Chapter 193: Chapter 191: Participating in the Murder

Su Miaoyi stood outside the interrogation room, watching Wang Youxian through the one-way glass.

The Wang Youxian before her now looked like a completely different person from the one she had seen on the film set that night.

That night, Wang Youxian had been calm and composed, showing no signs of being connected to the case.

But now, he was emotionally unstable and terrified.

Given how he was acting now, he should have been terrified that night.

"Did you send Liang Qi to Liu Namo?" Zhuang Yanzheng asked.

The photo of his maternal grandparents had struck the most painful nerve in his heart, causing Wang Youxian’s emotional state to crumble even further.

It wasn’t until Zhuang Yanzheng asked this question that he realized what he had just said.

He froze, then glared at Zhuang Yanzheng. "You’re tricking me!"

"You said it all yourself. I just showed you a photograph," Zhuang Yanzheng said.

Wang Youxian gasped for air, both furious and frightened.

"Since you’ve already started, you might as well keep talking," Zhuang Yanzheng said.

"What did I say? I didn’t say anything!" Wang Youxian shouted.

"Do you think this camera is just for show?" Zhuang Yanzheng frowned.

Wang Youxian looked toward the video camera.

He was a director, used to sitting behind a camera and watching a scene unfold. This was the first time he’d been in this position.

"Liu Namo’s connection to Liang Qi... it was because of you, wasn’t it?" Zhuang Yanzheng asked again.

Wang Youxian said nothing.

Zhuang Yanzheng knocked on the table twice. "Speak!"

Wang Youxian shuddered. "I don’t know. I don’t know anything."

Zhuang Yanzheng looked at him, then paused. "You’re involved in a murder case. Do you really think saying ’I don’t know’ will let you get away with it?"

"I didn’t, I didn’t!" Wang Youxian yelled. "I didn’t kill her! I didn’t kill her! It was her, she was asking for it! She was the one who insisted on calling the police! Liu Namo did it, it has nothing to do with me! I didn’t kill her!"

Zhuang Yanzheng suddenly narrowed his eyes.

Su Miaoyi was also taken aback.

’Was he talking about Liang Qi? Was her death related to him?’

Wang Youxian slammed the interrogation chair back, making it rattle. "I didn’t kill her, I didn’t! When I entered the room, she was covered in blood! She was already gone, already gone! It wasn’t me, it wasn’t me!"

Zhuang Yanzheng watched him.

"No matter what, she was my sister. We have the same blood. I was just resentful and wanted to teach her a lesson. She’s my little sister. When she was born, I wanted to be by her side every day. How could I possibly want her to die?"

Wang Youxian’s words were choked with tears.

Yan Cheng and Lu Zhishen were also watching from outside the interrogation room.

After a moment, they both noticed something was off about Su Miaoyi.

They looked at her at the same time.

Standing on either side of her, they saw she was completely still and exchanged a glance.

Lu Zhishen didn’t dare speak aloud, mouthing to Yan Cheng, "Seeing it again?"

Yan Cheng nodded.

Lu Zhishen then slowly and quietly leaned in to look at Su Miaoyi.

After a moment, he slowly waved a hand in front of her eyes.

Su Miaoyi didn’t react at all.

Yan Cheng stared at him. "..."

Lu Zhishen observed her.

Suddenly, Su Miaoyi clutched her stomach. The abrupt movement somehow resulted in her elbowing Lu Zhishen.

Lu Zhishen clutched his side, sucking in a sharp breath of pain. He leaned against the table, barely able to move.

Su Miaoyi rubbed her abdomen, took two deep breaths, and immediately looked back into the interrogation room.

Wang Youxian was still crying. "She was my own sister, the person I was closest to in this world. How could I kill her? It was all Liu Namo, all Liu Namo! My sister is gone, she’s gone."

Su Miaoyi watched the tears fall from his eyes.

’He should have studied acting at the Film Academy,’ she thought. ’With skills like these, he would have won awards by now.’

Su Miaoyi pressed the button for the microphone on the table. "Captain Zhuang, Wang Youxian was involved in the murder."

Zhuang Yanzheng had been watching Wang Youxian the whole time.

Hearing Su Miaoyi’s voice suddenly, a sharp glint appeared in his eyes.

Yan Cheng and Lu Zhishen both looked at her.

Su Miaoyi said, "After Liu Namo stabbed Liang Qi, she was still conscious. It was Wang Youxian who finished her off, stabbing her in the abdomen six more times."

At first, the scene was blurry. She could only make out a hazy figure.

Her entire body ached, and her mind seemed to have stopped thinking.

She vaguely felt the restraints on her hands being loosened.

She tried to move, but had no strength. She was paralyzed.

After a few seconds, her vision gradually cleared.

She saw Wang Youxian’s face.

Wang Youxian was panicking as he untied her hands from the bedpost.

Her lips moved. She called out to him, "Brother."

Wang Youxian flinched, looking at her with shock and fear.

"Brother, save me... save me." Her voice was incredibly weak.

Wang Youxian looked at her. After a moment, he placed a hand on her shoulder. "Qiqi... Qiqi..."

"Brother, save me."

Wang Youxian stared at her. He swallowed hard but didn’t move.

He looked as if his soul had left his body.

His eyes were vacant.

Then... he suddenly looked at the butterfly knife on the floor.

It was covered in blood.

He stared at it for a moment, picked it up, closed his eyes, and began stabbing her abdomen repeatedly...

Zhuang Yanzheng watched Wang Youxian, watched his performance.

"Are you done crying?"

Wang Youxian looked up at him.

Zhuang Yanzheng said, "What were you thinking when the knife plunged into Liang Qi’s body? Can you sleep at night, remembering that feeling?"

Wang Youxian’s pupils contracted violently.

"Don’t you find it ironic, saying all this now?" Zhuang Yanzheng asked.

Wang Youxian stopped crying. He stared blankly at Zhuang Yanzheng, silent for a long moment.

Zhuang Yanzheng didn’t speak either, waiting through the silence.

With someone like Wang Youxian, pressing too hard would make him emotional.

Sometimes, that agitation could reveal clues.

Other times, it would just make him clam up.

At this point, Zhuang Yanzheng needed him to be a little more stable.

After a long silence, Zhuang Yanzheng finally said, "Why didn’t you save her?"

Wang Youxian was silent for another moment before replying, "I wanted to. I really wanted to save her. She’s my sister, I didn’t want her to die. Seeing her covered in blood... it was devastating. Truly devastating."

"Then why did you kill her?"

After his complete breakdown, Wang Youxian seemed suddenly numb, his voice dead. "I had to kill her. Liu Namo had stabbed her limbs and her chest multiple times. It had gotten too big. If I saved her, she would have definitely called the police again. This time, with injuries all over her body... so much blood... The police would launch a full investigation, and I wouldn’t be able to get out of it."

"I was at the scene. I wouldn’t have been able to get out of it."

"If she lived, I was done for. I would go to prison."

"Liu Namo said he could pull some strings behind the scenes. That I’d be safer if she died than if she lived. And... with Liu Namo’s help, my career would get even better."
