The gaze of the Immortal Realm.

Spies.

Schemes from every major force.

All of them would swarm toward him.

It was far better to let Chu Xiu step forward.

After all, he had spent tens of thousands of years in the Demon Realm.

His foundations were deep.

He knew countless people.

His reputation was excellent.

There was no more suitable candidate.

As for what exactly he needed to do, Fang Yuan explained it clearly.

He was not asking Chu Xiu to lead people into direct confrontation with the Demon Clan.

Even ten more Chu Xius would not be enough for that.

Instead, he was to gradually establish strongholds within human settlements throughout the Demon Realm.

Starting from individual points and expanding outward.

Integrate humanity's scattered strength.

Share resources.

Share intelligence.

Provide mutual assistance.

Begin with the most fundamental matters.

Once the foundations became stable, they could pursue greater ambitions.

After listening, Chu Xiu remained silent for a long time.

Throughout his tens of thousands of years of solitary struggle in the Demon Realm, it was not as though he had never considered uniting other human cultivators.

But every attempt had ended in failure.

Either he did not trust them.

Or they did not trust him.

Or just as progress began, the Demon Clan wiped everything out.

Over time, he abandoned the idea entirely.

He convinced himself that killing demons alone was enough.

Why waste the effort?

But now things were different.

With an existence like Fang Yuan supporting him from behind, the flame in his heart that had nearly gone out began burning once more.

Without hesitation, Chu Xiu agreed to accept the responsibility.

Fang Yuan nodded and said nothing further.

From that point onward, Chu Xiu scarcely had to worry about anything.

Not because he did not want to.

But because every time he prepared to deal with a problem, the matter had already been resolved.

When he decided to begin development in the Northern Region of the Demon Realm, Fang Yuan had already paved the road ahead.

The leaders of various forces who should have become obstacles either mysteriously changed their minds or mysteriously suffered accidents.

Some died.

Some experienced severe drops in cultivation.

Others became entangled in old troubles and could no longer spare any effort to oppose Chu Xiu.

Originally, Chu Xiu expected to spend tremendous effort building relationships and persuading different factions.

Instead, he discovered that those factions seemed to have been waiting for him all along.

The moment he arrived, people immediately came to join him.

Entire families.

Complete sincerity.

Chu Xiu barely needed to say anything.

Those people had already begun treating him as their leader.

Chu Xiu was not a fool.

He knew exactly who was orchestrating everything behind the scenes.

But he never asked.

Some things only needed to be understood.

There was no need to speak them aloud.

Fang Yuan's methods extended far beyond that.

The greatest problem Chu Xiu encountered while establishing strongholds in the Northern Region was a lack of resources.

The Northern Region was poor.

Everything was scarce.

Cultivation resources especially.

Without resources, powerful cultivators would not stay.

Without powerful cultivators, development was impossible.

The problem was solved on the third day after Chu Xiu began worrying about it.

A massive supply of resources suddenly appeared within the warehouse of his chosen stronghold.

No one knew where they came from.

Pills.

Spirit stones.

Magic artifacts.

Cultivation jade slips.

Everything imaginable was present.

While taking inventory, Chu Xiu's hands trembled.

He knew Fang Yuan had provided these items.

What he did not know was how Fang Yuan had gathered so much in only three days.

Eventually, he stopped thinking about it.

There was no point.

He would never figure it out.

With resources available, Chu Xiu's influence expanded at explosive speed.

More and more human cultivators from the Demon Realm came seeking refuge.

The number of Great Unity Alliance strongholds continued to grow.

From one.

To three.

To five.

To ten.

In less than half a year, over half of the human settlements in the Northern Region had fallen under his leadership.

Of course, the process was not entirely smooth.

The Demon Realm was ultimately the territory of the Demon Clan.

Such large-scale activity by humans could not possibly escape notice.

Several Demon Clan forces in the Northern Region had always looked down upon humans.

When they heard that humans were organizing themselves, they dispatched troops to suppress them.

The commanders leading those forces were no weaklings.

At minimum, they possessed mid-stage Tribulation Crossing Realm cultivation.

Each brought hundreds of demon soldiers with them.

They marched toward the strongholds in force.

At the time, Chu Xiu had already prepared himself for a bloody battle.

Yet before those demons even reached the strongholds, accidents occurred.

Every one of them died.

After several such incidents, the Demon Clan forces of the Northern Region learned their lesson.

They discovered that anyone who sought trouble with Chu Xiu met a terrible end.

As for why, nobody knew.

Some demons speculated that a great expert stood behind Chu Xiu.

Others suspected that Chu Xiu had been concealing his true strength.

Still others believed the Northern Region simply had terrible feng shui and that anyone who went there became unlucky.

Regardless of the reason, the result remained the same.

No demon dared provoke Chu Xiu again.

His foundations in the Northern Region took root.

And not just ordinary roots.

Deep roots.

Stable roots.

The situation of humanity within the Northern Region visibly improved.

In the past, ordinary humans there lived like rats.

Hiding in corners.

Afraid to speak loudly.

Afraid to light fires.

Afraid to remain in one place for too long.

Always fearful of being discovered by demons.

Always fearful of being hunted as prey.

Children learned one lesson from birth:

Survival was enough.

Do not dream of anything more.

Now things were different.

With Chu Xiu's forces supporting them, humanity in the Northern Region could finally hold their heads high.

They could farm.

Cultivate.

Live.

Without spending every day in fear.

If demons attacked, there were strongholds to retreat to.

There were comrades to provide reinforcements.

No one needed to flee for their lives alone anymore.

The changes came too quickly.

So quickly that they felt like a dream.

Sometimes, while sitting inside a stronghold and watching the passing cultivators and mortals, Chu Xiu felt a profound sense of unreality.

He had struggled upon this land for tens of thousands of years.

He had witnessed endless death and despair.

Never had he imagined that humanity in the Demon Realm could one day live such lives.

He knew none of this had been achieved through his own efforts.

It was the existence standing behind the curtain.

The one who had used a single hand to support the fate of all humanity in the Northern Region.

Chu Xiu did not know why Fang Yuan was doing this.

Nor did he know what Fang Yuan sought.

The only thing he knew was that he could never repay the debt of gratitude he owed the Great Unity Venerable.

Over the following years, the situation in the Northern Region completely transformed.

The major Demon Clan forces that had dominated the region for ages were either wiped out completely—

Leaving not even scraps behind—

Or they sensed something was wrong and fled overnight to the Central Region or Eastern Region in search of new opportunities.

In their place arose a network of human forces.

Strongholds spread throughout the Northern Region like a massive spiderweb.

The entire region was firmly grasped within human hands.

All of this had been accomplished within only a few years.

In the mortal world, a few years might seem significant.

But in a place like the Demon Realm, where centuries and millennia served as ordinary units of time, a few years amounted to little more than the blink of an eye.

Yet within that brief moment, the Northern Region had undergone a complete transformation.

The first reason was the convenience of cultivation methods.

Teleportation formations connected the strongholds.

Information, personnel, and resources could be transferred instantly.

The second reason was Fang Yuan's control behind the scenes.

Five years after Chu Xiu established the Great Unity Alliance in the Northern Region—

Humanity became the true authority of the region.

This was something that had never happened before in the history of the Demon Realm.

Since the birth of the Demon Realm, humanity had always represented the lowest class.

Enslaved.

Driven away.

Hunted.

Living worse than pigs and dogs.

Becoming a ruling force was unimaginable.

Even living peacefully upon a small patch of land had once been a luxury.

Now, that ancient reality had been shattered.

As for the outside world, Fang Yuan had long since concealed everything occurring within the Northern Region.

No information leaked out.

Outsiders knew only that some massive upheaval had occurred there.

The details.

The outcome.

The identity of the mastermind.

Everything remained hidden within dense fog.

Meanwhile, the major powers of the Demon Realm had no time to concern themselves with the Northern Region.

The appearance of the two sky-covering giant palms years ago remained the greatest mystery and topic of discussion throughout the realm.

The aura unleashed during that battle had been so terrifying and so far beyond ordinary understanding that it exceeded the comprehension of most demons.

Every major force was desperately investigating the event.

Who had fought?

Who had opposed whom?

Who had won?

Would they fight again?

After endless investigation, they learned absolutely nothing.

The owners of those two palms seemed like mythical beings who had stepped out of ancient legends.

After taking action, they vanished without leaving a trace.

Compared to that, what significance did a little turmoil in the Northern Region have?

Furthermore, for most demons, whatever happened in the Northern Region had nothing to do with them.

Demons gathered according to race, tribe, and bloodline.

Within the same race, there might be some sense of kinship.

Between different races, however, nobody cared.

You could wipe out an entire demon tribe today.

Not only would other tribes refuse to avenge them, they might even celebrate.

One fewer competitor meant more territory for themselves.

That was the nature of demons.

Although many demons resembled humans in appearance—with eyes, noses, and the ability to speak—their behavior differed little from beasts.

The strong devoured the weak.

Deception was constant.

Members of the same race slaughtered one another without end.

They enjoyed it.

After stability was secured in the Northern Region, Chu Xiu's forces began infiltrating the Western Region.

Thanks to the experience gained earlier, progress became even smoother.

The same formula.

The same result.

Fang Yuan removed obstacles behind the scenes.

Chu Xiu collected the achievements at the forefront.

These days, Chu Xiu seemed invigorated by every success.

After enduring hardship in the Demon Realm for tens of thousands of years, he had never imagined that humanity could one day stand up and become masters of their own fate.

Now the Northern Region was secured.

The Western Region was within reach.

The entire man looked a thousand years younger.

Of course, at his cultivation level, a thousand years younger did not visibly change his appearance.

But his spirit and bearing had transformed completely.

One day, Fang Yuan summoned him.

Standing with his hands behind his back, Fang Yuan gazed calmly toward the distant land that was gradually filling with life.

Then he spoke:

“Chu Xiu, what do you think of this world?”

Chu Xiu was momentarily stunned.

He did not understand why Fang Yuan suddenly asked such a question.

After some thought, he answered honestly:

“Senior, this world... used to be a living hell for humanity.”

“Now, at last, there is some hope.”

Fang Yuan nodded.

“A living hell eventually comes to an end.”

“It is also time for this world to change its name.”

Chu Xiu froze.

Instinctively, he asked:

“What does Senior mean by that?”

Fang Yuan replied:

“Chu Xiu, why must this world be called the Demon Realm?”

Chu Xiu understood.

Yet he did not completely understand.

Carefully, he asked:

“Then Senior means... calling it... the Human Realm?”

Fang Yuan smiled.

“Human Realm?”

“Your vision is too small.”

“Let it be called the Xuanhuang Realm.”

Heaven and Earth are Xuan and Huang.

The universe is vast and primordial.

Xuan is the color of the heavens.

Huang is the color of the earth.

Xuanhuang is the proper color of heaven and earth.

The foundation of all things.

The moment the name left his mouth, it carried an indescribable weight.

Unlike the gloom and brutality of the Demon Realm.

Unlike the savagery and wildness of the Demon Realm of the demon race.

It was a dignified name that stood proudly between heaven and earth.

The Xuanhuang Realm.

This was where humanity belonged.

This was the name this land should have borne from the beginning.

Standing in place, Chu Xiu repeatedly murmured those three words.

The more he spoke them, the more natural they felt.

The more he spoke them, the more reasonable they seemed.

The Demon Realm?

That was merely a title demons used to flatter themselves.

Why should this land be called the Demon Realm?

Why should demons be supreme?

From this day onward—

This place would be called the Xuanhuang Realm.

Humanity's Xuanhuang Realm.
