Yet to this realm of heaven and earth, it was but an instant.

However, within this instant, the situation of the Spirit Realm had already changed beyond recognition.

The lands of the Northern Plains had now entirely fallen under the occupation of the demon race.

The armies of the Demon Realm occupied the Northern Plains, constructing demonic cities and laying down layer upon layer of restrictions, clearly managing the region as an impregnable foundational territory.

From time to time, squads of demon soldiers emerged from the Northern Plains to plunder in all directions, throwing every region into unrest.

The Western Wilderness, meanwhile, presented an entirely different scene.

In past years, the demon race of the Western Wilderness had respected the Great Peng Demon King as supreme.

Yet within the span of a hundred years, several demon kings at the peak Tribulation Crossing Realm unexpectedly emerged from the depths of the Western Wilderness. Each possessed profound cultivation and vast divine abilities, every one of them stronger than the Great Peng Demon King himself.

Among them was one demon king who called himself Heaven-Splitting Demon Emperor. His true form was a Nine Netherworld Python that had cultivated for an unknown number of tens of thousands of years.

The moment this demon king appeared, he displayed terrifying power that completely crushed those of the same realm.

The Great Peng Demon King exchanged fewer than three hundred moves with him before bowing his head in submission.

The remaining demon kings also submitted one after another. From that point onward, the demon race of the Western Wilderness became unified, all bowing beneath the Heaven-Splitting Demon Emperor’s command.

Eastern Continent.

Within the rear mountain of the Azure Wave Sect.

This place was the secluded cultivation ground of the Supreme Elder Nether River, and few people normally visited.

Ancient trees towered into the heavens among the mountains, while a stone pavilion stood at the edge of a cliff.

Nether River sat cross-legged within the pavilion, drinking tea, drinking wine, playing the flute, and plucking the zither in carefree comfort.

Nearby, the little chubby bird Ice Chen, the Nine Nether Ice Phoenix, was currently dozing atop the stone table.

The sound of footsteps approached from afar.

Wu Chang’an, Sect Master of the Azure Wave Sect, quickly climbed the mountain. Upon arriving before the pavilion, he respectfully bowed.

“Greetings, Supreme Elder.”

Nether River glanced at him indifferently.

“What is it?”

Wu Chang’an’s expression was grave as he spoke in a deep voice:

“Supreme Elder, something major has happened in the Western Wilderness.”

He recounted in detail the recent changes among the demon race of the Western Wilderness.

The Heaven-Splitting Demon Emperor had suddenly risen to prominence, unified the entire demon race of the Western Wilderness, gathered dozens of demon kings beneath his command, and commanded tens of millions of demon soldiers.

At present, no human territory remained within the Western Wilderness.

Those human sects that had originally established roots there had either been destroyed by the demon race, their disciples killed or scattered in flight—

Or they had voluntarily abandoned their sects and relocated in full to the Eastern Continent or the Central Lands.

Wu Chang’an sighed before continuing:

“Supreme Elder likely still remembers the Taibai Sword Sect.”

“In the past, this sect stood shoulder to shoulder with the Tianyan Dao Sect of the Eastern Continent and was one of the foremost great sword sects of the Western Wilderness.”

“When the demon race launched its massive offensive, the Taibai Sword Sect resisted with all its strength.”

“Unfortunately, there were simply too many demon kings among the demon race. The Heaven-Splitting Demon Emperor even took action personally. The Tribulation Crossing Realm ancestor of the Taibai Sword Sect was defeated and heavily injured. Left with no choice, he led the surviving disciples of the sect in abandoning their homeland and fleeing all the way to the Eastern Continent.”

“A once-glorious great sword sect now has fewer than three hundred disciples remaining. Their ancestor’s injuries cannot heal, and they merely struggle to survive. Truly tragic. Truly tragic.”

As Nether River listened, his expression remained unchanged, though calculations had already formed within his heart.

The Heaven-Splitting Demon Emperor had appeared too strangely. No one had ever heard of him before, yet the moment he emerged, he was already at the peak Tribulation Crossing Realm, his strength far surpassing long-established powerhouses like the Great Peng Demon King.

Such handiwork absolutely could not have been nurtured naturally within the Spirit Realm itself.

In all likelihood, this was another chess piece planted by some great power of the Immortal Realm.

Just as the demon race itself also possessed shadows of Immortal Realm demonic cultivator powers behind it.

However, there was no need to explain such matters to Wu Chang’an.

Even if he did, it would be meaningless and merely add more worries.

Nether River spoke:

“Pass down the order. All disciples of the Azure Wave Sect are to return immediately to the sect.”

“Without important matters, none are permitted to leave. Let everyone cultivate peacefully and avoid involving themselves in external conflicts.”

Wu Chang’an froze upon hearing this and hesitated.

“Supreme Elder… what if the demon race of the Western Wilderness attacks the Eastern Continent?”

“Then we shall wait until they attack before discussing it.”

Wu Chang’an scratched his head and asked again:

“And then? We’re just going to do nothing?”

Before he could continue, the little chubby bird Ice Chen—who had somehow awakened from his nap—rolled his eyes and spoke in a sharp, sarcastic tone:

“And then? What more ‘and then’ do you want?”

“I say, Sect Master Wu, have you cultivated until your brain turned mush?”

“What kind of status does our Azure Wave Sect even have? Do we rank among the top powers of the Eastern Continent?”

“The top-tier great sects like the Tianyan Dao Sect haven’t even spoken yet. Why are you panicking?”

“When the sky collapses, the tall ones hold it up first. If anyone is going to step forward, it’ll be those major sects. We’re just a second-rate sect. Wouldn’t it be better for us to honestly close our doors and chant scriptures?”

“And yet here you are, rushing eagerly to the front like you’re afraid others won’t know the Azure Wave Sect has a warm-hearted Sect Master Wu?”

The more Ice Chen spoke, the more excited he became, his chubby body jiggling continuously.

Wu Chang’an was scolded thoroughly by the little fat bird, his face alternating between green and white, yet he could not bring himself to explode in anger.

He knew clearly that although the little fat bird possessed a venomous tongue, every word spoken made perfect sense.

Although the current foundation of the Azure Wave Sect had long surpassed its former self—

Aside from the Supreme Elder Nether River, whose true battle power remained unfathomable—

The strength of the remaining disciples ultimately still could not be considered top-tier.

If they insisted on stepping forward now, they would merely be throwing their lives away for nothing.

Thinking this, Wu Chang’an secretly glanced at Ice Chen’s round, plump body and muttered inwardly.

This little fat bird looked harmless enough, fat like a ball, yet its cultivation was genuinely at the peak Tribulation Crossing Realm.

He truly did not know how the Supreme Elder had subdued it back then.

An existence like this already ranked among the top battle powers of the Spirit Realm today.

As for the Supreme Elder’s secrets, however, how would he dare investigate too deeply?

Furthermore, as his own cultivation steadily advanced, he increasingly felt that this young Supreme Elder was unfathomably deep.

Wu Chang’an took a deep breath, calmed his emotions, and said:

“This disciple shall obey the Supreme Elder’s instructions.”
