Gu Yan still remembered that he had previously obtained an orange title called 《Nine Nether Reincarnation Underworld》.
When he first acquired it, he had felt that the item was temporarily useless and merely kept it in reserve.
Now, however, it seemed precisely the right moment to put it to use.
Even if these unruly disciples were thrown out of the Supreme Creation Lesser Luo Grotto Heaven, he need not fear them dying outside.
All he needed to do was plant divine soul imprints within them and connect them to the underworld.
After death, their souls would neither enter reincarnation nor pass into the underworld. Instead, they would directly return to his Nine Nether Underworld.
At that point, arranging for them to reincarnate and restoring their memories from previous lives would merely mean starting over again. Their lives would remain secure.
With this trump card in place, they could freely and boldly undergo tribulations.
Thinking this, Gu Yan immediately waved his hand.
Within the Longevity Hall, space rippled slightly.
One figure after another appeared out of thin air within the hall, looking around in confusion.
Shen Qingyi, Little Nezha, Chu Feng, Lin Fan, Ye Chen, Xu Gang, Xu Yue, Ji Canghai, Ji Yingying...
Aside from them, there were also several disciples from the Taiyi Dao Sect who similarly carried tribulation qi.
As well as several members from the Great Unity Alliance of the Heavens and Myriad Worlds who possessed extraordinary fortune.
Altogether, more than twenty people stood there, all individuals with extraordinary fate configurations and tribulation qi wrapped around them.
The sudden transportation into the Longevity Hall startled everyone at first. Only after recognizing the person seated above as Gu Yan did they relax and hurriedly offer greetings.
“This disciple greets Dao Lord.”
“Greetings, Longevity Dao Lord.”
Gu Yan sat atop his meditation cushion, his gaze sweeping across the crowd as he got straight to the point.
“I summoned all of you today because of the matter of tribulation qi.”
He briefly explained the reasons behind the birth of tribulation qi and the dangers of internal tribulations.
After hearing this, the expressions of the crowd varied greatly.
Gu Yan continued:
“This seat has already prepared destinations for all of you.”
“The Spirit Realm, Demon Realm, Demon Race Realm, Ghost Realm, and the various middle worlds—you may each choose one to go to.”
“While overcoming tribulations outside, there is no need to fear life or death.”
“This seat has already planted imprints within your divine souls. Even if your bodies and souls are destroyed completely, you will still return to this seat’s underworld, reincarnate anew, and recover the memories of your previous lives.”
The moment those words were spoken, everyone’s eyes lit up.
With the Dao Lord personally arranging everything and even guaranteeing a second chance after death, what was there left to fear?
Everyone immediately accepted, not a trace of fear appearing on their faces. Instead, they looked eager to try.
Gu Yan slightly nodded and first planted divine soul imprints into each of them one by one.
The imprints were formless and intangible, yet tightly connected to the Nine Nether Underworld. Even if someone were reduced to ashes with a single palm strike, their soul would still follow the imprint back.
Afterward, he imparted several spells and divine abilities.
Though they were not top-tier, they were more than sufficient to dominate middle worlds.
Finally, Gu Yan raised a hand, summoning dozens of streaks of radiance from the treasury of the Longevity Hall.
Three for each person—all of them high-grade immortal artifacts.
Such artifacts were nothing remarkable in the Immortal Realm, but in places like the Spirit Realm and Demon Realm, they were top-tier treasures capable of suppressing entire sects.
After receiving the immortal artifacts, everyone became even more confident.
Gu Yan said nothing further and activated the Haotian Mirror.
Radiance flowed across the mirror’s surface, reflecting the heavens and myriad worlds.
“Go.”
Chu Feng was the first to clasp his fists before striding into the mirror light, vanishing without a trace.
Lin Fan followed immediately after, his expression calm and composed.
Xu Gang held Xu Yue’s hand as the two entered side by side.
Ji Canghai held Ji Yingying’s hand while walking before the mirror.
Lowering his head, he looked at his younger sister seriously and said:
“Little Ying’er, wherever you go, your brother will go with you. Your brother will protect you.”
Ji Yingying snorted and lifted her chin arrogantly.
“Idiot brother, my cultivation is higher than yours. It should obviously be me protecting you.”
Ji Canghai smiled and did not argue, simply leading her into the mirror.
The others also selected worlds one after another—the Spirit Realm, Demon Race Realm, Ghost Realm, Demon Realm—each had their own destination.
Some traveled in groups of three or five, while others wandered alone.
One after another, they were transmitted away by the Haotian Mirror.
The hall gradually became empty.
In the end, only one person remained.
Ye Chen.
He still stood there, hesitant to move forward.
Gu Yan looked toward him without urging him, merely smiling faintly.
After hesitating repeatedly, Ye Chen finally braced himself and spoke:
“Dao Lord, I... actually don’t really want to go to a middle world anymore.”
“I truly don’t want to experience all that fighting and killing again.”
He had previously gone to the Spirit Realm once already and experienced far too much conflict, leaving him mentally and physically exhausted.
Now that he had spent a peaceful period within the Lesser Luo Grotto Heaven, he truly did not wish to go out and struggle again.
Gu Yan continued smiling at him silently.
The gaze made Ye Chen’s scalp tingle, and he awkwardly added:
“Dao Lord, look...”
Only then did Gu Yan finally speak.
“You brat still don’t want to go? Whether you want to or not, you’re going. Until you exhaust all your tribulation qi, don’t even think about returning to the Supreme Creation Lesser Luo Grotto Heaven.”
Ye Chen nearly burst into tears.
He knew the Dao Lord’s words were absolute. There was no room for negotiation.
After a moment of silence, inspiration suddenly flashed through his mind. Clasping his fists, he said:
“Dao Lord, in that case, I’ll go to the Spirit Realm.”
“You previously sent me there before, so I’m familiar with the place.”
“Oh right, please make sure to teleport me directly into the Azure Wave Sect.”
Gu Yan shook his head with a laugh.
How could he not know what the brat was plotting?
Within the Azure Wave Sect sat Nether Soul—his Evil Body among his external incarnations.
If Ye Chen went there, then with Nether Soul protecting him, he would be completely safe. How would he even undergo tribulations?
However, Gu Yan did not mind.
The Azure Wave Sect was in the Spirit Realm, and the Spirit Realm naturally had its own tribulations.
Once Ye Chen arrived there, surely he would not spend his entire life hiding inside the sect without stepping outside.
As long as he moved about externally, his tribulation qi would naturally be consumed.
Moreover, the sect also housed those two spirit pets.
The Nine Nether Ice Phoenix, Ice Chen, and the Nine-Tailed Snow Fox, Xue Yuan, both shared deep ties with Ye Chen.
Allowing them to reunite could also be considered a pleasant thing.
Gu Yan nodded.
“Approved.”
He pointed toward the Haotian Mirror, and mirror light descended upon Ye Chen.
Ye Chen let out a long sigh of relief and deeply bowed.
“Many thanks, Dao Lord.”
Before his words even finished, his body was already wrapped within the mirror light and vanished from the Longevity Hall.
......
Ye Chen only felt his vision blur as the world spun around him.
By the time he steadied himself, the place before him was already the back mountain of the Azure Wave Sect.
The same emerald bamboo grove remained, along with that jade-green pool.
Mountain winds blew through the forest as bamboo leaves rustled softly. Though the spiritual qi was not as dense as within the Lesser Luo Grotto Heaven, it possessed its own tranquil charm.
Before he could properly observe the surroundings, two shadows already poked their heads out from behind the rocks beside the pool.
A little ice-blue fat phoenix, round and plump, with its wings tucked against its sides, was secretly peeking over in his direction.
Beside it lay a snow-white little nine-tailed fox, its nine tails swaying uneasily.
Ye Chen’s gaze swept over them, causing the two little beasts to instantly shrink back behind the rock.
A moment later, they cautiously poked their heads out again.
The Nine Nether Ice Phoenix, Ice Chen, looked at that familiar figure, emotions surging within its heart.
It recognized Ye Chen. Back then, the half-demon bloodline youth who had cultivated beneath its protection had now become an Integration Realm cultivator.
It wanted to go over and speak with him, to acknowledge each other once more.
But after looking down at its own round and plump body, then at Ye Chen’s refined and transcendent appearance, its feet simply refused to move.
Too embarrassing.
Utterly humiliating.
A dignified Nine Nether Ice Phoenix had now become this fat chicken-like appearance. How could it possibly have the face to meet an old acquaintance?
Xue Yuan was much the same.
Ye Chen was her adopted son.
That frail little fellow from back then had now grown into a towering man.
She ought to feel happy and go forward to reunite with him.
But with her current appearance—a round and plump Nine-Tailed Snow Fox whose body was so fat she practically no longer had a neck—where was the dignity of an adoptive mother?
The two little beasts exchanged glances and simultaneously chose to play dumb.
Seeing the two spirit beasts peeking around suspiciously, Ye Chen did not pay much attention.
He withdrew his gaze and was about to head into the bamboo grove when he suddenly paused.
That little ice-blue fat bird... why did it look somewhat familiar?
Thinking carefully, he recalled the days back in the Northern Plains, when he cultivated beneath that enormous Nine Nether Ice Phoenix and looked up every day at that ice-blue figure.
Those wings, that aura—although not completely identical, there was still an indescribable resemblance.
Ye Chen turned around and walked toward the rock.
Seeing him approach, Ice Chen panicked internally and hurriedly turned its head away, pretending to look at the clouds in the sky.
“This little fat bird...” Ye Chen crouched down and stared at Ice Chen. “I feel like I’ve seen something similar somewhere before.”
Ice Chen’s heart skipped a beat, but outwardly it feigned confusion.
“Chirp?”
Tilting its head, it blinked innocently, looking completely unable to understand what he was saying.
Ye Chen then looked toward the fluffy white snow fox beside it.
Those nine tails and that fur color also seemed somewhat familiar.
“You too...” He reached out a hand, intending to pet it.
Xue Yuan immediately shrank backward and dodged away.
Ye Chen withdrew his hand, slightly frowning.
These two little beasts had clearly already awakened spiritual intelligence.
Yet they deliberately acted like ordinary wild beasts.
That chirp from the ice phoenix earlier had sounded fake beyond belief.
Suspicion grew within his heart. Just as he was about to question them further, Nether Soul’s voice sounded from behind him.
“Oh? You brat came back to the Spirit Realm again.”
Ye Chen rose and clasped his fists toward Nether Soul.
“Greetings, Senior Nether Soul.”
Nether Soul glanced at the two little beasts hiding behind the rock, the corners of his mouth twitching slightly, though he said nothing.
“Since you’ve arrived, then settle down here peacefully.”
“I also have a foolish dragon spirit pet here. It’s in the back mountain. If you’re bored, you may go discipline it.”
“As for the food for those two spirit pets, Ah Ming is responsible for it. Do not interfere.”
Ye Chen acknowledged the instruction, then turned back for another glance.
The two little beasts still hid behind the rock, secretly staring at him with complicated expressions.
Ye Chen’s heart stirred.
The more he thought about it, the more something felt wrong.
He decided to settle down first and investigate slowly afterward.
