Chapter 88: Chapter 83: Little Flower Looking for Something

When she saw who it was, Xia Yu’s expression changed. She stopped in her tracks, her grip tightening on the Blood Butterfly as her guard went up.

"Thank God, I’ve finally found another living person."

"Get me out of this hellhole, and I’ll give you a million!"

The newcomer was none other than Ye Xue. Hearing the sounds, she had rushed over, overjoyed to see another living person in Xia Yu.

"I swear."

"I’ll definitely keep my word."

She raised her right hand, holding up her index, middle, and ring fingers to swear an oath. "If I’m lying, I hope I get hit by a car and die the second I walk out of here."

"It’s more likely you’d be the one hitting and killing someone," Xia Yu said coldly.

Ye Xue froze.

’How does she know I hit and killed someone?’

’Impossible.’

’She must be guessing.’

Xia Yu scanned her surroundings and found that the scene had changed. A wall now blocked her view, and Song Zichao and the others, whose backs she could see just moments ago, had vanished.

’It must be the work of that Soul-eating Ghost.’

But even after she silently recited the mantra to break the illusion, there was no trace of Song Zichao or the others.

Just then, Zhu Fangfang limped up to join them.

Xia Yu glanced at the limping woman. She knew that if she gave chase now, Zhu Fangfang would almost certainly be killed. Besides, if the Soul-eating Ghost could trap her in an illusion, it could do the same to Song Zichao’s group to split them up.

’Even if I catch up, I’ll only be able to save one or two of them at best.’

She decided against giving chase and turned her gaze to Ye Xue instead.

"Where were you just now?"

she asked icily.

’This woman is very likely a Ghost Slave. I can’t let her get away.’

"I... I was just inside that bridal sedan," Ye Xue said, her voice filled with lingering fear.

"What?!"

Xia Yu’s expression changed. Shock and suspicion filled her. She immediately pressed, "Tell me exactly what happened."

Ye Xue began to recall the events, her expression turning to one of panic. "Just as I was losing consciousness, a strange Power grew inside me. I started to feel warm again, and slowly, I regained control of my body."

"Eventually, I took complete control of my body and escaped."

"It scared me to death."

’A superpower?!’

Xia Yu was utterly astonished.

If Ye Xue’s story was true, then she could be certain of one thing: the woman had a superpower, one related to the soul. Otherwise, there was no way she could have broken free from the control of the Ghost Clan and their ghost artifact.

"Can you summon that Power from inside you again?" Xia Yu asked.

Ye Xue nodded, but then frowned. "Why are you asking so many questions? I’m offering you a million. Just get me out of here. What’s with the interrogation?"

She wasn’t stupid. She had a vague sense that there was something special about her situation.

’It’s best not to tell anyone.’

"You won’t tell me?"

"Fine, then you can get out of here on your own. I don’t need your million."

Xia Yu had no patience for her attitude and turned to walk away.

"You..."

Ye Xue was furious, but the memory of her recent despair and terror instantly deflated her anger. She quickly backtracked, "I’ll do it! I’ll do it."

Xia Yu stopped.

Ye Xue reluctantly complied. A wave of exhaustion washed over her, and she even felt a faint, sharp pain between her eyebrows.

Xia Yu focused her senses and immediately perceived that Ye Xue was enveloped in a mysterious Power.

This Power was different from Heaven and Earth Spiritual Power; it was profound and mysterious.

She had encountered superpowers many times before and was familiar with this feeling. She could say with absolute certainty: This was a superpower!

’To think she would awaken a superpower and survive this long.’

Xia Yu’s expression flickered.

’This is fate.’

’Opportunity’ doesn’t favor you for being a good person, nor does it shun you for being a bad one.

"You can follow me."

Taking a deep breath, she strode off in the direction where Song Zichao and the others had vanished.

’I hope I’m in time to save at least one or two of them.’

...

...

Zhao Huan.

He was running when a wall suddenly appeared in front of him, startling him into a hasty stop.

He nearly crashed right into it.

’This wall wasn’t here a moment ago. How did it just appear?’

’Where did everyone go? Why have they all disappeared?’

’It must be the work of that hidden ghost.’

Taking a deep breath, Zhao Huan was terrified, but he closed his eyes, steeled his nerves, and reached out his hand as he inched forward.

Soon.

He estimated that his hand should be about to touch the so-called "wall."

And then...

He touched nothing.

’Sure enough, it’s fake!’

’It’s an illusion!’

The thought had barely formed when his hand touched something soft. Startled, he snatched his hand back and opened his eyes.

Before him stood a little girl in a floral padded jacket, her hair tied in pigtails. Her back was to him, but as if sensing he had opened his eyes, she tilted her head.

On a bright, sunny day, if a little girl stood face-to-face with you, tilting her head as she looked you over, you would probably find her quite cute.
