I Return From Hell
Chapter 215 - 182: High-speed Rescue
Chapter 215: Chapter 182: High-speed Rescue
At the edge of the mist.
"Cough, cough."
A petite figure was slumped on the ground, her face ashen as a sheet of paper. She trembled from head to toe, a sharp combat knife embedded in her arm. In her lap, she clutched a backpack soaked crimson with blood.
It was Little Nannan.
She wasn’t dead.
The mist was vast, so the chances of encountering the White Ape had been slim.
She did, however, run into a Spiritual Ape. Luckily, she had a heavy-caliber pistol and killed it with a single shot.
Afterward, Little Nannan had found herself here.
HUMMM.
She focused all her energy on healing her wounds, with no intention of leaving. If she ran into danger again, she could retreat into the mist at a moment’s notice to survive.
It was the safest survival strategy Little Nannan could think of.
’The wound is already starting to scab over.’
’The situation is critical. I’d better not pull the knife out just yet.’
She glanced at the wound on her arm.
With every slight movement, the blade grated against her flesh, keeping the wound bleeding.
If she pulled the blade out, the wound would start bleeding profusely.
In her current condition, if that happened...
At best, she would pass out.
At worst, her life would be in danger.
Little Nannan naturally wouldn’t make that choice. She decided to wait. ’Once Yu and Brother Hua kill the Monkey King, they’ll come find me.’
’It won’t be too late to pull the knife out once I see them again.’
Her mind made up, she sat cross-legged, minimizing her movements, and began to absorb the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Power with all her might.
Gradually, her condition began to improve.
Not long after,
"OOH OOH OOH."
"ROAR."
...
Little Nannan saw countless Spiritual Apes frantically stampeding past.
Startled, she quickly hid behind a tree.
It was worth noting that Little Nannan was, after all, a "veteran" with considerable combat experience. Her current position was not only adjacent to the mist, but also right in front of a towering ancient tree.
This ancient tree was massive.
Its trunk was a full three meters in diameter, with one part inside the mist and the larger portion outside of it.
So, when danger appeared, she could hide behind the tree without being discovered, and could even peek her head out to observe her surroundings.
Then,
"Huh?"
Little Nannan watched as, one by one, the Spiritual Apes would be running along and suddenly collapse, unable to get back up.
Another group of Spiritual Apes, though not dead, could only lie on the ground convulsing, their condition utterly wretched.
’What’s going on?’
For a moment, Little Nannan was completely baffled.
She couldn’t figure it out.
But she knew this situation was a good thing for them.
A little while later, the vast majority of the Spiritual Apes had become corpses. Some were still alive, but could only lie on the ground, immobile. A few that were in better shape could only stagger away.
’Is the battle over?’
Little Nannan wondered.
Just as she was about to sit cross-legged again and focus on healing her wounds,
"PTHOO."
The sound of someone spitting blood echoed from nearby.
Startled, Little Nannan’s body went rigid, and she cautiously peered in that direction.
There, not far away, was a familiar figure—the saleswoman!
The saleswoman who had covered for the peeping tom and was later used as a "gun rest" by Hong She!
’She’s still alive?’
Little Nannan’s small brow furrowed.
She was completely taken aback.
Meanwhile, the saleswoman, unaware she was being watched, had a sharpened wooden stick piercing her thigh. The wound had already mostly scabbed over, and although it was still bleeding, her condition was much better than Little Nannan’s.
After all, she had been wounded earlier, and the injury wasn’t as severe. The wooden stick was relatively smooth, so the constant damage from friction was minor—far less than the damage caused by the combat knife grating against flesh.
"You’d better pray I don’t make it out of here alive, otherwise I’ll make sure every one of you rots in prison."
"When I get powerful, I’ll kill every last one of you."
"Ow, it hurts like hell."
"What a fucking shithole. I’ve had it with this place."
The saleswoman cursed endlessly, her eyes darting around, filled with both fear and excitement.
Fear, because she was still in danger.
Excitement, because she had escaped Hong She and the others. Far from the battlefield, she was free and had a chance to just hide and survive until the very end.
’Just as I thought.’
’She’s holding a grudge!’
’Someone like her deserves to die.’
’If Brother Snake heard what she was saying, he’d probably kill her on the spot, right?’
Little Nannan tightened her grip on the heavy-caliber pistol but made no other move. She just watched the saleswoman in silence.
Soon, the saleswoman noticed the Spiritual Apes lying on the ground nearby. "I need to find a place to hide," she muttered. Frightened, she dove into a thicket of bushes, terrified of being discovered.
