I Return From Hell
Chapter 178 - 169: Blood-Stained Campus
Chapter 178: Chapter 169: Blood-Stained Campus
"He sure knows how to pick a spot."
Xia Yu didn’t charge up the hill. It was already too late. Besides, the small hill was covered in thorns and brambles; if the creature darted in there, she’d have a hard time finding it.
Better to just stay here and wait for it to come down.
She was certain it would employ hit-and-run tactics.
She waited for a long time.
But she didn’t see the Red-eyed Lizard. Instead, she saw Wang Quanzhi.
’What’s he doing here?’
Xia Yu frowned and asked, "Are you here chasing the Red-eyed Lizard?"
"Where’s the Red-eyed Lizard?"
...
...
「Half an hour later.」
HUMMM.
A Yangwang U8 entered through the east gate of Huayang University of Technology. It drove along the university’s main road for seven or eight minutes before turning onto a rather dim side path.
It was the path behind the main stand of the university’s second stadium. There had never been streetlights here, so few people ever used it, especially at night.
Inside the car.
"Uncle, you turned the wrong way." ⅇ
In the back seat sat a beautiful young woman. She was fashionably dressed, with stunning looks and pale, cool-toned skin. By popular standards, she was an 8.8 out of 10. But to the forty-something-year-old uncle in the driver’s seat... she was a 9.8.
What could he say? She was exactly his type.
"Shuishui," the man countered, "I’ve been to your campus countless times. You think I don’t know my way around?"
The young woman froze for a second before realization dawned. A faint blush crept up her cheeks. She quickly looked out the window, where only a few boys were passing by after a game of basketball. "Uncle," she said hesitantly, "this... isn’t a good idea, is it?"
"Heh."
The corner of the man’s mouth lifted into a smirk.
After so many years in business, he had an unerring grasp of human nature. He knew that almost everything in this world had a price.
As long as the price was right.
"Go on, tell me what you want."
He adjusted his glasses, a knowing glint in his eyes that spoke a universal language among men. "I just signed a huge contract today, so I’m in a great mood. If you can make me even happier... I might just agree to something I wouldn’t have before."
At his words, the young woman’s eyes lit up.
She first glanced toward the passenger seat, a flash of envy and longing in the depths of her eyes, before quickly looking away.
That was his wife’s exclusive seat. No one else was allowed to sit there.
Not even her.
Let alone ever hope to replace her.
"You don’t have much time to think."
The man parked the car by the side of the path, the driver’s side flush against the shrubbery. A tree just ahead on the left cast its branches over most of the roof. Under the dappled moonlight, the car’s Moonlight Silver paint job gave off a faint gleam, attracting the notice of the few people passing by.
After shutting off the engine, he said, "I have to hurry home after this."
"I... I want you to help me pick a location for a shop."
The young woman’s request was startling.
"Oh?"
The man was genuinely surprised. "You’ve saved up enough? What about buying a house?"
’He recalled that her goal from the very beginning of their arrangement had been to save up for a house and a shop. It’s only been three years, and she already has enough?’
"I’ve already bought the house. It’s at Longhu International."
"Two bedrooms, a living room, and a dining room. Over eighty square meters. One million. Paid in full."
The young woman didn’t try to hide anything. "There’s enough left over to open my shop."
"Alright."
The man couldn’t help but see the woman in a new light. He answered without hesitation, "Draw up a business plan and send it to me in a couple of days. I’ll have someone take a look at it for you."
"We’ll find the best possible location."
"Thank you, Uncle."
The young woman was overjoyed.
She knew that with his personality, a promise made was a promise he would keep. He wouldn’t just go through the motions.
With his help, opening her shop was already halfway to a success.
"Let’s hurry up, before the heat from the AC fades."
The man reclined his seat and started taking off his down jacket.
"Uncle, why don’t you come back here?"
The young woman glanced at the clear front windshield, a hint of earnestness in her tone.
"Fine."
The man didn’t argue. He pushed open his door and walked straight toward the rear door.
Just then, he suddenly sensed danger—a mortal danger. It was pure instinct.
But it was too late. Years of indulgence had taken their toll on his body, leaving him unable to react. He only registered a pair of red eyes drawing near before a sharp pain lanced through his throat.
"Hel—"
He tried to scream for help, but no sound would come out.
A moment later, an immense force dragged him into the adjacent shrubbery. A powerful will to live made him reach out instinctively, trying to grab the handle of the rear door, but his fingers closed on empty air.
’In my next life, I’m never buying a car with retractable electric door handles again!’ the man screamed in his mind.
The young woman was busy adjusting her seat when she heard a slapping sound against the car door. ’Is he telling me to open the door for him?’ she wondered.
Without a second thought, she opened the door. ℓ.
"Uncle?"
She vaguely saw the man being dragged away by... a pair of glowing red eyes. No, he was being dragged away by a creature *with* a pair of glowing red eyes!
"AHHH!" screamed the young woman.
"Ghk... ghk... ghk..."
As if finding a last glimmer of hope, the man burst with renewed strength. He struggled desperately, praying that the girl in front of him—Shi Qiushui—could save him.
SLAM.
The car door slammed shut.
