I Return From Hell

Chapter 17: Chapter 15: Resource Secured, Who is the Meat Cushion?
"Um... thank you."
Li Xiaopeng looked at Xia Yu, her clothes splattered with fresh blood. Backlit by the raging flames, she was a terrifying sight. He shuddered in fear and hurriedly begged for mercy, "What happened before... it-it was all a misunderstanding."
Xia Yu glanced at the fire, which had already reached the third floor, and her delicate brows furrowed slightly.
’What on earth did Chu Quan keep in his house? How did the fire get this intense?’
’If this continues, the fire will probably grow even stronger by the time the Servant Spirit Species fully matures. How will I get out then?’
’Can’t worry about that now.’
For now, she couldn’t possibly leave the Servant Spirit Species’s side. She had been planning for so long just to obtain it. She absolutely could not afford to lose it!
Xia Yu pushed her worries to the back of her mind and remained by the Servant Spirit Species, beginning to focus on absorbing the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Power.
"What is that?"
Li Xiaopeng didn’t get a response from Xia Yu, but he didn’t mind. After all, his previous actions had been less than stellar. He turned his gaze toward the Servant Spirit Species.
But his vision was growing blurry. He staggered and fell to the ground again.
"Ah."
He had accidentally pulled on the wound on his left arm. He grimaced in pain, quickly taking off his shirt and tying it tightly around the wound to keep from bleeding to death.
It took a great deal of effort for him to manage even that.
Li Xiaopeng gasped for breath, fighting to stay conscious. He hurriedly pulled out his phone, preparing to call for help.
However, the phone had no signal.
Instead, the fire around them grew larger. Thick smoke billowed, and he choked so hard he nearly passed out. Tears streamed down his face as his consciousness faded.
"One last minute."
Xia Yu also coughed twice from the smoke. She took out her phone, glanced at the time again, and her delicate brows knitted tightly together.
Just then.
*SWOOSH.*
She suddenly shot her hands out, interlacing her fingers to form a cage. She cupped the newly matured Servant Spirit Species in her palms and quickly closed them.
This was a method the Human Race had developed after countless experiments.
The Servant Spirit Species was not a physical entity. Xia Yu had no tactile sensation at that moment, but she could sense it pulsing through the fluctuations of Spiritual Energy, trying to break free.
She wasn’t surprised by this. She quickly bit the tip of her tongue. Shifting her thumbs slightly to create a small opening, she waited. The Servant Spirit Species tried to escape through the hole, only to be struck by a drop of blood from her tongue.
It trembled.
The tongue-tip blood quickly merged into it.
The Servant Spirit Species turned from white to a translucent red.
Seeing this, Xia Yu finally breathed a sigh of relief and completely opened her hands. The Servant Spirit Species had become incredibly obedient, circling her once as if it were her child.
Now, all she had to do was feed it to a living being with a Spiritual Ability Realm and soul strength weaker than her own to gain a Spirit Servant.
Unfortunately, there was no suitable candidate right now. She took an ordinary brocade box from her pocket.
She placed the Servant Spirit Species inside.
This storage method had many drawbacks. For instance, it would emit fluctuations of Heaven and Earth Spiritual Power, and any creature that had absorbed such power would be able to sense its presence if they got close.
For another, the longer it was stored, the less effective it would become.
The best method was to choose a suitable host for the Spirit Servant and have them consume it.
The next-best method was to find a Jade Box to place it in; the better the quality of the jade, the longer it could be stored.
"Time to get out of here."
Xia Yu noticed that the supernatural mist around them was beginning to dissipate. The fire had completely engulfed the villa. The blaze on the third floor was immense, making it impossible to go down that way.
The only way was to jump.
And there was no time to waste.
She quickly moved to the railing at the edge, surveyed her surroundings, and soon picked a landing spot.
Below was a lawn.
It would cushion the fall.
Nearby, Li Xiaopeng appeared. He seemed to understand Xia Yu’s plan and said fearfully, "If we jump from this high up, we’ll lose our legs, won’t we?"
’Staying alive is more important than anything.’
Xia Yu ignored him, climbed onto the railing, and prepared to leap.
Seeing this, a glint flashed in Li Xiaopeng’s eyes. He suddenly reached out with his left hand, intending to push Xia Yu.
The lawn.
A human cushion.
A double cushion. Even more effective.
That way, he should be able to save his legs.
Besides, his injuries were so severe that he couldn’t withstand another major impact. This was the only way he had a chance to survive.
So...
"I’m sorry."
He touched Xia Yu, thinking the outcome was settled, and said with a face full of guilt.
"Sigh."
A sigh was heard.
Li Xiaopeng felt his left hand being grabbed. His expression changed drastically. He then saw Xia Yu turn her head and say indifferently, "I gave you a chance to live, but you just had to court death."
"So you can’t blame me for what happens next."
With that, she threw Li Xiaopeng straight down.
If Xia Yu hadn’t been prepared for even this, she would have wasted her previous life. She had, in fact, already anticipated this possibility.
"No."
Li Xiaopeng struggled frantically, but to no avail. "I was wrong! Please, let me go! I’m a person, a living human being! If you kill me, it’s a crime!"
"You... ah..."
*THUD.*
The heavy sound of him hitting the ground echoed, and his screams stopped abruptly.
In the light of the fire, Xia Yu could see Li Xiaopeng, barely breathing and filled with resentment. Expressionless, she tossed down the baseball bat and then leaped.
She leaned forward, her knees slightly bent.
She landed hard on Li Xiaopeng’s body.
The sound of bones cracking, blood spurting, and a piercing scream erupted almost simultaneously.
Xia Yu rolled, perfectly Unloading Power, and rose to her feet unharmed. She then picked up the baseball bat and walked toward Li Xiaopeng.
*GURGLE...*
Li Xiaopeng’s face was filled with terror. He wanted to beg for mercy, but when he opened his mouth, a torrent of blood gushed out, and he couldn’t make a sound.
*THWACK.*
Xia Yu turned slightly to the side, gripping the baseball bat with both hands. She took a moment to aim, then raised it high and brought it down hard.
It was over.
In his final moments, Li Xiaopeng finally understood that Xia Yu was the true demon. She was the one person he never should have provoked.
But he understood too late.
Xia Yu never cared what a dead man was thinking. She picked up Li Xiaopeng’s corpse and threw it into the fire. She cleaned up the lawn, took off her outer clothes, pants, and shoes, and threw them all into the blaze, along with the baseball bat and white gloves.
After all traces were erased.
The supernatural mist completely dissipated.
Without a backward glance, she turned and left.
Back in the car, she changed into the clothes she had prepared in advance, put on a new pair of white gloves, and started the engine.
*VROOM.*
Soon, the engine roared to life, and the car shot forward.
Behind her, the massive fire spread, completely engulfing the entire detached villa. Many people in the area noticed the commotion and rushed over, shouting, calling the fire department—a scene of chaos.
No one even noticed a car driving away.
「An unknown amount of time passed.」
The car returned to its original parking spot.
After Xia Yu finished cleaning any traces from inside the car, the only change was that the fuel gauge had dropped by one bar.
Then, she strode away, found a corner, took off the white gloves, and burned them...
