I reincarnated as an elf .......and married the yandere villainess.
Chapter 437:Eruption.
Chapter 437: 437:Eruption.
His six elements erupted; wind blasted through the chamber, water condensed across the walls, ice covered the floor, fire appeared, earth trembled and lightning exploded through the ceiling.
Atheline couldn’t control any of it. Something had changed, something enormous.
He looked upward.
"Too early."
Lilith frowned.
"What?"
Atheline forced himself upright.
"The seal."
The palace alarm sounded twice, then it didn’t stop.
Zelpher entered without knocking.
"Your Majesties!"
Lilith turned.
"Report."
"Corruption manifestations across the kingdom. Simultaneous. North, south and western territories."
"Numbers?"
"Unknown."
"Capital?"
"Nothing inside the mountains yet."
Atheline hated that word.
Another messenger arrived, then another.
The council chamber filled within minutes. The noble elder entered with several surviving councillors. Military commanders followed.
Maps were unrolled and reports landed on tables faster than they could be read.
A councillor looked toward Lilith.
"We need to close the borders."
"No."
Everyone looked toward Atheline.
The councillor frowned.
"Your Majesty?"
"There are no borders anymore."
Atheline pointed toward the reports.
"Look at the locations."
Human continent.
Demonic continent.
Beastmen.
Elven territories.
Dragonic Island.
Everywhere.
"This isn’t an invasion moving from one location." He looked around the room. "The enemy is appearing through the seal’s network."
The noble elder understood.
"The old World Tree roots."
"Yes." Atheline looked toward Lilith. "If every surviving root can become an opening, nowhere connected to the old world’s Aether veins is safe."
That meant almost everywhere.
A communication crystal activated.
Draco appeared, his armor covered in frost and blood.
"Atheline."
"How bad?"
"Bad enough that I’m not wasting time with pleasantries."
Eliana appeared behind him. Something enormous roared beyond the communication image.
Draco didn’t turn.
"Something broke."
"We felt it."
"Can you repair it?"
Atheline hated his answer.
"No."
Draco became silent.
"Not yet."
That was worse.
Another communication activated.
Seragus, then the High Elven King, then Human rulers.
For the first time in recorded modern history, the leaders of nearly every major race appeared in the same emergency communication network. The world was ending too quickly for etiquette.
Atheline looked at them.
"We need to cooperate."
A Human king laughed bitterly.
"An insightful observation."
Atheline ignored him.
"The corruption is divine power leaking through a damaged seal."
Several rulers who hadn’t received the complete explanation reacted.
Atheline continued.
"The being behind it is the ancient Sovereign of Fire."
Silence.
"He caused the Sovereign War." Atheline didn’t soften it. "He manipulated the ancient Sovereigns into killing one another, collected their Divine Authorities and attempted to become a god using the original World Tree."
The High Elven King stared.
"The Cataclysm."
"Was his failed ascension," Atheline finished.
Nobody spoke.
"The Supreme Sovereign stopped him but couldn’t kill him after he’d partially crossed into divinity. Fire was sealed outside the mortal world using the remains of the original World Tree." Atheline looked toward the High Elven King. "Your World Tree grew from part of that same network."
The High Elven King’s expression hardened.
"So the corruption inside it..."
"Is coming through the seal."
Draco spoke. "How much of the seal broke?"
"I don’t know."
Atheline looked toward the red wound in the sky visible through the window.
"But enough."
Seragus crossed his arms.
"What happens if it breaks completely?"
Atheline looked at him.
"The Sovereign of Fire returns."
"And?"
Atheline thought about the Cataclysm, a partially ascended god, thousands of years beyond the mortal world and divine power leaking through cracks.
"If he’s still unstable..." Atheline paused. "The world probably won’t survive him entering it."
That ended the political discussion.
Armies were divided according to need rather than race.
Dragonic Island would control the oceans and prevent corrupted sea creatures from reaching evacuation routes.
The Demonic armies would reinforce the southern seal lines. Beastkin would hold the great land routes.
Dwarves would enter the ancient underground Aether tunnels and destroy corrupted nests forming around the roots.
Human armies would reinforce whichever fronts were collapsing fastest.
High Elves would defend the World Tree. Dark Elves would protect the central Elven territories and maintain teleportation routes between armies.
Nobody liked every arrangement but didn’t matter.
Lilith ended the argument with six words.
"Complain after the world survives."
Nobody objected.
Then another message arrived, not through a communication crystal, through Atheline.
He froze.
Something touched his mind. It was small, distant and familiar.
Atheline’s eyes widened.
"Lyria."
Lilith immediately looked toward him.
"The fairies?"
Atheline nodded.
The connection disappeared, then returned. It was weak and desperate.
Atheline grabbed Lilith’s hand.
"I need to go."
"I’m coming."
Neither argued.
They teleported as far as possible toward the Demonic Continent before the unstable Aether prevented further movement.
From there, Atheline used Wind and Lightning. Lilith moved through darkness.
They reached the hidden sanctuary faster than should have been possible to find that the barrier was collapsing.
Atheline stopped outside it.
The sanctuary he’d once struggled to find was visible from the forest. That alone terrified him.
"Lyria!"
The barrier opened and they entered.
Fairies were everywhere.
Hundreds flew between enormous crystals surrounding the sanctuary. Some had collapsed while others were bleeding.
Lyria stood at the center.
She looked exhausted.
"You’re late."
Atheline stared at her.
"I came as soon as..."
"Not you."
Lyria looked upward.
"The war."
Atheline’s expression changed.
"You knew?"
"We knew it could return."
Lilith stepped forward.
"The seal."
Lyria looked at her, then nodded. Atheline remembered the book from Doom Cave.
The fairies sacrificing lifespan, wings and lives to maintain the barrier. He’d assumed it protected their sanctuary.
His stomach dropped.
"It wasn’t your barrier."
Lyria smiled sadly.
"Not only ours."
Atheline looked around. The crystals, both moon and sun, ancient formations, doom Cave and the orb; everything connected.
"The fairy sanctuary is part of the seal."
"One of the oldest surviving pieces."
Lyria raised her hand and the sanctuary changed. For the first time, Atheline saw beneath the illusion.
Ancient World Tree roots, thousands of them.
They passed beneath the sanctuary. Crystals had been built around them.
Fairies hovered beside each root, continuously feeding Aether into formations older than their civilization.
Atheline couldn’t speak.
Lyria looked toward him.
"Our ancestors didn’t hide here merely to survive the Cataclysm." Her wings trembled. "They stayed to keep this section closed."
Atheline remembered the records. Some fairies volunteered while some were forced. A generations sacrificed, not merely for a sanctuary, but for the world.
"Why didn’t you tell us?"
Lyria laughed bitterly.
"Would you have believed us?"
Atheline had no answer.
The sanctuary shook and a root cracked. Several fairies screamed as black-red fire erupted.
Lilith moved instantly.
Darkness swallowed the flame, not extinguishing it, containing it.
Her face changed. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ
"This isn’t Fire."
Lyria looked at her.
"No."
Lilith’s Darkness trembled.
"It’s Authority."
Atheline drew his bow.
Corrupted creatures began emerging from the roots. The first arrow, carried by wind, left before one fully formed. Lightning released at impact and the creature’s head vanished.
Atheline fired again and again.
Fairies joined them. For the first time since he’d discovered the sanctuary, Atheline saw them fight.
Light filled the hidden world, moon crystals activated and sun crystals burned.
Lilith spread darkness across an entire section of the sanctuary, suppressing corrupted manifestations before they could fully emerge.
Atheline moved between roots.
The final war had begun before he was ready.
Across the world, battles erupted.
Draco froze an entire section of ocean and stood upon it while thousands of corrupted creatures charged.
His Sovereign Authority descended; ice wasn’t merely cold around him, it became stillness and preservation.
An absolute declaration that movement ended where Draco decided it ended. Creatures froze before touching him.
Eliana flew overhead in her true dragon form.
Her roar shattered clouds. She descended into a mass of corrupted flying beasts and tore through them. The Dragon Queen hit the ocean hard enough to send frozen waves into the sky.
Draco glanced toward her.
"You could be slightly more careful."
Eliana ripped the head from a corrupted wyvern.
"You could complain slightly less."
Draco froze another thousand creatures.
"I wasn’t complaining."
"You were born complaining."
Their forces roared behind them.
