At the school gates.

Shen Rou and Zhang Lan loaded all their luggage into the trunk of the car. However, due to limited space, two pieces of luggage had to be placed in the back seat.

Once they were in the car, they gave the driver the specific address, and the vehicle slowly pulled away.

After some time, the driver pulled over at the curb.

Zhang Lan double-checked the address to ensure there were no mistakes, then paid the fare. They got out and retrieved their luggage.

“Let’s go. The residential complex right ahead is the one,” Zhang Lan said to Shen Rou, carrying two bags.

“Mhm!”

Shen Rou nodded as she looked at the familiar layout of the complex. She picked up her luggage and followed behind Zhang Lan.

As they reached the entrance of the complex, Zhang Lan took out her key card, opened the gate, and stepped inside first.

Shen Rou was about to follow with her luggage when she saw two girls approaching from a short distance away, both carrying a pile of items.

She held the gate open for a moment to prevent it from closing.

“Thank you,” Yang Yaoyao said hurriedly, clutching the daily necessities she had just bought from the supermarket as she quickened her pace into the complex.

“Thank you!” Liu Weiwei also voiced her thanks and followed her in.

Shen Rou responded with a polite smile. Once both of them were inside, she entered as well and caught up with Zhang Lan, who was waiting further ahead.

“Yaoyao, look at the badge on that girl’s chest. It looks like Mingri Group,” Liu Weiwei whispered to Yang Yaoyao, glancing at Shen Rou’s back as she carried her luggage.

“You noticed it too? I thought I was seeing things,” Yang Yaoyao nodded. She had noticed it as well.

However, the badge that girl was wearing was slightly different from the ones they had received today. It seemed a bit smaller, but the craftsmanship appeared more refined.

The two girls exchanged a look, their eyes filled with surprise. They hadn’t expected to run into a fellow Mingri Group employee in this very complex.

“Let’s go ask. If we’re working at the same place, we can commute together in the future,” Liu Weiwei suggested after a moment’s thought.

“Good idea!” Yang Yaoyao agreed.

Having reached an agreement, they quickened their pace to catch up with Shen Rou.

“Hello, excuse me, are you an employee of Mingri Group?”

Shen Rou was following Zhang Lan deeper into the complex when she heard the voice behind her. She stopped and turned around curiously.

She quickly realized it was the two girls she had just held the door for.

“You know me?” Shen Rou asked, puzzled.

But on second thought, she figured these two girls were likely Mingri Group employees as well. As President Chen’s assistant, it wasn’t particularly strange for employees to recognize her.

However, the two girls shook their heads in unison.

One of them pointed to the badge on her chest. “We just joined the company yesterday, so we aren’t familiar with the staff yet. I recognized you by the badge you’re wearing.”

The badge.

Shen Rou looked down at her chest and realized what had happened. After finishing work today, she had gone straight back to her dorm to pack, never thinking to change her clothes. Consequently, she was still dressed in her work attire.

Once she understood, she gave them a slight smile. “Which company within Mingri Group did you join?”

“Boring Short Video,” Yang Yaoyao answered, then introduced herself. “I’m Yang Yaoyao, and this is Liu Weiwei. Since we’re all Mingri Group employees, we can head to work together in the future.”

“Sure, that sounds good. I’m Shen Rou, and this is Zhang Lan. She isn’t with Mingri Group; she’s my best friend,” Shen Rou replied with a smile, introducing Zhang Lan.

The four of them continued walking into the complex together.

After a short while, Shen Rou noticed that Yang Yaoyao and Liu Weiwei were still walking the same path. She asked curiously, “Which building are you in?”

“Building 8,” Yang Yaoyao replied casually, then asked back, “What about you?”

“Building 8 as well,” Shen Rou said, smiling.

She thought to herself that it was no wonder they were still together; being in the same building was quite a coincidence.

Soon, the four reached Building 8 and entered the same unit door. They stepped into the elevator, and it wasn’t until they pressed the button for the same floor that they all looked at each other in shock.

“You live on the 9th floor too?” Yang Yaoyao asked incredulously as she watched Zhang Lan press the button for the ninth floor.

“Yes, Unit 902,” Zhang Lan replied. Seeing the changing expressions on Yang Yaoyao and Liu Weiwei’s faces, she sensed something was up and asked tentatively, “Are you in Unit 901?”

There were only two units per floor. Since they were in Unit 2, if the others lived on the same floor, they had to be in Unit 1.

Sure enough, Yang Yaoyao and Liu Weiwei both nodded.

Upon confirmation, all four of them looked stunned. This was far too much of a coincidence!

Ding!

The elevator reached the ninth floor. Snapping out of their daze, they stepped out.

“Feel free to drop by whenever you have time. Since we’re all Mingri Group employees, we can discuss work stuff together,” Shen Rou said to Yang Yaoyao and Liu Weiwei with a smile.

“Will do!” Yang Yaoyao and Liu Weiwei nodded together.

After a few more pleasantries, they opened their respective doors and entered their apartments.

Early the next morning, at Chenglin Decoration.

Inside the conference room, Supervisor Qi Bu was speaking animatedly from the podium.

“Everyone’s performance has slipped recently. If it weren’t for Supervisor Wang Yang, our branch would definitely be in last place in this performance ranking.”

“I don’t want to nag, but your performance is tied to your salary. The better you do, the more you earn. Can’t you all put in a little more effort for the sake of your own paychecks?”

“…”

After a long while, Supervisor Qi Bu paused to take a sip of water from a cup on the table before continuing.

“I won’t waste any more breath on lectures. Simply put: if you want to make more money, get more orders.”

“Next, I have some good news. The decoration office in Beijing has recently taken on two more store renovations for Nanhe Coffee, so we’ll be sending two more construction teams there.”

“However, considering Chen Jun is already supervising seven construction teams and seven sets of design blueprints, he’s stretched too thin. Therefore, headquarters has decided to dispatch one more designer. Of course, this trip will only grant you a commission for those two specific stores. But we’ve communicated with Nanhe Coffee, and they’ve indicated that if all goes well, the number of stores to be renovated will gradually increase.”

“If anyone wants to go, you can sign up with Wang Yang. He will be responsible for the selection.”

As Supervisor Qi Bu finished speaking, every designer in the room turned their gaze toward Wang Yang.

Feeling a bit uncomfortable under the collective stare, Wang Yang looked toward Supervisor Qi Bu.

“Brother Qi, you decide on the candidate. I’m fine with whoever.”

In this decoration company, the only person he was truly close with was Chen Jun; he didn’t have much of a relationship with the others.

Since that was the case, it didn’t matter who went; he would receive his share of the commission regardless.

“Alright, I’ll be the one to make the selection then.”

Supervisor Qi Bu nodded and continued.

“I’ve said everything I need to say. Next, I’ll let Supervisor Wang Yang say a few words to everyone.”

“Brother Qi, I don’t really have anything to say!”

Wang Yang hurriedly waved his hand in refusal.

“It doesn’t have to be much, just a few casual words. You’re already a supervisor of this company, so you need to practice. Otherwise, if you don’t even have the authority of a supervisor, no one will listen to you.”

Qi Bu patted Wang Yang on the shoulder with an expression that said, “you can do it.”

Wang Yang looked hesitant. Just as he was trying to think of something to say, the phone in his pocket suddenly began to ring.

“Take the call first, then speak when you’re done,” Qi Bu said with a smile.

Wang Yang was the company’s golden boy. Currently, several branch offices had already petitioned headquarters to have Wang Yang transferred to them.

This was a major crisis!

Naturally, he had to treat Wang Yang well. If Wang Yang ever became dissatisfied with him and applied for a transfer to another branch, he wouldn’t have a shoulder to cry on.
