I Punch the Tailed Beast Ball

Chapter 598: The Students’ Daily Lives

"Want to go out for a walk, Kankuro?" Chojuro asked.

Kankuro thought about it and realized that he had been staying in the dormitory lately, even ordering takeout for his meals. It was indeed time to go out for a walk, so he nodded in agreement.

Konoha University at night was still not quiet, with men and women strolling around and chatting everywhere.

"Master Sasori has another new work recently. This time, instead of modifying the body, it’s an exoskeleton that you wear directly on your body. So cool!"

"You mean that one? It’s indeed cool, and it’s really powerful, but it’s way too expensive. I guess only someone with a mine at home could afford it..."

"Have you heard? There are many geniuses among the freshmen. They were already highly regarded before even entering university. There are even rumors that some of those monsters already possess strength surpassing the Kage."

"I really envy those geniuses. With strength and fame like that, they could become teachers at the university without any problem, right? Even if they don’t stay at the university and continue being shinobi, they could quickly become part of the higher-ups."

After hearing the topic about what would happen after graduation, Chojuro’s expression became somewhat heavy.

"The gap between people really is huge. After graduating this year, I’ll definitely have no choice but to go back to Kirigakure in disgrace."

"I’ve never even gotten first place in my grade once, and my results in the college league were only average.

"If the Fourth Mizukage finds out that I took such a large amount of money for studying abroad but only achieved such ordinary results, then my career as a shinobi will probably be over after I return to Kirigakure."

Seeing Chojuro’s mood gradually sink, as if he were about to dig a hole and bury himself right there, Kankuro hurriedly spoke.

"Don’t be so pessimistic. How could they possibly not let you be a shinobi anymore? Besides, your grades aren’t..."

As he spoke, Kankuro suddenly remembered something. This guy’s grades were not bad at all!

"You call making it into the top sixteen in the college league finals ’average’? And didn’t you make it into the top ten in your grade before? If that’s called ordinary results, then what about someone like me, whose best ranking was only fiftieth? Should I just kill myself right here?"

The veins on Kankuro’s fist bulged. He almost wanted to immediately have his puppet take out a keyboard and send the arrogant bastard’s entire family tree to the afterlife.

"Is that so?" Chojuro smiled shyly.

Seeing Chojuro still grinning foolishly, Kankuro became even more annoyed. However, he actually knew that Chojuro might genuinely not be doing it on purpose.

Because Chojuro was simply the kind of person who was shy and lacked confidence. In his eyes, he was just a weak and helpless shinobi.

As for his actual strength, Kankuro had heard that before coming to Konoha University, this guy had been known as the number-one prodigy of Kirigakure.

The two walked and chatted, eventually discovering that they had arrived at a large sports field.

This large sports field was located between the dormitory buildings and the teaching buildings. There were not many people here during the day, but at night, many people came here to exercise or take a walk.

Kankuro glanced at the track. There were many pairs of men and women taking walks. Then he looked at the grass, where many pairs of men and women were laughing and chatting. Then he looked at the steps, where many pairs of men and women were...

"Maybe we shouldn’t have come here." Kankuro’s mood immediately turned sour.

He had unconsciously walked to the sports field and almost forgotten that the sports field at night was a forbidden zone for single people.

He glanced at Chojuro and thought that at least there were two of them. Although they weren’t a man-and-woman pairing, it was still better than being alone.

"Then should we go back?" Chojuro asked.

"Since we’re already here, let’s walk a couple of laps before going back," Kankuro replied.

Going back just because there were too many couples after entering the sports field—wouldn’t that mean directly admitting defeat to those hateful couples?

The two entered the track and leisurely walked around it, occasionally transforming into instructors and giving evaluations to the students confidently singing on the sports field.

"This singing isn’t good. There’s no technique, only emotion."

"This person’s actually not bad, but why do they have an accent?"

Kankuro didn’t have the courage to sing himself, but he had plenty of courage to secretly point fingers and criticize others.

As they passed a bend, Kankuro heard a somewhat distinctive female voice. He couldn’t really judge whether the singing was good or not, but the voice itself was somewhat special. Just from hearing it, she gave off the feeling of a well-behaved girl.

Kankuro curiously glanced over. It was a girl with short black hair and a pretty face, wearing a red bodysuit.

Kankuro looked at her, and his gaze unconsciously began moving downward. This girl had very long legs and was also wearing black fishnet stockings.

Her fair, long legs paired with the black fishnet stockings created a strong color contrast that revealed a wild beauty, causing Kankuro’s steps to slow down a little.

"This is pretty good. Very long and... I mean, the singing is long and melodious." Kankuro hurriedly changed his words after almost saying what he was really thinking.

"No need to explain. I understand." Chojuro nodded with a smile, also slowing his steps.

Come on, after living together for so long, how could he not know what kind of person Kankuro was?

Once they had walked beyond the range of the singing, their pace returned to normal, until they circled back there again.

After completing two laps, Chojuro asked, "Going back to the dormitory now?"

Kankuro thought for a moment before saying, "It’s not like there’s anything to do after we go back. Let’s walk a little longer. Getting some fresh air is good too."

Thus, the two continued strolling around the sports field.

Every time they reached that bend, the two would tacitly slow down.

After walking five laps like this, when they passed that bend again, Kankuro suddenly suggested, "We’ve been walking for so long. Why don’t we sit down and rest for a while?"

Chojuro nodded in agreement. Although normally he could easily run fifty laps, right now, he had to be tired.

The two sat down not far from the singing girl.

Kankuro seriously looked in that direction a few times. Before, when they were walking, he hadn’t dared to look too much and had only sneaked glances from the corner of his eye.

Only then did Kankuro notice that the singing girl wasn’t alone. There was a girl sitting on each side of her.

After sitting down, Kankuro discovered that several groups of male pairs similar to them had already sat down nearby.

Some, like them, silently listened to the singing and observed her. Others deliberately put on an affected manner and chatted with their companions, intentionally raising their voices a little and talking about things that sounded profound but were actually incomprehensible, hoping to attract someone’s attention.

While Kankuro despised such behavior inwardly, he was also thinking about how he could let others know that he was the Kazekage’s son without saying anything.

Just then, two more male students walked past. One of them teased the taller boy, and the tall boy laughed and pushed him before turning back and walking toward the girl who was singing.

The tall boy awkwardly scratched his head. "Student, you sing really well. Can I get your contact information?"

The people who had originally been chatting loudly stopped, and the girl who had been singing also stopped. Kankuro’s heart tightened.

"Go back where you came from. Don’t disturb me while I’m singing." The singing girl spoke in a tone completely inconsistent with the obedient one she had used while singing, looking as if she would make sure he suffered if he didn’t leave.

The tall boy could only slink away.

Kankuro’s mood, meanwhile, became extremely complicated.

Although the result was exactly what he wanted to see, the process was unexpected in every sense.

This girl’s temper seemed to be comparable to his sister Temari’s.

He had originally been hesitating about whether he should go over and ask for her contact information, but now he had completely lost his courage.

If he were publicly rejected, his university career would be over.

No, wait. Kankuro was already a fourth-year student. His university career was about to end anyway. His heart became even more desolate.

Although he was complaining inwardly, he was actually envious of that person’s courage. At least that guy had taken action, whereas Kankuro’s number of times taking the initiative to ask a girl for her contact information was zero.

’Come to think of it, I don’t seem to have done anything during these four years of university...’ Kankuro couldn’t help recalling his wasted university life.

During his first year, he had been at his most ambitious, thinking that he could use this great platform to complete his transformation.

But then he discovered that there were simply far too many geniuses. He was nothing special, and he gradually lay down in the face of reality, becoming a keyboard warrior.

The more he thought about it, the more a strange courage suddenly arose in Kankuro’s heart. He wanted to make a change during this final year!

The change would start with his first attempt at approaching a girl.

"I want to..."

"She seems to be that third-year student, Kurotsuchi." Chojuro seemed to recognize the girl who was singing.

"What a pity. She seems to have a childhood sweetheart named Deidara."

"Right, what were you about to say just now?"

"Nothing." Kankuro’s expression became calm as he prepared to return to the dormitory and start killing indiscriminately.
