I Pick up a Lost Godhood
Chapter 677 - 658: Grasping the Sun and Moon
The Demon Seal, now a towering Demon Mountain in the sky, abruptly spun. A dreadful, almost tangible pressure bore down...
Directly below, Meng Ningzhi trembled, her expression shifting drastically. She felt an immense pressure lock onto her like a thousand-pound shackle. Her legs grew weak and her entire body felt powerless. She couldn’t circulate her True Essence or even access her Fate Grid, and it was all she could do to remain on her feet.
"The White Bone God-Sealing Stamp! You... you actually have the White Bone God-Sealing Stamp!"
Meng Ningzhi cried out in horror, her eyes wide with shock. The White Bone God-Sealing Stamp was one of the Thirteen Shocking Religious Artifacts, personally forged by the White Bone Sect Leader. It was a supreme treasure of the White Bone Sect, one not to be used lightly. Rumor had it that it was reserved for dealing with experts at or above the Peak of the Celestial Wheel Realm.
The fame of the White Bone Sect’s Array Techniques and Treasure Artifacts was built on the lives of countless masters, earning the sect its fearsome reputation for rampaging across two realms.
In mid-air, Ghostly Fiend wore a smug expression. He cackled, "The little beauty from the Meng Family has sharp eyes. This is indeed the White Bone God-Sealing Stamp. Heheheh..."
Wang Meng gazed at the massive seal, the Demon Mountain in the sky. ’The White Bone God-Sealing Stamp? This White Bone Sect Leader is quite a character.’
Ghostly Fiend’s cold gaze fell upon the calm and composed Wang Meng. "As expected of the Golden Wolf. To remain unfazed under the pressure of the White Bone God-Sealing Stamp... But don’t bother struggling. It will only make your death more painful. We of the White Bone Sect never fight a battle we aren’t certain to win. I’ve had you in the palm of my hand from the very beginning."
"Is that so?" Wang Meng smiled, the expression conveyed perfectly by his Golden Wolf Mask.
Meng Ningzi stared at Wang Meng. ’How can he still be smiling at a time like this?!’
Ghostly Fiend let out a great, grim laugh. "Haha, you should feel honored! To deal with you, not only did I, Ghostly Fiend, come personally, but I’ve also activated the sect-guarding White Bone Immortal Trapping Array and the White Bone God-Sealing Stamp! What do you think? This reception is far grander than you rate. You’d better have some priceless treasure on you, or I’ll have a hard time explaining all this to the Sect Leader!"
The White Bone Sect had clearly taken into account the strange phenomena Wang Meng had caused in the Divine Sealing Tower, concluding that he must possess some great treasure.
Meng Ningzhi retorted angrily, "Ghostly Fiend! You’re one of the Eight Great Elders of the White Bone Sect, a person of considerable status, yet you resort to setting such a despicable trap! If you have any courage, come and fight me one-on-one!"
"One-on-one?" Ghostly Fiend threw his head back and roared with laughter. "Did you all hear that? The little beauty wants to fight me one-on-one!"
Dozens of White Bone Cultists joined in with sinister laughter. Individually, these men were nothing, but under the protection of the White Bone Sect, they could throw their weight around as they pleased. No one was more loyal, for they knew all too well what fate awaited them without the sect’s protection.
"When we of the White Bone Sect act, we only care about the results, not the methods. If you can break through this White Bone Immortal Trapping Array, I wouldn’t mind fighting you one-on-one... in bed. Heheheheh..."
"You... shameless bastard!" Meng Ningzhi’s body trembled; she was reaching her limit under the pressure of the Demon Seal.
Seeing Meng Ningzhi’s trembling body, Ghostly Fiend’s laughter grew even more depraved. "The little beauty looks so pretty when she trembles. Don’t you worry, Grandpa Ghostly Fiend can’t bear to kill you outright. I just so happen to need a top-quality Furnace Cauldron. Heheheh..."
A flicker of movement in Wang Meng’s eyes. He asked coolly, "What’s your rank in the White Bone Sect?"
Ghostly Fiend was taken aback, surprised that Wang Meng could still be so relaxed. "Our White Bone Sect has a Sect Leader, four Protectors, and Eight Great Elders. What rank do you think I hold?" The two killing techniques were only affecting Meng Ningzhi with their aftershocks; ninety-nine percent of their power was focused solely on Wang Meng.
Wang Meng shrugged. "So you’re just a lackey. All this for you? What a waste of my time."
Ghostly Fiend sneered. "A lackey? Such arrogance. If you have any Magical Treasures, you’d best bring them out now. Hmph, the White Bone Sect leaves nothing to chance. The anomaly you and the Great Zhou Seventh Princess caused on the twenty-eighth floor, your actions outside the tower... you’re clearly most proficient in Heart Spirit Magic. Unfortunately for you, this is Yongwu Gorge, a place where Heart Spirit Magic is easily disrupted. Furthermore, under the suppression of the White Bone God-Sealing Stamp, unless you’re one of the Three Immortals or Five Emperors, even the strongest Heart Spirit Magic will be useless! I advise you not to struggle. I might even leave your corpse intact... all the better for refining you into a Bone Corpse Demon Servant!"
Even as Ghostly Fiend spoke, his actions never faltered. He poured all his energy into driving the White Bone Immortal Trapping Array and the White Bone God-Sealing Stamp, focusing their combined, lethal power entirely on Wang Meng without a moment’s pause. Just as he’d said, the White Bone Sect was thorough, caring only for the final result, not the methods used to achieve it.
Wang Meng paid them no mind. ’Fate Grid?’
Wang Meng extended his right hand. Pinpricks of light began to gather in the air, slowly coalescing into the phantom image of a sword. It was a sword from Wang Meng’s memories.
It was the weapon of the one he had always considered his greatest rival—Wantian’s Demon Sword.
Within Wang Meng, his Primordial Spirit, with its ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety grids, activated completely. The Fate Grid was undeniably a High Tier power, the very source from which Human Cultivators transcended their physical bodies to learn Infinite Divine Power. It was the root of eventually achieving Godhood.
The use of True Essence had its limits, but the Fate Grid was boundless. Though they were in the Middle Thousand Realm, the existence of the Divine Space gave the cultivators here the chance to utilize their Fate Grids prematurely.
For Wang Meng, however, this brought a different kind of chill.
As the phantom gradually took shape, everyone present fell deathly silent. Ghostly Fiend’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. ’Is... is this an illusion?’
The Creation Skill!
’Can it be real? How is this possible!’
Not far away, Meng Ningzhi had the clearest view. This was real. It wasn’t a sword manifested from True Essence, nor was it an illusion. It was true creation.
’What kind of person could possess such power?’
For Wang Meng, it was a simple matter of condensing the Five Elements from the space around him. In that moment, guided purely by instinct, he formed Wangtian’s Demon God Sword.
A flash of insight came to him. Wang Meng closed his eyes, his right hand making a loose fist. The motion was completely natural. Within him, his Fate Grid reconfigured on its own, giving birth to a power that shifted from illusory to real.
In Wang Meng’s empty right hand, the phantasmal image of a Long Sword emerged. A halo of light swirled around it as it gradually solidified...
The blade hummed, a soft sound like the sword itself was whispering.
"So that’s how it is..." His eyes snapped open. Wang Meng looked at the sword in his hand, a regretful expression on his face. "It’s still far from perfect."
In the sky, Ghostly Fiend’s heart lurched. A strange terror began to bloom within him—a sense of crisis that had saved his life countless times before. His heart sank. "Activate the Absolute Array! Wither Ten Thousand Bones—Shattering God!"
Ghostly Fiend had originally planned to capture Meng Ningzhi alive and make her his Furnace Cauldron; her talent could save him a decade of arduous cultivation. But now, a dreadful premonition seized him, and he cast that thought aside, directly activating the Ultimate Killing Technique of the White Bone Immortal Trapping Array.
Meng Ningzhi could no longer remain standing. Her body went limp, and she collapsed to the ground, her face utterly devoid of color, her eyes filled with despair. The Ultimate Killing Technique, Shattering God... even with ninety-nine percent of its power directed at Wang Meng, she couldn’t withstand the last vestiges of its power. Ghostly Fiend, one of the White Bone Sect’s Eight Great Elders, was a tenth-layer Celestial Wheel Realm expert, and the dozens of cultists around him were all at or above the Fifth Layer of the Earth Wheel Realm. They were all attacking with their full might, channeling the White Bone Sect’s guardian Grand Array while the White Bone God-Sealing Stamp suppressed her Heart Spirit from above. The fact that Meng Ningzhi had held on this long was a testament to her own explosive potential.
She looked up at the sky in misery. Countless black lights transformed into streaks of black smoke with long tails. Hideous, faceless ghostly heads flickered in and out of existence upon them as they rained down in a dense, dark mass. This was the White Bone Sect’s infamous Shattering God Annihilating Light, a technique specialized in seizing one’s Heart Spirit. A single touch could destroy a cultivator’s foundation. Even an expert at the Peak of the Celestial Wheel Realm would be reduced to a useless cripple in moments if they couldn’t resist. Normally, the White Bone Sect would unleash nine streams of this light at most when facing an enemy. But now... the sky was full of them!
A savage grin spread across Ghostly Fiend’s face. He was betting everything on this. Three thousand three hundred streams of Shattering God Annihilating Light—the full power of the White Bone God-Sealing Stamp—unleashed all at once. No matter how strong Golden Wolf was... no, even a monstrous expert on the level of the Three Immortals or Five Emperors would have to yield in the face of such an assault!
Wang Meng gazed at the sky...
His gaze pierced through the three thousand three hundred black shadows... through the skeletal corpse erupting with Demon Power... through the layers of clouds...
He seemed to see none of it, his eyes looking past it all. What he saw was the Fate Grid, the laws of the universe, Godhood itself...
The Long Sword in his right hand, which had been swirling with a halo of light, suddenly lost its sheen, revealing its true form!
Illusion had become reality.
BZZZ...
"If Heaven had passion, Heaven itself would age. The righteous path on earth is fraught with worldly change... The Great Dao is heartless!"
VMMMMMMMM~~~~~~~~
In that instant, all color drained from the world. The sword in Wang Meng’s hand seemed to erase everything. This was not Wangtian’s "Heartless Dao." Their paths were different. This was Wang Meng’s own epiphany.
His Heartless Dao!
Annihilate Heaven!
BOOM!
A golden light exploded. In this time and place, all things faded to gray. Only one man and one sword retained their color...
Ghostly Fiend’s eyes widened in horror. ’This is the kind of power possessed only by the Three Immortals, Five Emperors, and Seven Extremes! How can it be here...?’
"You are..."
He would never know the answer.
As if his words were law, the skeletal corpse in the sky instantly exploded into nothingness, leaving not a single trace behind.
The White Bone Immortal Trapping Array, along with the cultists and Ghostly Fiend, was instantly obliterated. In the face of such power, they were no more than ants. More terrifying still, the White Bone God-Sealing Stamp was also shattered, leaving not a single fragment behind!
Everything fell silent. Yongwu Gorge was... calm and clear, with a gentle breeze and a bright sun. The world was serene.
The Long Sword in Wang Meng’s hand chimed once before dissolving into motes of light that vanished into the air. For a moment there, he too had experienced what it felt like to be a pseudo-god.
After reaching a certain level, conflict was decided by one’s realm of comprehension. Even if two people controlled the same type of order, a difference in their realm and understanding resulted in a difference in power. And against a higher realm, there was absolutely no room to maneuver.
Jia Yuan let out a deep sigh. Yi Qinwen had already been killed by the White Bone Sect. The others were scared witless, and the Yi Family sisters were so terrified they dared not make a sound.
They never imagined that the person they had tried to deceive was such a terrifying being, one who could hold the sun and moon in his palm.
Wang Meng pulled Meng Ningzhi to her feet. This time, she didn’t resist, allowing him to take her delicate hand. She simply stared, mesmerized, at his gleaming golden mask.
