I Only Summon Villainesses

Chapter 398: A Demonic Spirit

Right before my eyes, Kassie, riding atop her horse, collided with the Winged Darkness above. Their clash released a tremendous shockwave. One that greatly disturbed the waves of the surface of the sea.

The Airship took a sleek dive, tilting all the way to the left and letting the brunt of the shockwave simply glaze past it.

That was telling of the fact that whatever Gilbert was doing right now, he was very well aware of this development.

Inhaling, I summoned Frostfang and gripped my fist tightly on it.

I thought about throwing myself into battle, but couldn’t ignore the pain that raged across my body.

’If I had an armor, I could have been saved from all of this.’

Gritting my teeth and sucking in the pain, I commanded strength to my body. It was a little but enough to against all odds straighten.

With using Warlord’s Command, I was ever learning and ever growing.

The first few things I had noticed were how very little the effect of terrible words were. For example, I couldn’t tell someone to die, but if I did tell them to die, they wouldn’t die, however, the wounds I gave them might cut deeper.

It was the same with using it on myself.

Giving myself strength didn’t take away the fatigue, it simply made it more bearable. So even now, my body was being ruthlessly ravaged by pain but it felt endurable. Which was a bad thing, because having to endure every joint hammering against my nerves was another kind of torment.

But I pushed myself up regardless and clenched Frostfang tighter, looking around. The edge of the cloak danced in the billowing wind. And I vanished.

I launched myself into the air, leaving a trail of white light. Then I leaped with a devastating impact against the ship, as I shot up, I released knives of flames and exploded with an even more voracious speed.

White flames leaked and splattered everywhere like rain.

Meanwhile, I shot upward like a comet that was leaving the ground instead of firing down on it.

Then I collided with the sky of darkness.

All that consumed my world was once again nothing but darkness. But this time, things were different.

In the ship’s darkness, I had been very mindful as I had a lot of options and didn’t want to damage the ship any further, I couldn’t use my flames.

But here…

Here was different.

No matter what the darkness was that encroached me, all I did was release a torrent of flames around me.

Instantly, there was an undulating rage of pale fire within the darkness and it roared with a thunderous voice. Almost sounding like a beast more than anything.

I wasn’t sure if the flames could burn something immaterial.

However, I poured more essence into it, furiously increasing its intensity. The darkness showed no reaction. No matter how these torrents of flames swirled and thrashed within the embrace of the Dark Sky, it was just as if I was dancing amidst a thick fog of darkness.

However, there was something subtle that I noticed.

Tremors.

Subtle tremors were traveling through the obsidian mass of six wings. And it caught my attention after a while.

’If the shadow is truly immaterial, why are tremors traveling through it?’

Tremors could travel through anything really, however, there was a pattern to how it was felt depending on the medium of transmission.

And a tremor traveling through the wind or anything incorporeal will have far greater impact compared to what the subtle vibrations.

Of course, it could also have been coming from a vast distance. After all, the Darkness we were fighting was a particularly huge one.

But I doubted this was the case, distance could rarely hit up impacts like that one. Especially if they were from Kassie.

Which led me to my second observation.

Whatever Kassie was fghting had to have a physical body to keep getting hit. Of course, this endless sea of darkness had to have a body somewhere for Kassie to be striking it so fiercely that the impact was reaching all the way to its belly here.

My eyes sharpened and instead of simply floating in a place, I broke into flight, and managed to form the raging flames around me into a burning white bird. With my beak, I pierced through the darkness.

Oh well, not in the literal sense of the word.

I simply moved through the blinding darkness, with the incandescent flames of my body illuminating my path.

I released the five chains and sent them into the vast world of darkness, using them to explore the bowels of the darkness.

For a few minutes, I flew across a dark world and found nothing but desolation and gloom. Even with the chains, I couldn’t find what those conduits of tremors could have been. And now that the tremors had stopped, there was no trace of corporealism in this creature. It was truly nothing but a vast, ominous, darkness.

Nothing could affect it.

Flames couldn’t burn it.

Chains could not hold it.

It was absolutely invincible!

’Damnit, I should have suspected something was wrong since even Kassie seemed too wary.’

I mean, I had not recalled seeing Kassie that serious.

Still flying within this boundless dark scape, something suddenly occurred to me.

I remembered Yuan’s grandfather’s journal. Along with that remembrance came other unserious ones but let’s focus on what mattered.

It was his encounter with a Demonic Summoner.

Even till now, I had no idea what kind of power Demonic Summoners received but from how heavily Jian Long had described their kind, it seemed like they were a force as powerful as Heroic Summoners, if not even far more powerful.

This creature didn’t match the description of what a Beast Spirit should look like, it didn’t look like a Heroic Spirit also. And which left me to begin to contemplate the possibility of it being a Demonic Spirit.

’Took me long enough…’

I gulped staring at the dark skies.

“Yea, no doubt about it. This thing has to be one high ranked Demonic Spirit.”
