Su Yi’s words frightened the director, assistant director, and Sun Yuan into huddling together.

Hearing a story like this late at night truly sent chills down the spine.

More importantly, what Su Lan said in the dream corresponded exactly to how the second female lead died in the script.

The character hanged herself, while the actress playing her had also been hanged.

Had Su Lan hanged herself as well?

“So you devised the second female lead’s death based on what your sister said in the dream?” I asked Su Yi for confirmation.

He nodded. “When Su Lan sent me that Dream Projection, I knew she was probably already dead. But I had no way to obtain justice for her. I’m only a minor screenwriter. I’m practically unknown even within the screenwriting industry. How could I possibly redress my sister’s grievance?”

Su Yi spoke with despair. “Sometimes I feel we are no different from people in ancient times. No matter the era, a small number of people will always enslave the majority. Was my sister simply supposed to die for nothing?”

“I could only act for myself. I could only seek justice for Su Lan with my own hands.”

Both directors frowned when they heard him. “What did you do?”

Su Yi stopped hiding the truth and answered honestly, “I originally wrote this script simply as a way to vent. In the first draft, the female Ghost not only killed the women who had slept with the male lead, but also killed the male and female leads in the end.”

“And in the original version, the female Ghost herself took revenge, not her brother. But that version could never pass censorship. Horror movies aren’t allowed to contain real Ghosts, and dark endings aren’t permitted either. I had no choice but to change it so the female Ghost’s brother was the killer. I couldn’t take revenge in reality, so at least I had a spiritual outlet.”

“But I never imagined Lu Yihao would happen to be cast in the movie, much less as the male lead. I thought perhaps this was the will of fate.”

As Su Yi spoke, his expression darkened. “After my sister disappeared, I met Lu Yihao once. He claimed he didn’t know where she had gone. After that, I couldn’t get near him no matter how hard I tried. Now Heavenly God has delivered my enemy right in front of me. How could I let him go?”

I asked, “You wanted to kill Lu Yihao and avenge your sister?”

Su Yi did not answer affirmatively. Only after thinking for a long time did he say, “I caused the first accident, the one involving the supporting actress. I secretly tampered with the props, causing her to fall and break her leg.”

Even I found his confession hard to believe.

I had assumed a Ghost caused the supporting actress’s accident too.

“Do you have any idea how much trouble and financial loss that caused me?”

The director pointed at Su Yi’s nose and cursed. “What else did you do? Tell me everything!”

Su Yi said calmly, “That was the only thing I did. My original plan was to turn my script into reality. I wanted the actresses to suffer accidents first, leading all of you to suspect a vengeful Ghost. More importantly, I wanted Lu Yihao to think in that direction.”

“He killed my sister. I couldn’t let him die easily. I wanted to drive him into a mental breakdown first, then find a way to kill him.”

“But I only carried out the first step of the plan: making the supporting actress break her leg. I had no idea what happened when the second female lead died. I only wanted Lu Yihao dead. I never intended for anyone else to die.”

The director slammed the table and demanded, “Did you tamper with the rig that hanged the second female lead?”

Su Yi hurriedly denied it. “I didn’t touch it. I’m not some all-powerful mastermind. I told you, I have no idea how she died.”

“I’m not actually that brave. After someone died, I was still debating whether to continue my plan. Then more things happened tonight, but none of them had anything to do with me either.”

The director cursed, “You aren’t brave? You’re planning to murder someone, and you say you aren’t brave?”

Su Yi lowered his head. “You have never experienced my despair. Someone murdered my own family, yet I couldn’t obtain justice. She died, and we couldn’t even recover her body. She was family, someone who grew up beside me.”

I asked Su Yi, “Do you think your sister’s wronged spirit caused what happened tonight?”

Su Yi wiped away his tears and shook his head. “I don’t know. I don’t understand any of this, and I didn’t see my sister. But when Zhao Xingyun stood up there and danced, I suspected it might be her.”

After a moment of thought, I said, “Judging by your sister’s personality, she was willing to use her child as leverage against Lu Yihao. She probably wouldn’t do something as foolish as threatening him with suicide. Lu Yihao likely strangled her.”

“The rope your sister mentioned in the dream was the same rope Lu Yihao used to kill her. He never disposed of it separately after her death, so it remains looped around her neck.”

“Your sister sent you the Dream Projection to tell you she was strangled. She can’t return home because Lu Yihao buried her remains somewhere. And the ‘home’ she mentioned wasn’t the home you understood. She meant the netherworld.”

“You must bring her remains home and bury her properly before she can enter reincarnation. Otherwise, she will remain a Wandering Ghost forever.”

When I finished, Su Yi began to choke up. He grabbed me and pleaded, “Master, please help my sister. She has already suffered so much, and I have no idea where she was buried.”

“Please help our family. Name any price. I’ll find a way to pay it.”

I answered honestly, “This problem may be impossible to resolve. Your sister’s wronged spirit has already attached itself to Lu Yihao. If we want to communicate with her, we cannot avoid involving him. But Lu Yihao murdered your sister. He will never allow us to expel the Ghost for him, because then his secret would come to light. He committed murder.”

Su Yi looked utterly defeated, his thoughts likely in complete turmoil.

At that moment, the director delivered yet another blow.

“Su Yi, we’re here to make money. We don’t want to get involved in anything else, and we don’t have the ability to help you.”

“We’ll pretend we know nothing about you or your sister. We also won’t reveal that you caused the actress to break her leg. Let us leave matters there. You don’t need to return to the production.”

The meaning was perfectly clear.

To avoid being dragged into trouble, the director fired Su Yi on the spot.

Su Yi stood frozen for a long time. Without another word, he left with his head bowed in dejection.

I gave Anning a look. She immediately understood and followed him out so they could exchange contact information.
