Chapter 712: Formally Meeting the Parents
Chapter 712: Chapter 712: Formally Meeting the Parents
Claire noticed they weren’t taking the route back to Evergreen Garden. "Where are we going?" she couldn’t help but ask.
Adrian Quincy said in a low voice, "We’re going back to Quincy Manor first."
Claire grew a little anxious when she heard that. "If we’re going back to the manor, then what about Faye?"
Adrian Quincy said, "Helen will take care of her. Don’t worry."
"That’s a relief." Claire breathed a sigh of relief. Then she couldn’t help but ask, "Why the sudden trip to the manor?"
"Mother has been brought back home. We’re going to see her."
"Oh." ’The real Mrs. Quincy was finally back.’
’So, were they going to meet his parents?’
At the thought, Claire suddenly felt a little nervous.
However, a thought suddenly occurred to Claire. "Since that Mrs. Quincy was an imposter, what about your father? How could he have never noticed?"
Adrian Quincy shook his head. "Father might have found out long ago, but he didn’t expose her. He was probably threatened."
Hearing this made Claire nervous all over again. "Then is your father in any danger?"
Adrian Quincy shook his head. "Father is already at Quincy Manor taking care of Mother. When we see them, you’ll need to call them Mom and Dad. Let’s do our best to make a good impression on them this time."
"Okay!" Claire nodded emphatically, though she was still a little nervous. "I’m dressed so casually, and my hair is a mess. Will they think I look awful?"
The words had barely left her mouth when Adrian Quincy raised his hand and gently smoothed her hair.
Claire’s heart fluttered. His gentle touch swept away her unease, leaving her feeling deeply moved.
"Claire, trust me. No one will hurt you this time."
"Mm." Claire was already at ease.
’With him by her side, she wasn’t afraid at all.’
The car slowly pulled into Quincy Manor and stopped in the main courtyard.
Adrian Quincy got out first, then walked around to the other car door to help his wife out.
She hadn’t been here in months. Aside from the pruned flowers and greenery, nothing else seemed to have changed.
The couple entered the building together, walked down a long corridor, and headed up to the second floor.
Mrs. Quincy was lying in a guest bedroom. Having been confined to a dark room for so long, her skin had an unnatural pallor, her features were gaunt, and her eyes were listless.
Old Master Quincy sat by the bed, a bowl of porridge in his hands, carefully spooning it to his wife.
Hearing footsteps outside, Mrs. Quincy suddenly perked up and pushed the bowl away. "Is that Adrian? Has he brought his wife?" 𝐟𝒓ℯⅇ
"If they’re here, they’re here," said Old Master Quincy. "Just finish your porridge."
"How can I eat? I haven’t even met my daughter-in-law yet! Put it away, quickly. I can’t let her see me looking so drained."
"Alright, alright, have it your way." Old Master Quincy had no choice but to set the porridge aside.
Just then, Adrian Quincy walked in, supporting his wife by the arm.
The first thing Mrs. Quincy noticed was Claire’s round belly. Her gaze lingered there for a few seconds before traveling up to finally rest on Claire’s exquisitely beautiful face.
"Oh my, look how big your belly is! Come here, come let your mother have a look. Quickly now." Mrs. Quincy beckoned excitedly.
Claire Sinclair was a bit taken aback by the warm welcome. Remembering the cruelty she’d suffered at the hands of the fake Mrs. Quincy last year, she still felt a little insecure, as if this moment wasn’t quite real.
She only snapped back to reality when Adrian squeezed her palm. She quickly said, "Dad, Mom, hello. I’m Claire Sinclair. You can call me Claire."
Mrs. Quincy nodded repeatedly. "Claire. That’s a much prettier name than your sister’s. Now, come over here."
