Chapter 610: Chapter 610: Has Master Lost Her Mind?
Claire glanced at him and asked, "I heard your uncle is twenty-nine and still doesn’t have a girlfriend?"
Theo was taken aback. "Yeah. My uncle probably doesn’t like women. He’s not interested in anyone we introduce him to. Master, why do you ask?"
"I want to set him up with someone."
"Master, you...?" Theo was incredulous.
Claire said calmly, "Ask your uncle to meet me at noon today. I want to talk to him."
Theo looked troubled. "Master, my uncle has a... difficult personality. He doesn’t listen to anyone. If I managed to get him to meet you, pigs would fly."
Claire raised an eyebrow. "He won’t do it for anyone?"
"That’s right."
"Then give me his number. I’ll try texting him."
Theo hesitated for a moment before saying, "Alright then, Master. But don’t get your hopes up."
"It’s fine. Just give me the number."
Theo opened his phone’s contacts, found Lucas’s number, and read it aloud.
Claire typed the number into her phone and sent a text: Mr. Rhodes, this is Claire Sinclair. I’d like to introduce you to someone. She is 20, very pretty, and her name is Ivy Tanner. She’s Ethan Kingsley’s ex-fiancée.
Theo craned his neck to see and exclaimed, "Master, you’re setting my uncle up with a simple-minded girl?"
’Has Master gone crazy?’
’What man would want a woman with the mental capacity of an eight-year-old!’
Claire let out a soft breath. "I don’t want to waste your uncle’s time, so I got straight to the point. Let’s see what he says."
Theo said meekly, trying to burst her bubble, "I don’t think he’ll even reply."
The next second, Theo had to eat his words.
Lucas texted back: Reason?
Claire replied: Can we discuss it in person?
Lucas: Location.
Claire: Starflame Cafe, near Astoria Tower.
Lucas: 12 PM. Wait for me there.
Claire: Okay.
The exchange was over.
Theo stood to the side, completely dumbfounded. "Master, you’re amazing..."
Claire smiled and patted his shoulder. "Keep it up, kiddo."
Theo: ...
–
Claire arrived at the cafe right on time. Just then, she saw Lucas Rhodes approaching from the other side. He was in a wheelchair, pushed by a male assistant.
The two exchanged greetings, then went into a private room to sit.
Before getting down to business, Claire had Landon Winston stand guard outside. She didn’t want this conversation to be overheard by anyone uninvolved.
Seeing her acting so mysteriously, a flicker of doubt crossed Lucas’s eyes. "Claire Sinclair, on what grounds are you introducing Third Miss Tanner to me?"
"As a friend," Claire said bluntly.
"Whose friend?"
"Ivy Tanner’s."
A chill veiled Lucas’s deep eyes, his indifference laced with suspicion. "As far as I know, Third Miss Tanner has the mental capacity of an eight-year-old. And you’re her friend?"
Of course, Claire understood his skepticism. She decided not to beat around the bush. "Mr. Rhodes, this has nothing to do with my boyfriend. This is a personal favor I need to ask of you."
"This wasn’t Young Master Quincy’s idea?" Lucas clearly didn’t believe her.
Claire said, "I originally wanted to ask Mr. Quincy for help, but he refused because of his position. He did, however, suggest I come to you directly."
A mocking smile touched Lucas’s lips. "And you’re still saying it wasn’t his idea."
"It really wasn’t. This matter is very complicated—it involves two lives. I had no other choice but to come to you for help."
"Whose two lives?"
