I Married the President
Chapter 602: Blame Your Bad Fate
Chapter 602: Chapter 602: Blame Your Bad Fate
Ivy Tanner weighed barely a hundred pounds. When a burly man like that slammed into her, she was instantly knocked to the ground.
Before she could even cry out in pain, the drunkard took advantage of the situation, grabbed her foot, and began to molest her.
"Hey, little beauty, you have very nice feet."
"Let me go! Let go!"
Ivy Tanner tried to struggle, but the drunkard was far too strong. Her efforts were feeble and useless.
A crowd of onlookers quickly gathered, but no one wanted to step in and stop the drunkard’s assault. They were all there to watch the show.
Unable to break free, Ivy Tanner started to cry in fear, repeatedly calling out for "Brother Kingsley." Unfortunately, the person she was calling for wasn’t there.
On the second-floor balcony, Corinne Linden stood by the railing, watching the scene with cold eyes as a smug smile slowly formed on her lips.
’If Ethan Kingsley can’t bring himself to get rid of this discarded pawn, then I’ll take care of her.’
’No woman is taking a single thing from my man—not his affection, not his wealth. Everything about him belongs to me and me alone.’
’Ivy Tanner, if you have to blame someone, blame your own bad luck. Don’t blame me for being ruthless.’
Corinne Linden’s smile vanished. She started down the stairs, quickly pushed her way through the crowd, and arrived at the scene.
By then, the drunkard had pinned Ivy Tanner to the ground, like a starving hyena drooling over a lamb right at its lips.
Seeing this, Corinne Linden called out expressionlessly, "Security, help Young Master Lowell upstairs to rest."
"Yes, ma’am." Two security guards emerged from the crowd and forcibly dragged the drunkard to his feet.
Freed, Ivy Tanner immediately sat up, curling into herself. Her hands flew to pull her clothes back into place, helpless and frantic.
Corinne Linden softened her tone and said, "Third Miss Tanner has had a fright. Owens, you help her upstairs to rest as well."
Owens was Corinne Linden’s assistant. Upon receiving the order, she immediately stepped forward, roughly pulled Ivy Tanner up from the floor, and began dragging her toward the staircase.
Seeing that the show was over, the gawkers began to disperse.
Corinne Linden watched Ivy Tanner’s retreating back, a cunning glint in her eyes and a slight smile playing on her lips.
’After today, that imbecile Ivy Tanner will be completely stripped of her title as Ethan Kingsley’s ex-fiancée. Instead, she’ll become the new favorite pet of the Lowell Family’s only son.’
’This is your fate, Ivy Tanner. You never should have clung to Ethan Kingsley.’
Just as she was reveling in her perfectly calculated plan, a petite but powerful figure suddenly appeared at the hall’s entrance.
"Ivy Tanner!" the girl shouted, instantly drawing everyone’s attention.
All heads turned toward the voice, and every face showed a look of astonishment.
"What is Claire Sinclair doing here?!"
"She’s Young Master Quincy’s girlfriend, so doesn’t that make her a rival of the Linden Family?"
"Rival? She’s an outright enemy."
"What’s she here for?"
Claire Sinclair walked in as if no one else existed, heading straight for Ivy Tanner.
Ivy Tanner heard her voice and tried to run over, but Owens held her in a death grip, twisting her arm forcefully in a clear warning not to move.
Claire Sinclair vaguely sensed something was wrong and quickened her pace, only for Corinne Linden to suddenly step forward and block her path.
"Claire Sinclair, what are you doing here?"
Claire Sinclair met her gaze openly and said coolly, "I’m here for my friend."
"Your friend?" Corinne Linden glanced instinctively at Ivy Tanner. "I wasn’t aware she had friends of your caliber."
A faint smile touched Claire Sinclair’s lips. "I don’t choose my friends based on status or class. I just care if we have something in common. As it happens, Ivy Tanner and I get along well, so we became friends."
