Chapter 83 - 82: Not Everyone is Like Your Brain-Dead Fans
Chapter 83: Chapter 82: Not Everyone is Like Your Brain-Dead Fans
Lin Zhenxiang wept piteously, but it was no sudden torrent. Her tears fell like a gentle, trickling stream, carrying a restrained power that made her tremble and tugged at one’s heartstrings.
It was enough to make anyone pity her.
Through a thick, nasal tone, she sobbed, "...That day, I was livestreaming at Luoxing Port, and I thought it was strange when I saw Sister Shu. I didn’t think much of it at the time, though. But then for this to suddenly happen today... I refuse to believe she has nothing to do with it!
Besides, Sister Shu transferred to our school yesterday, and who knows what she said to Wen Miaomiao from our class. Last night, Wen started saying all sorts of inappropriate things during my livestream! And then this morning, she even came right up to me...
Edgar from our class only said a few words in my defense, and Wen’s childhood friend pinned him to the ground and beat him up..."
Her words utterly humiliated Edgar.
Edgar was a little angry, but the moment he recalled the sorry state You Dan was in when the Commander-in-Chief took him away, his anger vanished. He even felt a bit smug.
"So... you believe that the person who attacked you today, as well as the verbal abuse from Wen, were all instigated by... Shu?" Qin Shiwei summarized the meaning Lin Zhenxiang had been subtly conveying.
Lin Zhenxiang lowered her tear-filled eyes, looking aggrieved yet submissive. "Please, see the truth, Commander-in-Chief!"
’Wen Miaomiao and that explosive temper of hers!’
She was about to step forward and expose Lin Zhenxiang for the scheming bitch she was, but Shu Yao held her back.
Just then, Qin Shiwei spoke, his voice faint. "So, Lin, are you saying that everything that’s happened to you is completely unrelated to you reporting Li Dahai, sending that fishmonger to the interstellar prison, and all your other actions?"
Lin Zhenxiang’s expression faltered, and she tried to mask her unease with quick, choked sobs.
Wen Miaomiao sneered. "No one would hurt you for no reason! We’re not rabid dogs that bite anyone who comes near!"
Seeing that no one dared to interrupt her and that the Commander had no intention of stopping her, she couldn’t help but say more:
"Lin Zhenxiang, you don’t actually think that as long as no one mentions all the crap you’ve pulled, you can just pretend to be pure as the driven snow and that makes you innocent, do you?!"
You’re only fooling yourself!
"Not everyone is as gullible as your mindless fans!"
The most foolish, most ridiculous thing Lin Zhenxiang had done to date was probably deluding herself into thinking that the Commander-in-Chief of the entire Interstellar Alliance standing before her was as easy to fool as her mindless fans.
"Li Haisheng," Qin Shiwei asked, his tone placid, "do you know Shu?"
Li Haisheng looked toward Shu Yao, sizing her up for a moment before shaking his head in confusion. "I don’t know her."
He glared at Lin Zhenxiang, whose face had stiffened, and stressed every word as if it were agony. "I came for you today only because you framed my father and sent him to the interstellar prison! This has nothing to do with anyone else!"
Lin Zhenxiang composed herself and reminded him righteously, "I have evidence that your father broke the law!"
Just as Li Haisheng opened his mouth to retort, the Commander-in-Chief’s chillingly quiet voice cut in:
"Let’s not even discuss whether your evidence is real or fake." Qin Shiwei watched Lin Zhenxiang, his eyes devoid of emotion, his voice flat. "Before you publicly released this so-called evidence last night, not even the Imperial Family knew the specific source from which your Lin’s Restaurant was procuring its substandard ingredients.
I’d like for you to clear something up for me, Miss Lin. How could Shu have possibly predicted the future and conspired with the very fishmonger named in your evidence—and his son—to plan today’s attack *before* you made that evidence public?"
Lin Zhenxiang instinctively tried to argue, but she couldn’t find a single rational explanation amidst her chaotic thoughts.
"Las... last night..." She was tongue-tied.
Qin Shiwei’s tone was still flat, yet it somehow felt several degrees colder. "Are you suggesting that Shu began planning all this last night, after you released the evidence?"
Lin Zhenxiang bit her lip, not denying it.
Qin Shiwei said faintly, "Star Thieves have been rampant lately. The Federation is under a nightly curfew."
The implication was clear: Shu had no opportunity to travel to Luoxing Port to contact Li Haisheng and his father.
Lin Zhenxiang’s blood ran cold.
But it wasn’t over.
Then, Qin Shiwei added, as if reminding her of a forgotten detail, "Miss Lin, the biggest flaw in this story is one you created yourself."
Lin Zhenxiang’s eyes flew wide in terror and panic. It felt as if a million ants were gnawing at her nerves.
