Chapter 74: Chapter 73: Yesterday, the Madam’s Livestream Was a Constant Stream of Red
Imperial High School.
The pan-Federation unified examination was less than two months away, yet the most heated topic of discussion among the students, both in and out of class, wasn’t their studies. Instead, it was the new food streamer who had blown up on the Star Network the day before.
"Oh my god, over sixty million Star Coins in donations in one night!?"
"This new streamer is probably going to go interstellar!"
"I know, right? I was studying all day yesterday, so I only heard about this new person when I got to school this morning. I hear the food that lady makes is insanely good!"
Insanely good was an understatement. After eating the real thing, you’d want to swallow your own tongue along with it!
"Wait a minute..." a student suddenly remembered something and turned to look at Ke Dancheng, who usually went unnoticed. "Ke Dancheng, I remember you got a delivery the other day..."
Ke Dancheng pushed up his glasses and nodded, his expression unchanging.
"It was from that lady you’re all talking about."
"What!?"
WHOOSH. In an instant, twenty or thirty students swarmed around Ke Dancheng. He had always been a loner and had never received this kind of attention. He looked a little uncomfortable being surrounded by his classmates.
He lowered his head and recounted to his classmates how he had discovered the new streamer.
It was actually a rather unremarkable story.
But his classmates all exclaimed how lucky he was.
"The taste... what was it like?" one student asked, practically drooling.
Ke Dancheng nodded. "It was amazing. I finished the fish noodle soup in one go as soon as it arrived. I saved a little bit of the pan-fried crispy fish crumbs, and I’m planning to give them to my aunt when the break starts. She’s pregnant and throws up everything she eats; she can’t even keep nutrient solution down..."
"AHHH, you’re so lucky! Why don’t things like that ever happen to me!"
"Um, uh, could you take out the fish crumbs and let us get a whiff?"
Ke Dancheng shook his head and awkwardly refused. "No. When the lady sent it to me, she included a special note. The fish crumbs have to be kept sealed when you’re not eating them. If they get damp, it’ll ruin the texture, and they won’t taste good anymore."
A wave of disappointed sighs went through the crowd.
"The food that lady makes is delicious, and she’s a really nice person, too," Ke Dancheng couldn’t help but add. "If she hadn’t ended her stream early yesterday, I bet the donations in her channel would have surpassed one hundred million..."
"A hundred million!?"
"No way!!"
Ke Dancheng: "It’s true. A bunch of whales who are usually active on the Star Network’s food streaming platform—the really rich ones—kept donating nonstop to get the new lady to open up more tasting slots. Her channel was just a constant stream of red alerts yesterday..."
Suddenly, a shout came from the classroom doorway: "Wen Miaomiao and Lin Zhenxiang from Class One are fighting!"
"Wen Miaomiao... isn’t she in our class now?"
"Let’s go see what’s going on!"
The Class One classroom.
"Lin Zhenxiang, not only are you shameless enough to not admit your own mistakes, but you’re also pushing the blame on everyone else! I really don’t know how someone like you ever got famous!"
Wen Miaomiao’s accusations against Lin Zhenxiang, made in front of her old classmates from Class One, were loud enough to attract students from other classes. She glared fiercely at Lin Zhenxiang, who was hiding behind Huo Jiao and the others with a pitiful look on her face.
Huo Jiao looked at her like she was an idiot. "Wen Miaomiao, we’re all classmates here. Why are you siding with an outsider!?"
"During the livestream yesterday, Lin Zhenxiang herself admitted that her family’s restaurant bought a cheap batch of diseased fish and made people sick! Shouldn’t she be apologizing to them!?"
Wen Miaomiao fumed, glaring angrily at the red-eyed, tearful Lin Zhenxiang.
"And Lin Zhenxiang, I’m not afraid to tell you—I’m the one who called you out in your stream yesterday! I’m ’Leng MoMo’!
You have a guilty conscience, so you permanently banned me! That’s why I came to find you in person! Don’t think you can just hide behind other people and this will all blow over!
As long as you don’t apologize, I won’t give you a moment of peace!"
