Chapter 1836: 24.97 Sixth Violet Star - Night Beasts

Under the orders of the God of Destruction, the two systems: Zhi Yue and Zhi Yang, had to leave the mansion in the core region of the Barren Land. They were instructed to look for humans and protect them tonight. System Yue might be the jolly, a bit dense type of system. The reason he is fearless was because of Lord Hei’s presence. After becoming Hei Anjing’s host for a few worlds, he knew that with Lord Hei backing him, he could do almost everything he wanted. Even his powers cannot be fully sealed by the heavenly wills as long as he is moving under the orders of the God of Destruction.

However, this time the fun the God of Destruction had mentioned wasn’t exciting enough for him to come over himself and thus this mission ended up on Zhi Yue who was complaining about being bored. But this silly moon had inherited most of Lord Hei’s personality. Especially the fact that he won’t move unless he feels like it. It’s just in his case, he cannot not move as per Lord Hei’s orders.

Hanging on the back of his partner, Zhi Yang as they flew through the evening night sky, Zhi Yue was pouting along the way.

Zhi Yang asked, "What’s wrong this time? I thought you were bored and asked Master to let you do something exciting."

"That’s not it. Well, I just hope this mission will not be boring," said Zhi Yue.

Zhi Yang chuckled and said, "It would definitely be not. Have you forgotten?"

"Forgot what?" Zhu Yue asked with a confused look on his face.

The God of Sun, Zhi Yang, said, "Master’s level of excitement is different from others. He loves the extreme ones and for him normal and extraordinary ones are just common fun for him. Tonight will definitely be exciting enough. Moreover, he gave us an ultimatum."

"Not to let even a single human die tonight," mumbled the God of Moon, Zhi Yue. "I see. A’Yang, go faster. Woohoo~"

While the two systems were on their way to the inner region of the Barren Lands, at this destination point, the human camp was in the middle of the Barren Land’s inner region...

Before the nightfall, the old marshal had announced about the possible appearance of the demonic beast at night. Because of that, everyone in the camp was too nervous as they ate with the dimming lights of the camp. They can hardly even eat at this moment.

"Have you heard about what is about to happen tonight?"

"You mean the one announced by the old marshal."

"Brats! Why are you so scared of me? I’m just a huge but cute cat~" said Xie Yun.

"Yun’er, you are enjoying yourself by seeing them like this. But I think they might be spared rumors about you being a man eater," said Xie Hei.

Xie Yun said, "I don’t care. Those rumors are just rumors after all. They would be even more surprised if they learned that I am now one of those four beast kings they all feared."

Xie Hei lightly shook his head with a gentle smile. An action showing that he cannot do something about Xie Yun as he adores him and let him do as he wishes. Anyway, he is back. Protecting Yun’er had always been his duty. Since his back this duty, he shall do it until the end of their lives.

All of the sudden, they heard some soldier running back to their side, to be precise they were urgently trying to run towards the main tent to inform the old marshal about what happened to the scout group who had just returned. They were just about to grab someone for questioning when suddenly another group came over.

The difference is that this batch is covered with the scent of blood and most of them are dying. Xie Hei noticed the dark vein lines on these people’s bodies and his face turned serious at that moment.

Xie Yun noticed the changes on his master’s face and asked, "Master, is there something wrong?"

Meanwhile, somewhere in the inner region, a large group of insane beasts with red eyes were coming to the direction where the human camp is located. The sheer numbers of them was at least a hundred and some were big types of beasts that could destroy a village at will. This is the scene the two systems had seen on the way as well.

"Holy shit! What are those?!" Zhi Yue exclaimed.

Zhi Yang observed properly and noticed that these beasts might not be on the right mind.

"They look like beasts but... what’s with their state of mind?" Zhi Yang said.

Zhi Yue noticed something and even saw the only place with light.

He said, "Wait? Are they heading to the direction where the human camp is? We should stop them. I will put something to mask our presence so we can kill them all silently."

Covering the two of them with something like shadow had not only masked their presence, but also their scent and even their voice. The two can still communicate but no one can easily see them at this state.

Zhi Yang said, "Let’s go down."

THUD!

The two went down from the sky and blocked the path of these craze beasts. They killed a few on their way down and were about to fight the rest when these beasts suddenly bypassed them as if they weren’t attracted to them at all. This left the two a bit dumbfounded by the scene.

The beast as if they couldn’t see them at all had just passed by them which is strange and left the two systems dumbfounded.

Zhi Yue was shocked by this experience and exclaimed, "What the hell is wrong with these guys? How come they are ignoring us?"

At this point even the calm God of Sun, Zhi Yang was a bit confused and thought for a moment and noticed the masking his partner had placed on them. This masking is similar to that of a barrier.

"This? A mist type barrier. It blocks sounds and scent but our figures should still exist. There is no way these beasts can’t see us, unless... they couldn’t see," said Zhi Yue as he saw Zhi Yang grabbing one beast and jumping out of the crowd.

He checked the red eyes of the beast and saw that this thing is not blind. However, whatever it might be seeing was different to what he thought. To check on it properly, he tore the barrier around and stood in front of the beast quietly. Zhi Yue was shocked when he saw the beast moving around as if it couldn’t see anything even though Zhi Yang was in front of it.

"Is this thing? Blind?" Zhi Yue asked.

Zhi Yang opened his mouth and said, "Not entirely. But it seems to be unable to hear as well."

"Then how come these beasts can find the human camp under the nightsky?" System Yue asked.

Zhi Yang thought for a moment and realized something. He controlled his qi and made a small sun. The moment the small sun appeared, the beast in front of them as if going insane had run towards where Zhi Yang was. To be precise, it was chasing the light.

The two systems finally realized how these beasts found the human camp in the inner region. The Inner region is dark all day long. But humans cannot live without light, especially during the evening. That’s what attracted this strange beast.

Zhi Yang also noticed something else, "Moreover, as long as this beast saw you holding a light even after you threw it away, it would continue to chase after you as if they had a locking skill on their prey."

After finding out what happened, the two systems finally knew how to resolve the beasts and after killing the one they had just grabbed, they once again chased after the herd of this kind of beasts with half of it being baited by Zhi Yang and the other half still heading to the human camp.

Having no choice but to separate temporarily, Zhi Yue flew towards the human camp wanting to help the humans from fighting these beasts while Zhi Yang took the other half somewhere to be resolved by his own.
