Chapter 28 - The Pyromaniac's Dance
Chapter 28: The Pyromaniac's Dance
After the first wave had fallen to the hero's unique skill and the players' hard work, a brief pause unfurled between the players. The majority of them dropped onto their bottoms and sighed with relief.
The potions went down their throats, and a little of it trickled down their chins as no one spared any consumables.
That pause was because of the unknown existence's preparation.
He prepared his second wave with additional bonuses, and those would soon spread throughout the battlefield.
Inwardly, that existence was pretty irritated, primarily because of the hero!
From what it had inferred, the players were naive and competitive with each other. They worked in small groups as no guild made a name for themselves yet. Thus, it was fair for him to assume that the same would happen here.
The Hero thwarted the existence's plans!
He didn't know what was about to come from a certain pyromaniac!
"It's the second wave!" The players stood up and bared their weapons.
The tanks would be the first ones to answer that call, but Reylin jumped high first! He let out the flames from his hand and punched the tree heavily! The tree shook, and the fire devoured it in an instant.
He clenched his fist for the second time and hit it below... However, this time, Reylin's palm devoured the fireball before. Thus, the fireball punch landed on the tree! It promptly fell onto the second wave, and his flames spread further across the forest!
Reylin wasn't content with just one tree, though.
He repeated the same action as quickly as possible, and just as the tanks' taunts reached the second wave, Reylin's flames spread to around thirty percent of the whole monster army!
"Hahaha!" He laughed while sending out the fireballs.
He did it in the same way, similar to the battle with Lord Hiba. His hands kept swinging, sending those fireballs at the monsters scattered with the burning trees!
Reylin's laughter was just the top of the cake as his deed was quite awesome.
Not many players could achieve the same feat at this current level, and he did it relatively too easily! He influenced the battleground like the hero, the hero that struggled now.
On the second wave, the hero received a nerf from an unknown existence.
He buffed the big elk and savage wolf with the dark matter, causing their forms to increase and become much stronger. Their mouths also could let out the dark matter beams from time to time.
With their focus on Maya, she couldn't spread her influence like before, and the players relied on their own power against the second wave.
This didn't bring the wanted effect, but it was still better than the first wave!
The second wave also had greater numbers, but the pyromaniac's deed brought some worry to the existence's heart...
He looked at Reylin's fireballs, and one question popped into his mind, "When will he stop?"
The Pyromaniac didn't start his dance yet, and his fireballs brought worry to the existence's hearts. Soaked in flames, Reylin had enough mana supply, and his laughter billowed, all to the existence's ire.
"White-haired guy! I have seen and remembered your spear! Want to challenge me?" Reylin didn't know nor care about the existence behind the dark matter zone.
The second wave's leader didn't come out, so his eyes landed on the white-haired guy whose spear was fast as lightning. That man killed a lot of monsters, and he came close to Reylin.
Their eyes met, and that man said, "You really don't recognize me?" His words surprised Reylin a little.
However, Reylin didn't care about their past, if they had any, "I asked you something. I take your question as yes, and that's the beginning of the dance!" The young Reylin received some dancing lessons from his mother.
The dance wouldn't be similar to the one he'd learned in his childhood, but Reylin knew how to move!
His body lit up in flames!
[You have achieved an astonishing feat!]
[The Fire Body Title has been granted to you!]
[The Fire Body Lv. 1(P) - Once you coat your whole body in flames, the foreign flames will move toward you.]
Reylin had an easy way of spreading the flames, but the worst was when it came to using them. Just one touch was enough to conjure the foreign flames, but sucking too much of those would quench the area around him.
This forced Reylin to move and use the flames around him.
That move was the dance!
BOOM!
"Hahaha!"
Reylin's strongest punch containing two abilities slapped the elk from the side, throwing it away from the white-haired man. The elk landed in flames, his body losing a heavy chunk of HP, then four fireballs exploded on his wounded body!
It shrieked and died.
Reylin's eyes expanded crazily, and he said while looking at the white-haired man, "I don't care who you are. Whether you fixed your appearance here also means shit to me. My flames and I will kill the most in the second and the third wave."
"..."
"You won't wound any monster more than once. Both you and your party," Reylin declared.
With his eyes still on the man, he raised both hands and sent a wave of fireballs at the monsters.
How did he know they were here?
The minimap!
Reylin just peeked at the minimap that constantly floated in the top of his view and pinpointed their location with it alone!
The white-haired guy looked to the side, "You didn't miss... But are you sure this is enough to keep your declaration true, Reylin?"
"It is more than enough."
"Let's see how you are without your bombs and fireworks, Reylin."
Reylin's lips curved a teasing smile, then he rushed after the spear holder. That guy's spear was fast, and calling it lighting wouldn't be an exaggeration!
His thrust, cut, and slash techniques were polished through real life, and his current speed was molded by fantasy skills.
That man could wield them, his talent high.
"Hahahaha!"
Even though the white-haired guy was that talented, Reylin's equipment was one hella blessing. His stats were so abundant that even a fool would be able to keep up with the white-haired man! However, Reylin's talent also increased the gap!
He smoothly followed the spear, both with his eyes and flames, and he hadn't missed any monsters so far! Worse, Reylin was really dancing, and his flames didn't come just from behind.
He sometimes appeared on the front, his wide and crazy smile sprinkling on the wound caused by his laughter.
He often let out flames from the sides, causing terror in the white-haired man's teammates.
They heard Reylin's declaration.
They didn't believe it at first, but after just a few minutes, they were forced to give up and look at his dance, amazed.
The white-haired man's face flashed with disbelief, then understanding transpired on his face, "You are Crown, no less. However! If you recognized me, you would have known that I won't stop until I overcome the impossible, even if it's just a little!
Following those words, the man's spear shivered, and it let out a faint glow. It remained no different after that glow dispersed, but the player's aura had significantly changed.
His next move surprised Reylin, as his spear just slashed once, and yet the man's spear left the three slashes!
"That was a skill from the game," He said while looking at the pyromaniac coated in flames, "I will defy you with my own skill now."
"Ah, I see... It's you, Vis." Reylin shrugged, but his fireballs kept coming out, "It's hard to recognize you with white hair. It's just a color, and yet you look much calmer, I suppose. Nothing can change your family's nature, however."
Vis nodded, "We won't just sit down and accept the reality."
Having said that, Vis rushed at the monsters.
He didn't fight with his life on the line.
He dropped his life!
"You crazy bastard! Hahaha!" Reylin roared.
Vis didn't care about the penalty!
He didn't care about anything other than wounding the monster more than once with his raw abilities! He recklessly threw himself at the monsters, his mind clear with just that killing intent blooming within him!
And thus, he achieved that feat, denying Reylin's declaration!
Vis' teammates rushed to his side, seeing him falling due to stamina exhaustion! They felt like they wouldn't be able to make it, but Reylin flicked his fingers and conjured one fireball.
One chance.
That fireball landed on the monster, stopping it for a few seconds.
Vis' teammates caught up, and they used their bodies to protect their young master!
"For the family that was always left behind by us, I kinda like that undeterred spirit." Reylin said, then added, "You are much better than Braun, haha."
Vis was also the fourth son, and his family had always been one step behind the Crown Family. Their fathers often bickered and fought against each other in their political and private lives.
Their sons were the same except for the fourths.
Reylin was crazy.
Vis wasn't interested in the Crown's Fourth and trod on his path.
However, they were often compared and attended the same school.
At last, Reylin and Vis utterly forgot about themselves, and they even rarely saw each other in their high school...
Today, Vis came to this meeting lured by his own curiosity.
"Braun? Ah... He often talks about you behind your back," Vis stood up with the potion in his mouth, "I heard he's focused on the game., though. He will even make a guild."
"Haha. I guess blowing up his guild house is inevitable."
Both Vis and Reylin snickered, then the white-haired man turned around, "Today, you were better. Both the skills and equipment-wise... After this wave, let's meet again in the future."
"I might question you a little about this game once school starts," Reylin shrugged and turned around as well.
However, Vis abruptly groaned, and he dropped onto the ground for the second time.
As Reylin spun around, he noticed the woman with blood hair and scarlet eyes looking at him while standing next to Vis with her hand red.
Vis had a hole in his chest, and he nearly died!
"Bloody woman. Do you have a thing for me as well?" Reylin asked while wearing a smile.
That bloody woman was the last unique class wielder, and her eyes looking at him answered Reylin's inquiry!
She tilted her head, "Your friend gave me A Ranked Blood. He's worth that much, and I appreciate him." Her eyes shifted to Vis, who glared at her from below.
After her eyes retracted to Reylin, she asked, "How unique is your blood? Want to find out?"
"I don't need a third party to assess my blood," Reylin said, "But you have really sullied my good mood. I will blow up your face exactly after the second wave."
"Blow up my face? I have never heard such words in my whole life. That's a pretty weak saying."
"Haha," Vis laughed.
"Sucks that I haven't had a chance to create some masterpiece in this world. My flames should suffice, however. Now then. If those little words weren't enough to scare the cheap bloody woman, the act will do." Reylin waved his hand and conjured a few more fireballs, "You are on your own, Vis."
He planned to overcome the whole second wave!
Reylin couldn't play with this bloody woman yet, and so he left Vis together with his teammates.
Of course, there were two possible scenarios; the woman chasing him or trying to use Vis.
Reylin said the former words to throw the latter off.
It seemed like it worked as the bloody woman chased after Reylin. Her scarlet eyes shone brightly, and her speed increased with each second!
She also didn't mind throwing herself into the flames, to which Reylin could only smile widely, "Welcome to my dance floor."
