Chapter 334: Chapter 334 The Jade Beauty Decides to Forego the Sword for a Harder Weapon
Meanwhile, Lin Feng returned home and followed his usual routine as if nothing had changed.
He prepared early for his gaming session, setting everything in place long before nightfall.
To an outside observer, it seemed like just another ordinary evening.
When night finally descended, Li Ruoxi arrived at her usual time, punctual as always.
However, something immediately felt different.
The atmosphere was quieter than usual, and the other women who typically lingered nearby were nowhere to be seen.
That was because, earlier, Lin Feng had already instructed them to stay outside his chambers for the meantime.
Naturally, he did not want Li Zhiyan to discover that it was Li Ruoxi who accompanied him during these weekend gaming sessions.
But beyond that, there was a deeper reason.
Tonight, he would change the nature of his relationship with Li Ruoxi.
“It’s good that you’ve come, Ruoxi,” Lin Feng said, his tone steady and unreadable.
He gestured toward the seat across from him. “Come, sit down. I need to tell you something.”
Li Ruoxi paused for a brief moment, slightly surprised by his seriousness, but she quickly composed herself and sat down gracefully.
At the same time, Lin Feng activated his connection to Earth, the familiar glow flickering to life before them.
Neither of them spoke further about it. As usual, they began playing.
The game progressed like any other night. Their coordination was smooth, their movements in sync, as if they had done this countless times before.
There was a brief silence. Then, without any buildup, he spoke.
“This will be the last night I require your services, Ruoxi,” Lin Feng said calmly. “After tonight, consider your duty to me fulfilled.”
The words fell like a sudden thunderclap.
Li Ruoxi’s mind went blank for a split second, as if she had misheard him.
Her eyes widened ever so slightly, and the composure she had carefully maintained began to crack.
Of all the possibilities she had imagined, this was not one of them.
“Last… night?” she repeated softly, her voice carrying a trace of disbelief.
She had never expected such a turn of events especially not tonight.
In fact, she had come prepared.
Tonight was supposed to be the night she would take a step forward, to close the distance between them, to secure her place by his side in order to fulfill the quest that her master had asked of her.
And yet, before she could even act, Lin Feng had already drawn the line.
Her fingers tightened slightly on her lap, betraying the storm of emotions within her.
Confusion, frustration, and an inexplicable sense of loss surged through her chest all at once.
“Why?” she asked after a moment, her voice steadier than she felt. “Did I… do something wrong?”
Lin Feng shook his head faintly, his expression as calm as ever.
“You did nothing wrong,” he replied. “You’ve fulfilled your role perfectly. That’s precisely why there’s no need for you to continue.”
His tone was almost indifferent, as if he were merely stating a simple fact.
But to Li Ruoxi, those words felt heavier than anything else.
Perfect… yet no longer needed.
The irony of it stung more than she expected.
“No… this can’t be. I need to do something, or my master will most definitely punish me…” Li Ruoxi thought, her usually composed heart growing restless.
There was a trace of urgency flickered in her eyes.
If she failed, the consequences would not be something she could simply brush aside.
Gently biting her lower lip, she made up her mind. Li Ruoxi went all in.
“Master Lin Feng… do you like beautiful women?” she asked, her voice soft, almost honeyed, carrying a warmth that felt completely out of place for someone known for her icy demeanor.
The contrast was striking.
Lin Feng’s fingers paused for a fraction of a second over the controls before continuing as if nothing had happened.
Outwardly, he remained relaxed, but inwardly, alarms had already begun ringing.
He slowly narrowed his eyes, his thoughts sharpening.
Without turning his head, a faint ripple of divine sense spread outward, powerful and undetectable, brushing over Li Ruoxi like a silent breeze.
“Oh… my…” he muttered inwardly, the realization dawning on him almost instantly.
His expression, however, remained unreadable… calm, indifferent, as though he hadn’t noticed anything at all.
“So that’s how it is…”
The pieces fell into place with frightening clarity.
The Li matriarch had made her move and not a timid one either.
Lin Feng couldn’t help but feel a hint of admiration.
“I should’ve expected this from old foxes like her… bold, decisive, and utterly shameless when needed,” he thought, a faint smirk threatening to form before he suppressed it.
Still, admiration didn’t mean compliance. His mind quickly shifted to the consequences.
Taking Li Ruoxi into his harem? Impossible.
Not because he lacked interest… on the contrary, Li Ruoxi was undeniably beautiful, her cold elegance now tinged with a rare softness that made her even more alluring but because of the complications it would bring.
The biggest problem was Li Zhiyan.
If he crossed that line with Li Ruoxi now, it would immediately expose the truth he had been carefully concealing… that he had not touched Li Zhiyan at all.
That delicate balance would shatter in an instant, and the ripple effects would be troublesome, to say the least.
“No… that won’t do.” His thoughts settled. There was only one viable path forward. Resist her.
Not outright reject her as that would be too suspicious but he would instead carefully deflect, maintain control, and steer things back into safer territory.
“I do like beautiful women, Ruoxi. Why do you ask?” Lin Feng replied casually, his tone light, almost teasing, as if her question amused him more than anything else.
He didn’t even look at her, keeping his attention firmly on the game screen, as though she hadn’t just asked something loaded with meaning.
It was a smart move. If he gave her too much attention now, it would only encourage her further.
Tap!
Unfortunately for Lin Feng, he had underestimated just how determined Li Ruoxi was to complete the task her master had assigned her.
He didn’t even need to turn his head to understand what was happening.
One piece of clothing after another slipped free, falling gently to the floor around him.
Lin Feng’s expression remained unchanged, but inwardly, he felt something else going hard on his body.
“Why do women always have to tempt me like this all of the time?!” Lin Feng roared inwardly.
