Crack. Crack. Crack.

The cocoon of Nightmare Mist burst into pieces, and a young boy stood naked as the mist was absorbed into his body.

Looking around, the first thing he did was summon the Nightmare Mist to cover his body, and as he did, he tried to change its properties.

Previously, something like this was unthinkable but now?

In the information he had received from [Dream], there were many techniques to create spiritual clothes using Qi. All he did was mimic them using his Nightmare Mist.

The result wasn’t perfect. He managed to create a blackish-purple robe with Nightmare Mist drifting from its edges from time to time.

Anyone weak who accidentally touched it would be toast, Night thought.

Of course, he did this not because he wanted to try a new technique. It was simply a necessary form of protection.

Night sighed. I am alone again. If there was someone stronger to protect him, he could wear normal clothes and let his guard down, but not anymore.

He had to find ways to ensure his own survival.

The next thing he did was look at Alze-beus’s corpse.

His face twisted, and he almost spit on it, but he stopped himself.

Night took a deep breath and counted, One sheep, two sheep, there sheep...

Then his shadow extended and covered the severed head and the headless body.

Whoosh.

The body appeared in the Soul Space right next to his core plant.

Immediately, [Dream] appeared alongside System Girl.

Though System Girl looked gloomy with tears and snot covering her face, she looked like she was about to fight the Devil’s corpse.

Night sighed again. He didn’t want to leave System Girl like this.

"I’ll think of something for her," he muttered. Without closing his eyes, he projected his awareness into his Soul Space, but on the outside, he didn’t stand idly by.

His bare feet moved as he started running. And the direction he ran?

Toward the Dream City, of course.

Since Blade was evolving as well, he currently had no means to teleport.

Right now, he felt going back to Nightmare Castle was his best bet. Inside the city, he would have much more security.

...

From afar, Diana stood and watched Night leave.

Of course, she wanted to rip Night apart so that she could get Blade, and she was also interested in him after watching the battle unfold, but...

Diana looked in confusion at the brown-skinned, handsome Indian man beside her. "Lord, why are we letting him go? He is clearly related to the Dead God in the Nightmare Domain Death Zone."

[Zethe-thoth] was the only reason she couldn’t make a move; otherwise, the sequence of events would have played out very differently.

[Zethe-thoth] looked at her and simply said, "He is a Player now. If we kill him, he will not truly die. He will just respawn in that accursed place."

Diana looked at him incredulously. "What?" She was not aware of the ’Tower of Games,’ so she didn’t understand what he meant by ’Player’ and ’respawn.’

[Zethe-thoth] looked at her, his eyes deep. "Don’t bother with him. And if he is related to the Dead God, then I have no wish to go there... but that is only if he is related. Otherwise, it’s fair game..."

If they were related, then the Dead God was also likely a Player. And if that was the case, [Zethe-thoth] would ignore it. He was not willing to walk directly into a tiger’s mouth.

He had long transcended his Void species’ tendencies. While most of the time he thought using his stomach, he was not a slave to it.

He knew when to let go, even if every fiber of his being said otherwise.

This was what made a being like him so terrifying. It was not just his raw strength, but his iron will. And yet, even a being like him was merely a rogue Player, which made one wonder just what a true Player who thrived in the ’Tower of Games’ was actually like.

Diana opened and closed her mouth several times. She was unwilling to let them go, especially Sara, but in the end, all she said was, "Okay."

[Zethe-thoth] nodded at her, his respect for his Chosen growing.

Knowing when to quit was a skill many didn’t have, but it was what had kept him thriving at the top while the cocky ones suffered at the bottom of the tower after someone stronger crushed them.

He was glad his Chosen had that quality as well; hence the respect.

...

Night’s awareness appeared in his Soul Space. He wanted to try something he hadn’t thought of before.

Under the astonished faces of [Dream] and System Girl, the plant, which had been stationary until now moved.

Since the throne was currently being used by Vivianne, the plant was rooted into the ground.

Black roots grew out of the soil, wrapped around Alze-beus’s corpse and severed head, and dragged the Devil underground.

Night understood now that while the plant looked weak, it was anything but that. The plant was Divine Grade, and while he couldn’t fully access it yet, it contained Divine Source as well.

The roots penetrated Alze-beus’s body as easily as if it were soft soil, burying it deep underground.

Immediately, there were changes. Small buds of various colors appeared on the plant and rapidly bloomed.

In seconds, the plant was filled with hundreds of different colored leaves.

"It seems Alze-beus had a lot of Aspects," Night thought out loud.

System Girl was quiet, but [Dream] looked incredibly happy. "I see! So the plant can extract much more than the Nightmare Mist. Doesn’t this mean you will soon have all kinds of Aspects?"

"I hope so," Night replied. "I feel like my instincts are guiding me. It was what made me eat those skills..." As Night said that, he looked apologetically at System Girl.

System Girl looked down as if she didn’t hear anything, but her trembling shoulders and the small wet droplets hitting the ground said otherwise.

She is really insecure about not being useful, Night realized.

Maybe it’s not just her... maybe my friends feel the exact same way...

I need to find a way to keep them busy. It’s not good being depressed all the time.

Night used his newly enhanced mind to find solutions.

Eating the [Hive Mind] skill had been a blessing. He felt like he could do much more than what the skill originally claimed after he digested it.

Ideas appeared and disappeared every second. He felt like he was a lightbulb that didn’t just light up once in a while, but was lit brightly all the time.

Making a sudden decision, he immediately appeared right in front of System Girl, who was not prepared for the sudden closeness, and pulled her into a hug.

In his hurry, he ended up hugging her very tightly.

System Girl struggled in his arms for a moment, but in the end, she gave up and turned on the waterworks when she knew there was no escape.

Sniff. Sniff. Sniff.

"Now what will I do...?" System Girl wailed.

Sniff. Sniff.

"Unlike the others, I don’t even have a physical body..."

Sniff. Sniff.

"I cannot fight..."

Sniff. Sniff.

"Managing the System was my only joy..."

Sniff. Sniff.

"I hate you... I hate the stupid System... I hate [Dream] for creating me like this..."

Sniff. Sniff.

[Dream], standing off to the side, twitched when she got caught stray bullets.

"It’s better to just die... sniff, sniff, sniff..."

Night didn’t know what to say. He just held her tightly and let her cry for a little while longer. When he felt like it was enough, he finally spoke. "I have something for you to do."

System Girl stopped crying almost as if a switch had been flipped. She looked up at him, her face covered in tears, snot, and saliva.

She looked at him with incredibly hopeful eyes. "Wha... wha... what is it?"

Night had many ways to give her something to work with. Most of them were just stupid, menial things, but there was one thing he could let her do, and it was incredibly important.

Night said honestly, "I want you to become my Inner World’s World Will."

System Girl looked stunned for a moment, as if processing the information. Then, she immediately gave him a beaming smile, as if all her previous bawling had been a complete illusion. "You mean it?"

Even [Dream] looked at him, stunned, and asked, "You know what you are doing, right?"

Night nodded seriously. He made sure there was not a single trace of hesitation in his eyes.

"You should know," [Dream] warned, "this Inner World will birth a World Will on its own soon. Letting it happen naturally is the best way for it to grow safer, because you will have full control over it. That’s unlike System Girl, who can do whatever she pleases if she wanted to..."

Then her face became much darker. "...unless you ask her to sign a slave contract."

System Girl looked at him. Taking a deep breath, she spoke with resolve, without a shred of hesitation. "I am willing to sign a slave contract."

[Dream] and Night both looked at her, completely stunned. Both of them thought the same thing: Don’t you have any self-worth?

Night shook his head firmly. "There is no need for any unpleasant contracts."

Even though System Girl looked willing, her body relaxed visibly when she heard there would be no contract.

[Dream] gave a bright, approving smile from the side as well.
