I Just Started College, How Could I Become a Part-Time Papa?!
Chapter 62: The Clueless Little Man
Chapter 62: Chapter 62: The Clueless Little Man
Around 4 PM, the two of them left the driving school.
After dropping Song Jianye off at school, Chen Yuan went to Jiang Wanyi’s place.
She was wearing a slip dress nightgown. It was supposed to be a loose-fitting style, but on her, it became form-fitting, accentuating the curve of her hips nicely.
"You look a little pale. Are you not feeling well?" Chen Yuan asked, walking over.
Jiang Wanyi clutched her lower abdomen. "It hurts a little. I don’t know what’s wrong."
"It’s not your period, is it?"
"It shouldn’t be. That’s not for a few more days, and it usually doesn’t hurt this much."
"Then don’t just put up with it. Let’s go to the hospital and get it checked out."
"But the baby’s here, and it’s not convenient to take her. This is an old problem, it happens occasionally," Jiang Wanyi said, gritting her teeth.
Chen Yuan had never encountered a situation like this, so he couldn’t immediately tell what was going on.
"We should still go to the hospital."
"But the baby’s here. It’s inconvenient to take her."
"I’ll just carry her. You go get changed. I’ll get Mili dressed."
"Okay, I’ll listen to you."
Jiang Wanyi went back to the bedroom and changed into some comfortable clothes. Little Mili’s clothes were easy to put on; a diaper and then whatever else was fine.
Since she wasn’t feeling well, Jiang Wanyi couldn’t drive. The two of them took a taxi.
"My place is pretty close to the TCM hospital. Let’s go there first."
Chen Yuan nodded and found the official account for the University of Traditional Chinese Medicine on his phone.
"Here, use my phone. I’ve registered for an appointment there before."
Jiang Wanyi handed him her phone. Her face was deathly pale, and she kept clutching her lower abdomen, resting her head gently on Chen Yuan’s shoulder.
Chen Yuan used Jiang Wanyi’s phone to book an appointment for the evening clinic.
The University of Traditional Chinese Medicine was also within University City, and its affiliated hospital was right next door. A taxi ride took just over ten minutes.
When they arrived at the hospital, Chen Yuan helped Jiang Wanyi to a seat.
There weren’t many people at the evening clinic, so their turn came after only a few minutes’ wait.
Following the principle that age equals experience, they saw an old doctor. He had a white beard and looked very impressive.
"Tell me what’s going on."
"My stomach hurts, and my period isn’t for another few days," Jiang Wanyi explained.
"First, go get a color Doppler ultrasound."
He hadn’t even examined her, but he’d already written out a referral for a test.
After being told where to go for the test, Chen Yuan took Jiang Wanyi to get the ultrasound.
A few minutes later, the test results came out. They showed nothing was wrong, which put Chen Yuan at ease.
Back in the consultation room, the old TCM doctor glanced at the report and then felt Jiang Wanyi’s wrist.
"It’s just qi stagnation and blood stasis. Nothing serious."
"But it hurts a lot right now. What should we do?" Chen Yuan asked.
"Take some ibuprofen. You can just buy it at a pharmacy."
Hearing this, Chen Yuan was completely relieved. At least there was no danger.
"After giving birth, you probably haven’t had any marital relations, have you? On top of that, taking care of a child and not getting enough rest also has an impact."
The old TCM doctor looked at Chen Yuan. "You don’t have any problems, do you?"
"Huh?"
Chen Yuan was a little slow to react. An 18-year-old greenhorn like him had never been in a situation like this.
"Don’t be embarrassed. There’s no shame in being sick. You look quite young. It’s best to treat illnesses early. A bit of Chinese medicine can still set you right."
Even though her stomach hurt badly, Jiang Wanyi wanted to laugh.
’All his experience comes from theory; he probably has no practical experience in this area at all.’
"Are you impotent, or is it a stamina problem? I can take a look for you while you’re here."
"Doctor, you’ve misunderstood. My engine runs just fine."
"Oh? If it runs so fine, how come you two haven’t had any marital relations?"
The old TCM doctor said sagely:
"Let me tell you, the frequency of marital relations shouldn’t be too high, but you can’t have none at all, or problems will arise. Just like your wife. She’s already had a child, so normally it wouldn’t be this severe."
The old TCM doctor typed on the computer with a single finger and printed out a slip.
"Go home and drink more hot water. If you can’t bear the pain, take some painkillers. There’s no need for any of that other nonsense medicine. Just resuming your marital relations will fix it."
’So I’m the one who’s supposed to cure her?’
"Understood..."
After leaving the consultation room, Jiang Wanyi’s condition hadn’t improved much, but they were relieved to know there were no other issues.
The two of them headed back the way they came. After getting out of the taxi, they bought painkillers at the pharmacy by the entrance to her residential complex.
After getting home and taking the medicine, Jiang Wanyi lay down on the sofa.
There was milk stored in the fridge. Chen Yuan fed little Mili, burped her, and then placed her in her playpen.
Lying on the sofa and watching Chen Yuan bustle about, Jiang Wanyi was filled with emotion.
’Ever since he appeared in my life, it feels like he’s taken the lead.’
’I was hesitating about whether to go to the hospital, but without a second thought, he insisted on taking me.’
’Getting the baby dressed, making the appointment, seeing the doctor, coming home, buying medicine...’
’He arranged this whole series of events in such an orderly manner, and he was so incredibly calm. I didn’t have to do anything; I just followed his lead the entire time.’
’If he were really my husband, it would actually be pretty nice...’
’Huh?’
’Where did a thought like that even come from?’
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK—
The sound of knocking came from the door. Chen Yuan went to open it.
The electric heating pad he bought on Meituan had arrived. He took it to the dining table and plugged it in.
"How are you feeling now?"
"Much better after the painkillers. I was just worried it might be some other problem. I was a little uneasy."
"The water I boiled for you is to regulate your qi and blood. Just drink it like regular water from now on."
A gentle smile appeared on Jiang Wanyi’s face.
"Now the two of us, mother and daughter, are both in your care."
"I’m not going next time something like this happens. My reputation is in tatters."
"Hahaha..."
Jiang Wanyi laughed so hard her body shook, and her stomach didn’t seem to hurt as much anymore.
"I didn’t expect him to say that either."
"That Old Deng, he went a little too far. Why didn’t he say it was your problem?"
"It just shows you picked a good, experienced doctor."
"What does that have to do with anything?"
Looking at Chen Yuan, Jiang Wanyi laughed to herself. ’Big sister is going to educate you on this topic today.’
"Usually, after their wives give birth, men lose interest. There are many such cases. For women, it’s the opposite. Before giving birth, they might not feel much, it’s almost like clocking in at work. But after giving birth, things change."
"Huh?"
’What kind of logic is that?’
Chen Yuan didn’t get it.
"The process of childbirth isn’t just going to the hospital and having the baby. It’s a very difficult and sometimes graphic process. Some men, after seeing those things, develop a psychological block and lose interest in that aspect of the relationship."
"And there’s postpartum depression too, right?"
"Yes, I had it too. It lasted for several months. I had to take a lot of medication before I slowly got better."
’Tongzi said my future wife would suffer from postpartum depression, which would worsen until it became a fatal illness, and she would eventually pass away. This illness really can’t be underestimated.’
"So what he said does make some sense."
"But my reputation as Mr. Wei Meng has been violated. I need to find a lawyer and sue him."
Jiang Wanyi laughed. An inexperienced virgin who was all talk, calling himself Mr. Wei Meng.
’Although, he does seem to be well-endowed...’
