I Just Started College, How Could I Become a Part-Time Papa?!
Chapter 48: Fang Youning’s Older Sister
Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Fang Youning’s Older Sister
Fang Youning froze.
"I—I didn’t mean it like that. What do we do now?"
Chen Yuan scratched his head. ’Did she put all her skill points into art?’
’What else can we do? Change his diaper, obviously.’
"There are two options right now. One is to find your sister and have her change him."
"She’s getting her nails done, so that’s probably not convenient. What’s the second option?" Fang Youning asked expectantly.
"You change him."
"Me? I don’t know how."
"I’ll do it."
Chen Yuan lifted the baby out of the stroller and looked at the pet cafe diagonally across from them.
"Excuse me, sir. Could we use your place for a moment?"
Seeing Chen Yuan walk in with a baby, the owner put out his cigarette and recognized him.
This wasn’t Rongcheng. Men don’t usually leave a strong impression on other men, but the owner remembered Chen Yuan because he had brought a beautiful girl with him last time.
"The restroom is right behind me. Just go straight and turn right."
"We don’t need the restroom, just a spot to change a diaper."
"Sure."
As Chen Yuan came in with the baby, Fang Youning followed nervously, her gaze immediately drawn to the little animals in the shop.
"Hey, hey, hey, can you focus? Now’s not the time to look at animals."
"Oh, oh..."
Fang Youning’s face flushed a little, and she followed him, embarrassed.
Chen Yuan found an empty table, placed the baby on a chair, and tore off the diaper. It was surprisingly heavy.
"Ask the owner for a plastic bag. We can’t just throw this thing in his trash can. We have to take it with us."
"Oh, okay."
Fang Youning obediently went to find the owner.
"What can I do for you, miss?"
"I... I..."
Fang Youning wanted to ask for a plastic bag, but the young singer found it hard to ask for something for free.
"I’d like to buy two coffees to go."
"Take a look and see what flavor you’d like."
"Two caramel lattes, with light ice."
"You got it."
"Could... could I have a bag?"
"Just a moment."
The owner turned and got a paper takeout bag, handing it to Fang Youning.
While his little nephew sat on the chair, Chen Yuan, bored, gave it a few flicks.
’Oh, the humanity! Who on earth is flicking such a little boy?!’
’Hehe, that would be me.’
Fang Youning returned to Chen Yuan’s side with the bag and saw him flicking her little nephew.
*Boing!* You have to be eighteen to do that yourself, little buddy~~~
"W-what are you doing...?"
"Giving it a couple of flicks."
’This little pocket-sized version is actually pretty fun to flick.’
Fang Youning probably couldn’t understand his behavior, but 99% of all guys have had it flicked by an unreliable adult in the family when they were kids.
"C-can you even flick that...?"
"Why not? It’s not like it’s attached with scotch tape. Wanna try?"
"Huh?" Fang Youning stared at Chen Yuan in shock.
"Don’t look at me. You can’t flick mine."
Fang Youning’s face instantly turned beet red.
See? She knew exactly what he was talking about.
"Here."
Fang Youning handed over the paper bag, and Chen Yuan tossed the diaper inside.
He tore open the package, took out a new diaper, and skillfully put it on the baby.
"All done."
"Thank you. I bought coffee; it’ll be ready in a minute."
"Mm."
Since she’d already bought it, there was no need to be overly polite.
[You have helped a human cub change its diaper. Reward: 1600 yuan cash]
’There was a quest related to the baby?’
’But why was this different from before? There was no prompt, just a completion notice.’
’Could it be that because it was too simple, the only reward was cash, with no skill?’
’That’s possible.’
After putting the baby back in the stroller, the two returned to the counter where the owner was making coffee.
Fang Youning took her little nephew to see the animals while Chen Yuan stood at the bar, waiting for the coffee.
"Dude, you’re pretty impressive. It’s only been a few days, and you’ve already switched to a new one."
"Now that you mention it, I guess I am pretty damn awesome."
"How about this? From now on, you bring girls here, and I’ll give you a kickback."
"Forget it. It’s not like I’m running a doll factory assembly line. How many people could I possibly bring you? You’re better off thinking of other ideas."
"Didn’t you suggest getting a weasel last time? I’m actually looking into it. I’m thinking of launching a ’Good Luck’ package for exam week."
’Holy crap.’
"I was just spouting nonsense last time. You actually believed me? I wouldn’t dare come here to pray."
"Aren’t you a Science and Technology student? We science majors are all materialists. What’s there to be afraid of?"
"What, are you saying the lives of us students from no-name schools don’t matter?"
Soon, the coffee was ready, and Chen Yuan took his cup.
"You can keep looking around. I’m heading out."
"Thanks again."
"No problem."
Chen Yuan left. Fang Youning watched his retreating back, a little curious. ’Chen Yuan actually knows how to change diapers.’
After finishing her coffee, Fang Youning felt it would be rude to linger any longer.
She felt like she was taking advantage of the owner, so she pushed her little nephew in his stroller and left.
After wandering around the underground mall for a bit, she got a call from her sister, and they agreed to meet at the entrance of a KFC.
Fang Youning’s older sister was named Fang Youqing. She had a classic "cool older sister" face, with long, gently curved eyebrows that resembled distant, misty mountains, giving her a unique air that was both commanding and gentle.
"Look at my new nails. Aren’t they pretty?"
Fang Youqing held out her hand, showing off her manicure to Fang Youning.
"That color is pretty. I’ll get mine done next week too."
Fang Youning had a performance coming up and was worried a manicure would interfere with her piano playing, so she hadn’t gotten one done.
"Speaking of next week, that reminds me. The Sunday after next, I have a business trip, and Aunt Liu is going back to her hometown for a wedding. You’ll have to come over and watch the baby for the day. I should be back the same day."
"You’re so busy. You’ve already got your schedule planned out two weeks in advance?"
"It’s a new product launch, so the date is set. I have to go check it out. You’ll come help me watch the baby for the day then."
"Can I really do it? I don’t even know what he eats."
"Just feed him some steamed buns and congee. I’ll try to get back as soon as I can."
"If neither of you is home, I’ll have to step up whether I can do it or not," Fang Youning said helplessly.
"That’s the spirit. You just took care of him for a little while, and you did fine, didn’t you?"
Fang Youqing bent down and felt the baby’s diaper.
"You changed him?"
"He was wet, and since I happened to have bought new diapers, I just changed him."
"Not bad at all! You’ve learned a new skill. Now you have some experience, so when you have kids of your own, you won’t be in a panic."
"I’m only 18. Having kids is probably at least ten years away," Fang Youning said shyly.
"Treasure your university life. Ten years will pass in the blink of an eye."
Fang Youqing then looked at the diapers Fang Youning had bought.
"The material feels pretty good. You’ve got a good eye for this."
"I ran into a classmate here. He knows about this stuff and helped me pick them out."
"I guess your classmate must have a younger sibling. He understands these things better than you do."
Fang Youqing pushed her son’s stroller. "Come on, let’s find a place to eat. You can pick whatever you like."
"Okay."
