Chapter 223: Chapter 121: Guys Really Are All Big Perverts

He’d been caught, but Chen Yuan wasn’t embarrassed.

This wasn’t the first time something like this had happened. Chen Yuan was used to it, and so was Jiang Wanyi.

If she were truly worried about him seeing them, she wouldn’t have brought him in.

Jiang Wanyi, however, was a little worried. ’What if he really can’t sleep now?’

"The bathroom is only so big. It’s not like I want to look, but they’re right in my line of sight. There’s nothing I can do about it."

"You and your excuses."

Jiang Wanyi didn’t make a point of stopping Chen Yuan. She just continued to diligently apply the skincare products to his face.

"You hand-wash your underwear and things, right?"

Jiang Wanyi nodded. "Ever since I went away for college, I’ve washed them by hand. Later, I saw some videos on TikTok that said machine washing is actually cleaner, but it’s been a habit for so many years. Besides, it’s just a few small items. Putting them in the washing machine feels like a waste, so I’ve just kept hand-washing them."

"It probably wasn’t much work before, but now that you have to do mine too, the workload is much bigger."

"It’s not as dramatic as you make it sound. It’s just a pair of your briefs and a pair of socks. And I occasionally scrub your shoes. How tiring can that be?"

Chen Yuan thought to himself, ’I’ll have to be more careful from now on. I should probably cut back on watching those risqué videos.’

’If my little brother decides to stand up and make a statement, he might leave a mark, and Jiang Wanyi would definitely see it when she washes my clothes.’

"The pairs I bought for you this time are all modal. They should be pretty comfortable, right?"

"They’re definitely comfortable. Way better than the ones my mom buys me. With those, I feel like I’m about to start a fire if I walk too fast."

"AHAHAHA..."

Jiang Wanyi was in stitches. "You’re being ridiculous. You’re the only treasured son in the family. How could she possibly buy you anything low-quality?"

After finishing with the moisturizer, Jiang Wanyi took out the hair dryer and handed it to Chen Yuan.

"Your time to shine, baby’s daddy."

"No problem."

Chen Yuan sat on the sofa, while Jiang Wanyi sat cross-legged on the floor in front of him.

Having done this once before, the process was no longer difficult.

"Have any girls at school been pursuing you?" Jiang Wanyi asked.

"Well, if you’re going to bring that up, I’m not sleepy anymore. There are tons of them, you could say it’s..."

"Stop messing around, I’m being serious," Jiang Wanyi chided. "You’re in college now, so it’s normal to have a girlfriend."

"And?"

"What do you mean, ’and’?"

"Why bring this up all of a sudden?"

"I was just asking, that’s all."

Chen Yuan thought for a moment. ’Something seems off here.’

"It sounds like you’re encouraging me to do something... less than wholesome."

Out of habit, she slapped his foot and then pinched his calf.

"I just said you should get a girlfriend. I didn’t say anything about doing other stuff. How is that unwholesome?"

"And what do you do with a girlfriend?"

"Oh, lots of things," Jiang Wanyi said, rattling them off with ease.

"You can go out to eat, see movies, go shopping, things like that. Aren’t those all things people do?"

"But we can do all that together. Why do I need a girlfriend for it?"

Jiang Wanyi was left speechless.

It seemed they had already done all of those things together.

"Nothing to say now, huh?"

"You’re annoying."

"You just call me annoying when you can’t win the argument," Chen Yuan said.

"Besides those things, there’s kissing and holding hands. And we’ve done that, too."

"You’re impossible! Stop talking about it!"

What Jiang Wanyi was really trying to get at wasn’t any of the things Chen Yuan had mentioned. They both knew perfectly well what she was really thinking.

But some things just couldn’t be said so openly.

"You’re being so unreasonable. You’re the one who started this topic, and now you’re telling me to stop talking."

Chen Yuan leisurely dried her hair. Now that Mili was feeling better, he had become more talkative again.

"You can do all the things a girlfriend can, and you can even do things a girlfriend can’t. So what do I need a girlfriend for?"

"Nonsense. The things we can do are the same. How could I possibly do more?"

"Can a girlfriend cook for me? Can she do my laundry?"

"Hmph..."

At this, Jiang Wanyi’s expression suddenly grew smug.

"You’ve got a point there. Even if they could, they probably wouldn’t do it as well as I do."

"See? So what’s the point of getting one of those?"

Lifting Wanyi’s hair and leisurely drying it, Chen Yuan quite enjoyed the process.

"Your job right now is to take good care of Mili, and my job is to figure out how to make money. Everything else is secondary. We need to pursue the happiness that wealth can bring us, so for now, we can’t think about anything else."

For a moment, Jiang Wanyi sat perfectly still, thinking about Chen Yuan’s words.

’Isn’t this exactly the lifestyle of a family of three?’

’The man works to provide for the family, while the woman takes care of the child and maintains the home.’

The corners of her mouth lifted slightly, revealing a gentle, sweet smile.

’How had their relationship become like this, one step at a time?’

"I think that’s good enough," Jiang Wanyi said.

"Don’t be hasty. It needs a little more."

She reflexively touched her hair. It was mostly dry already, with just the ends feeling a little damp. That was fine, though. It wouldn’t keep her from sleeping.

Gradually, Jiang Wanyi’s heart settled, and her thoughts began to drift like willow catkins floating through the air.

In this city built of steel and concrete, the warm light from the living room shone upon them, enveloping them.

’What Chen Yuan had said didn’t seem wrong, either.’

’Without realizing it, they had indeed done many things together, things that it seemed only couples or intimate partners should do.’

’In their day-to-day life, she had, without realizing it, truly begun to see him as her other half.’

’When the baby got sick, her first instinct wasn’t to call her parents, but to call him.’
