I Just Started College, How Could I Become a Part-Time Papa?!
Chapter 164 - 96: Jiang Wanyi’s Reward
Chapter 164: Chapter 96: Jiang Wanyi’s Reward
Jiang Wanyi pushed the door open and walked in, holding a sesame crisp in her hand. She had a face mask on and carried the pleasant scent of shower gel.
"This is really good. Have a bite."
"I’m good. I’ll buy you some more next time."
"This is more than enough..."
Jiang Wanyi patted her stomach. "Look how fat I’m getting, and I have a photo shoot this weekend. Come on, try it."
Chen Yuan took a bite. He had bought these before; he’d gotten them for Jiang Wanyi precisely because they were so delicious.
"Here, give me the baby. You go rest."
"Okay."
They switched places. Chen Yuan went to lie down in the living room, killing time by scrolling through videos on his phone.
Besides Song Jianye’s daily dad jokes, there was a message from Jiang Shuyi. The student council had its regular meeting on Wednesday night, and she was asking him to attend as well.
They chatted for a bit, after which Chen Yuan did a quick search on his phone and found a few suitable locations for the weekend photo shoot.
Some time later, Jiang Wanyi came out of the room. She picked up the photos Chen Yuan had developed and sat cross-legged next to the TV stand.
After careful consideration, she placed the photo of the three of them on the stand.
On either side, she placed a photo of herself with the baby and one of Chen Yuan with the baby.
The large photo flanked by the two smaller ones created a harmonious display.
The last one, a photo of her and Chen Yuan, she took to her bedroom. With that, everything was perfectly arranged.
"Be careful the housekeeper doesn’t see them when she comes over," Chen Yuan said.
"I’ll just leave them out for a few days," Jiang Wanyi said without turning around. She meticulously adjusted the photos’ positions. More than half an hour slipped by, and she remained completely absorbed in her task.
Chen Yuan was a bit puzzled. ’They’re just a few photos. Does it really need to take this long?’
But seeing the look on Jiang Wanyi’s face, he could tell she had no intention of stopping.
He reached down, picked up a small ball from the floor, and rolled it toward Jiang Wanyi. It bumped right against her bottom.
"What is it?" Jiang Wanyi asked, turning her head.
"You’ve been at that for over half an hour. Come take a break."
"I’m almost done. I’m just adjusting the position a little more."
She fussed with them for a while longer before finally standing up, satisfied.
"There, that’s better."
"They’re just a few photos. You could have just put them anywhere."
"No way. They have to be in the perfect spot."
Sitting on the sofa, Chen Yuan pulled in his legs. Jiang Wanyi sat beside him like a lazy cat, resting her head on one hand. Her gaze was soft as she looked at the photos on the TV stand. The elegance and beauty that time had bestowed upon her were all on display for Chen Yuan in that moment.
"By the way, what do you want for breakfast tomorrow morning?"
"Let’s just use the leftover hot pot broth to cook some noodles," Chen Yuan said.
"That’s too simple. Let me make you something else; it’s no trouble."
"But it’s delicious that way."
"I’ll add some lamb and pickled cabbage for you."
"Perfect."
...
「The next morning」
While Chen Yuan was playing with the baby, Jiang Wanyi made breakfast.
Even though it was leftover hot pot broth, reheating it seemed to make it taste even better, much like how leftover fish is often more delicious the next day.
After the meal, Chen Yuan left, but not before planting a kiss on little Mili’s cheek.
「The next two days」
The next two days passed smoothly.
The video for the pet cafe had been filmed and published. As for how well it would do, that remained to be seen.
Aside from that, his Subject Three driving practice proceeded as scheduled.
After his classes ended on Wednesday morning, he had lunch with Song Jianye and then headed to the school gate.
The two of them had a two-person VIP package, which made their scheduling very flexible.
The training area for Subject Three wasn’t at the driving school itself. The school would find a suitable, open area with little traffic for practice. For this reason, at the appointed time, Zhou Jianye came to pick them both up.
They drove for over half an hour to the city outskirts. There weren’t many people or cars around, which closely mimicked the conditions for the Subject Three test.
During the actual test, there would also be other vehicles and pedestrians. For a new driver, mental fortitude was just as critical a hurdle as driving skill. You couldn’t just freeze up because other people were around.
Following the same old routine from Subject Two, the instructor first went over the procedures, like doing a walk-around inspection of the car and using the various lights. After they had both mastered that, it was time for the hands-on practice.
"Alright, Xiaochen, you go first. Xiaosong, you watch carefully."
"Okay, okay."
Following Zhou Jianye’s instructions, Chen Yuan slowly started the car.
With his experience from Subject Two, Chen Yuan adapted quickly once he was on the road. Although he had a few minor issues, with Zhou Jianye’s reminders, there was nothing to fault besides his poor judgment of distance when parking.
"Xiaochen, you’re not bad at all! You’ve been practicing for less than an hour, all told, and you can already drive this well. In all my years, I’ve only taught a few students like you."
"It’s all because I have a great instructor."
"No, no, you’re just a quick study. You’re a natural behind the wheel."
Chen Yuan knew his improved comprehension and focus were a huge part of why he was learning so quickly. Otherwise, he never would have reached this level of skill.
"Alright, you can take a break. Let Xiaosong get some more practice in."
Song Jianye hadn’t even started practicing, but Zhou Jianye’s brow was already furrowed. Two hours later, it still hadn’t smoothed out.
"Xiaosong, where are you from?"
"Hang City."
"If you hadn’t told me, I would’ve thought you grew up in the middle of nowhere."
"What do you mean?"
"It just feels like the rules of human society don’t apply to you."
"That’s not true! I got a 98 on my Subject One test."
"See that old man up ahead?"
Song Jianye nodded. "I see him."
"It’ll cost you 300,000 if you hit and kill him."
