Chapter 127: Chapter 83: Are You Still Looking at Feet Tomorrow?
Wang Haoci looked at Jiang Shuyi and He Xiaoxi.
"Seniors, do you two have any issues with this?"
"I’m okay with it."
"I don’t have a problem with it either," Jiang Shuyi said, "but I think there’s an issue with the method itself."
"What’s the issue?"
Everyone’s attention focused back on Jiang Shuyi.
"The account only has ten thousand followers, and they’re spread out all over the country. The number of local followers in Zhonghai alone might not be that high. Filming a video like this might not be effective, and it could easily tarnish our brand."
The problem Jiang Shuyi raised was a critical one. Because of how they had grown the account, they couldn’t just start monetizing at ten thousand followers like a local account could.
"We shouldn’t have to worry about that, because our followers are quite targeted," Chen Yuan said.
"Among these ten thousand followers, not only are most of them local to Zhonghai, but they’re also from around University City. The monetization should be even more effective than a local account with ten thousand followers."
"Why do you say that?"
"Because our followers all came from Dou+ promotions. The targeting was precise, and most of them are university students."
"Dou+ promotions?"
Jiang Shuyi suddenly remembered. "It wasn’t your rich friend who paid for the promotions, was it?"
"That’s her."
Chen Yuan shrugged. "You didn’t really think I could gain ten thousand followers just by casually singing a few songs, did you?"
"But your cover of ’Butterfly’ was really good. A lot of people left comments saying so," He Xiaoxi said.
"That’s not important. What’s important is that we can definitely try to monetize now. Plus, I have a business I can recommend."
"Which one?"
"There’s a pet cafe in the underground mall. I think their drinks are pretty good and they have a unique concept, but their prices are a bit high, so they’re not that popular. I’ll go talk to them tomorrow. Wait for my update."
"Then it’s settled. If you can work something out with them, we’ll start writing the script and figuring out the shoot."
"No problem."
After the department meeting ended and they chatted for a bit longer, Chen Yuan went to find Song Jianye.
He went to the back door of the classroom and peeked inside. She was eating snacks and binging a show.
When he entered through the front door, she flipped her phone face down on the desk and, pen in hand, focused on memorizing vocabulary.
The muscle memory she developed in high school was still there.
"You’re back."
Song Jianye took out a half-empty bag of snacks. "These chips are really good. I saved half for you."
’Since she saved me some snacks, I won’t call her out on it.’
They packed up their things and left the main academic building. Chen Yuan wanted to walk Song Jianye back.
But halfway there, she changed their route and insisted on walking Chen Yuan back instead.
"It’s just a matter of order. Why are you so stubborn about it?"
"Every time you walk me back, you have to go back all by yourself. I feel like you’d be lonely, so I want to walk you back too."
"And you won’t be lonely walking back by yourself?"
"You can text me the whole time until I get back to my dorm."
"Couldn’t we do the same thing the other way around?"
"It’s not the same. Guys need emotional value, too."
Song Jianye quietly leaned in and whispered in Chen Yuan’s ear:
"Look at all the other guys—they all walk back by themselves. But you? You’re being walked back by me. Doesn’t that give you a little bit of face?"
"Whoa, Song Jianye, you’re pretty good at this."
"Of course! You took me to play in the sand today. I can’t just let you take me out for fun for nothing."
"Alright, fine. Having you walk me back today really does make me look good."
"Okay, it’s getting late. You should go back now."
"Yeah, I’m heading off."
"Oh, right, wait a second."
Song Jianye called Chen Yuan to a stop and came back to his side.
"Is there something else you wanted to say?"
"Are you still going to look at my feet tomorrow?"
"Wait... you came back just to ask about this?"
"Yeah. If you’re going to look, I’ll wash them a few extra times."
"Song Jianye, if you’re going to be like this, I’m going to have to lecture you. This is a personal hygiene issue. What does it have to do with whether I’m looking or not?"
"Okay, I get it. I’m leaving now, bye-bye."
’What a smart girl.’
This was a university campus, and Dorm 3 was only a few dozen meters from Dorm 9. There wasn’t much to worry about, so Chen Yuan went back to his room.
Meanwhile, Song Jianye jogged all the way to a Miyue Ice City shop.
"Hi, can I get one sundae with an extra cone, two Full-Cup Passion Fruits, one Fresh-Squeezed Orange, and one Peach Four Seasons Spring Tea, with ice? Thanks."
"You came just in time. Five more minutes and we would’ve been closed," the owner said with a smile.
"Heh, I timed it perfectly."
"Just a moment, I’ll make those for you."
"Okay."
Song Jianye scanned the QR code to pay. The owner was fast; he finished making her order in no time, then shut down the ordering system and prepared to close up shop.
Holding her sundae, Song Jianye started eating it happily as she walked toward her dorm.
"Yummy~~~"
