Chapter 104: Chapter 76: The Secret Photos

He checked the time on his phone—it was already past nine.

’I guess I was worn out from our trip to the zoo yesterday. On top of that, I had to put Mili to bed, so I ended up sleeping in.’

After getting dressed, he saw that the master bedroom door was open. Jiang Wanyi was inside, playing with Mili.

"Dada~~~"

Mili was the first to spot Chen Yuan and started crawling toward him. He scooped her up and pressed his cheek against hers.

’Nice.’

"You’re up late. Aren’t you going to your driving lesson today?"

"My classmate had to cancel, so I’m not going either."

"Then you can just relax at home."

Jiang Wanyi got out of bed, her nightgown hanging to about her knees. This was just a typical morning, a scene of domestic comfort you’d see even between a husband and wife.

"You watch her for a bit while I go make breakfast," Jiang Wanyi said.

"The sea cucumbers are all soaked, so we’ll eat some more today."

"Okay."

Chen Yuan carried Mili over to the playpen.

When he was around, Mili was very low-maintenance. She could play happily on her own and didn’t need much attention; he just had to make sure she didn’t get into anything dangerous.

"Don’t suck on your hand, or Mommy will spank you."

"Go ahead and spank her. We can’t let it become a habit," Jiang Wanyi called from the kitchen.

’Easy for her to say, but Mili wasn’t his child. He couldn’t possibly lay a hand on her.’

Chen Yuan just gently pulled her hand away, his expression turning a little more stern.

BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ—

His phone vibrated. It was a message from Fang Youning.

Fang Youning: "Are you busy?"

Chen Yuan: "Not busy. What’s up?"

Fang Youning: "I need help! [sobbing.jpg]"

Chen Yuan thought for a moment. ’Under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t be asking me for help.’

’So this must be an unusual situation.’

Chen Yuan remembered something Fang Youning had mentioned before: her sister was on a business trip and their nanny wasn’t around, so she had to help babysit for a day.

’This had to be it.’

Fang Youning: "Help, what do I do if the baby poops? o(╥﹏╥)o"

’What a ridiculous question. You wipe him clean, obviously. You can’t just put it in a stew for extra flavor.’

Chen Yuan: "Get over your mental block. Wipe him clean, rinse him off with the shower head, pat him dry, and put on a new diaper. Done."

Fang Youning: "Oh, okay. I’ll give it a try. Thank you."

Chen Yuan: "Don’t mention it."

After he finished texting with Fang Youning, a message from Song Jianye came in.

Song Jianye: "I’m going shopping with my aunt today. Are you still going to driving school?"

Chen Yuan: "If you’re not going, then I’m not going either."

Song Jianye: "Okay, we’ll go together on Wednesday then."

Chen Yuan: "Okay."

After a few more messages, he tossed his phone aside and put his attention back on Mili.

He played with her in the playpen, kicking a small ball around.

A little while later, breakfast was ready. They put Mili in her stroller, and the two of them sat down to eat.

As they were eating, his phone buzzed again. It was another message from Fang Youning.

Fang Youning: "I’m starting to lose control of him. What do I do?"

Fang Youning: "[meltdown.jpg]"

Chen Yuan: "What’s the situation now?"

Fang Youning: "He’s constantly running around, messing with everything in the house. He keeps trying to grab things like scissors and glass bottles, so I have to follow him everywhere."

Chen Yuan: "That’s typical behavior for kids at that age. If you can’t manage him, just take him downstairs to a more open space."

Fang Youning: "Got it. I’ll try that."

After replying, Chen Yuan went back to eating. But it wasn’t long before another message from Fang Youning arrived.

Fang Youning: "Are you busy today?"

Chen Yuan: "You want me to come help, don’t you."

Fang Youning: "No, no, no! I was just asking."

Chen Yuan didn’t reply right away. He was thinking about something else.

’If I interact more with her little nephew, I might get a new passive mission.’

Chen Yuan: "If you want me to come over, just send the address."

’He wasn’t a pushover, and there was no reason to be overly eager to help. It was up to her to send the address.’

"So many messages this early in the morning. Did you get a girlfriend?" Jiang Wanyi asked with a smile.
