Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Vermilion Dragon Transformation

Krono and Nova jumped onto Garth’s massive, mossy back. The giant dragon let out an excited, booming roar.

"Roarrrr! Off we go, master!" Garth cheered happily.

Krono sat calmly near the front of the dragon’s broad neck, watching the rapidly moving landscapes as the sixty meter beast bulldozed his way through the dense pine forest. Nova sat just behind him, gripping his dark coat tightly.

Her sparkling silver eyes watched only him. It was as if she had become completely infatuated with his overwhelming, domineering presence.

Slowly and nervously, she closed the distance between them. She gently wrapped her soft, slender arms completely around his waist.

Krono jolted slightly in surprise because of the sudden physical proximity. He was a being of pure, destructive energy, yet her bodily heat felt incredibly distinct against his pale skin. More precisely, her soft breasts were occasionally grazing against his firm back as Garth’s heavy footsteps shook the earth.

Whether she was doing it intentionally or unintentionally, he truly did not know. But surprisingly, the apex Usurper kind of liked it.

Just then, the peaceful moment was violently interrupted.

Rumble! Rumble!

From directly behind them, the deafening sound of a localized earthquake echoed through the mountain pass.

Trees snapped like dry twigs. Entire boulders were crushed into fine powder.

Krono and Nova turned back in alarm, only to see charging through the ruined forest was a massive, heavily armored horde of Land Dragons.

They were charging with terrifying speed, their heavy metallic footsteps causing the entire valley to tremble.

High above the charging beasts, massive crimson flags violently flapped in the wind. They all bore the golden crest of the Draxen Emperor.

Garth looked back over his shoulder, and his massive yellow eyes instantly shrank in panic.

"Oh, sweet mother of cheese! Those are the Emperor’s Royal Executioners! We are completely doomed!"

"Keep running, you cheese loving lizard. They are just a loud meal delivery service," Krono commanded coldly, not showing a single ounce of fear

Garth cried out in disbelief,

"Delivery service? Are you joking, my master? They are elite siege units! They have enchanted cannons mounted on their backs! They are going to turn my beautiful scales into a burning crater!"

Nova agreed,

"Garth is right, Krono. The Royal Executioners never stop hunting until their target is completely erased. They must have tracked your magical signature from the underground city."

Krono smiled evilly.

"No worries..I was getting tired of walking away from this pathetic empire without leaving a proper message."

"Master, please tell me your message involves us running away really fast!" Garth yelled, dodging a massive blast of green magical fire that instantly vaporized a nearby cluster of pine trees.

Boom!

The explosive shockwave rocked Garth’s massive body, causing Nova to press herself even closer against Krono for stability.

Krono easily maintained his perfect balance. He slowly stood up on the back of the sprinting Mountain Dragon.

Looking down at the charging horde of reptilian elites, there were easily over 300 heavily armed soldiers riding the massive Land Dragons.

"Nova, Hold onto the lizard. I am going to properly introduce myself to the Emperor’s dogs."

"Be careful," Nova said worriedly, while inwardly feeling very bad for not being strong enough.

Krono stood perfectly still on Garth’s back as the horde of heavily armored Land Dragons thundered toward them. Time seemed to slow down for the pale human. Before unleashing absolute carnage upon the Emperor’s elite soldiers, Krono mentally summoned his status screen.

Krono quickly analyzed the glowing blue text. His physical attributes had skyrocketed to terrifying levels after entirely consuming the Arklong family bloodline. Having over three thousand points in raw strength meant he could effortlessly shatter castle walls with his bare fists. He was a walking natural disaster.

He looked down at the charging Royal Executioners. They numbered in the hundreds, their enchanted cannons already glowing with unstable magical energy. Taking them all out in his human form would be entirely possible, but it would take unnecessary time. Krono absolutely hated wasting time.

He wanted to break their arrogant spirits before he broke their fragile bodies. He wanted to show the Draxen Emperor exactly what a true apex predator looked like.

Among his expanding skill set, Krono made his choice.

"Activate Vermilion Dragon Transformation," Krono commanded quietly.

The very second the system registered his intent, the air pressure around him violently collapsed.

Buzz!

Krono’s pale body suddenly erupted with violent crimson fire, shooting hundreds of feet up into the morning sky.

Nova was forced to shield her eyes, clinging desperately to Garth’s thick, mossy scales to avoid being blown away by the sudden shockwave.

Inside the roaring inferno, Krono’s flawless human body began to rapidly transform.

Rumble!

The pillar of fire suddenly dispersed.

It was blown completely away by a single, catastrophic beat of massive wings.

Hovering directly above the trembling valley was an ancient horror pulled straight from the darkest depths of hell.

Shocking everyone present, Krono had fully transformed into a colossal, ancient Vermilion Dragon.

He was easily 50 meters tall. His thick, impenetrable scales were a terrifying mixture of boiling magma and pitch black shadows. His gigantic, leathery wings blotted out the bright morning sun, casting a suffocating, freezing darkness over the entire charging army.

Every single one of the three hundred Royal Executioners immediately slammed on their brakes.

"Rrrrrrrrrr!"

The heavy Land Dragons shrieked in terror, skidding chaotically across the dirt and leaving deep, jagged trenches in the earth.

Their elite riders stared up at the sky in absolute, paralyzing fear. They had confidently marched out to hunt a rogue, runaway human. But now, they were staring directly into the glowing supernova eyes of an ancestral god of destruction.

Down below on the ruined mountain path, Garth was completely flabbergasted.

His massive jaw dropped so wide it practically broke apart. The giant Mountain Dragon’s thick legs trembled like wet paper.

"By the sacred cheese wheels of my ancestors. Master is not just a Dragon Devourer! He is an actual noble dragon! A really, really powerful one!"

Nova stared up at the monstrous, 50 meter beast hovering in the sky.

Strangely, she did not feel even a single ounce of fear. Instead, a deeply unsettling wave of pure adoration washed over her racing heart.

"Magnificent! A Human becoming a Dragon? That is unprecedented!"

High above them, the massive Vermilion Dragon opened his terrifying maw.
