Chapter 625 - (Subduing the Flame) Yi-ya, yi-ya
Little Changsheng seemed to understand that Duan Yunbeng was praising him, for he immediately broke into a grin, revealing a row of tiny teeth. His appearance was so porcelain-doll adorable that Duan Yunbeng couldn’t help but smile again.
Suddenly, everyone felt a slight tremor.
Gu Zuo’s heart skipped a beat.
A tremor? Why would there be such a sensation all of a sudden?!
Duan Yunbeng’s expression also turned grave. “Could some accident have occurred?”
Gongyi Tianheng closed his eyes to sense their surroundings for a moment, then said, “The Hall is vibrating; I fear the situation outside has changed.”
Gu Zuo suddenly spoke up, “Could it be that the Yin-Yang Dragon Fire has entered the void?”
Both Duan Yunbeng and Gongyi Tianheng shared this intuition.
Gongyi Tianheng remarked, “That Yin-Yang Dragon Fire is likely comparable to a Cosmic Realm martial artist.”
Martial artists who reach the Cosmic Realm can maneuver and travel through the void. As Gu Zuo’s spiritual weapon, the Medicinal Celestial Grand Hall usually remains hidden within his Dantian. However, once Gu Zuo hides inside it, the Hall transforms into a speck of dust, concealing itself either within the sands of the ground or within the void itself.
Because the Yin-Yang Dragon Fire is a Wondrous Flame with terrifyingly intense heat, the Hall had hidden itself within the void this time. Yet, the Dragon Flame seemed relentless; it had followed them into the void, rampaging and wreaking havoc. That was the cause of the Hall’s slight vibrations!
Everyone’s mood turned heavy.
The Medicinal Celestial Grand Hall naturally possessed immense defensive power and evasive capabilities, but no matter how powerful its functions were, it had not been fully repaired. Once discovered, it could suffer significant damage. If they weren’t careful, they might find themselves unable to hide within it any longer.
It might seem fine for now, but if a Wondrous Flame like the Yin-Yang Dragon Fire truly chose to burn the void without restraint, who knew if it would actually damage the current state of the Hall? If that happened, those hiding inside would be forced out to face the incineration.
Gu Zuo’s mind whirred as he quickly manipulated the Hall, commanding it to exit the void and return to the outside world, settling deep into the sand and dust. He intended to pilot the object and slowly drift out of the dragon’s territory while the flame was still distracted within the void.
However, as good as Gu Zuo’s plan was, execution was not so simple.
The Yin-Yang Dragon Fire acted as if it had a spiritual connection to the Hall. The moment the Hall left the void, the dragon lunged out as well, thrashing its head and tail while spitting fire and smoke, triggering wave after wave of tremors!
Consequently, an incredibly scorching energy began to seep through the Hall’s defenses. Although this heat was weakened by more than half by the Hall’s innate protection, the people inside could still feel the temperature rising bit by bit. If this continued, staying in the Hall would not be a long-term solution.
Duan Yunbeng’s face was somber. “I fear the Yin-Yang Dragon Fire can sense my trail. Once again, I have implicated you two.”
Gu Zuo sighed. “It may not necessarily be because of you, Senior Brother Duan.” Even now, he wasn’t about to push the blame onto Duan Yunbeng—since they were all in this together now, there was no need to create a rift between them.
Gongyi Tianheng added, “If we are speaking of Yin-Yang power, my son Changsheng is the same.”
Duan Yunbeng’s expression remained grim. “The martial nephew was merely nurtured by the Qi of Yin and Yang; he is no longer the Qi itself. If I weren’t here, his presence alone wouldn’t have caught the attention of the Yin-Yang Dragon Fire.”
The more the two Junior Brothers tried to comfort him, the more self-reproach Duan Yunbeng felt.
In that moment, the thought of heading out to draw the attention of the Yin-Yang Dragon Fire surfaced in his mind again, desperate to give his two Junior Brothers a slim chance at survival.
Just then, little Changsheng, who was nestled in Gu Zuo’s arms, suddenly began babbling “yi-ya, yi-ya.” His words were slurred and unintelligible to anyone present, but he struggled violently, as if he desperately wanted to do something.
Confused, Gu Zuo could only pat him repeatedly to soothe him. Meanwhile, his mind raced with plans on how to proceed—wondering if applying his Fire-Control Technique against the Yin-Yang Dragon Fire could stall it for a moment or two.
But no matter how he looked at it, a Wondrous Flame as powerful as the Cosmic Realm was simply too terrifying. Their situation was truly dire; staying in the Hall felt like waiting for death, yet going out seemed to offer no hope of survival either.
Gongyi Tianheng’s thoughts shifted, and he spoke: “Staying in the Hall for long is not a viable strategy. I shall go out to scout once more and see how that Yin-Yang Dragon Fire reacts.”
Duan Yunbeng refused to let Junior Brother Gongyi go out alone, immediately saying, “I will go with you!”
However, Gongyi Tianheng gave a slight shake of his head. “Senior Brother Duan, you attract the Yin-Yang Dragon Fire too strongly; it is more appropriate for you to remain hidden here. Moreover, if I encounter danger, I can enter this space on my own, whereas you cannot.”
Only then did Duan Yunbeng frown, tentatively agreeing: “If you do not return for a long time, I shall still go out to face life and death alongside you.”
Gongyi Tianheng smiled. “In that case, I naturally won’t stop you.”
Having settled the matter, Gongyi Tianheng gave Gu Zuo a smile.
Gu Zuo knew his reactions were much slower than his Big Brother’s and didn’t insist on following to drag him down. He simply nodded. “Big Brother, you must be careful in everything.”
As he spoke, he pulled on his Big Brother’s forearm, his heart filled with a mix of reluctance and worry.
Gongyi Tianheng chuckled. “Ah Zuo, rest easy.”
With that, his figure blurred, quickly becoming semi-transparent—he was about to leave the Medicinal Celestial Grand Hall. Unexpectedly, at the very second he moved to depart, little Changsheng found a sudden burst of strength from nowhere. He lunged out of Gu Zuo’s arms and threw himself onto Gongyi Tianheng!
In the next instant, both Gongyi Tianheng and little Changsheng vanished.
Gu Zuo’s face turned deathly pale. “Li-Little Changsheng—!”
He didn’t have time to think. He, too, immediately left the Hall!
Duan Yunbeng was equally anxious. Before he could even process the logic of it, his instincts took over, and he grabbed Gu Zuo, following him right out of the sanctuary.
Outside the Hall, Gongyi Tianheng had just stood before the Yin-Yang Dragon Fire. He had already gathered immense power in his palms, prepared to strike and manifest his three avatars, intending to use the combined strength of “four people” to combat the Wondrous Flame.
But before he could act—just as the three avatars in his Sea of Qi were stirring restlessly—he felt something drop onto him. It was warm, soft, white, and plump: his son, Shi Changsheng!
In a flash, Gongyi Tianheng’s habitually calm expression shattered.
It was so dangerous out here that even his own attempt to stall was a “nine deaths, one life” gamble. Seeing his disobedient child suddenly rush out like this struck pure horror into his heart.
But then, something even more shocking occurred.
After appearing, little Changsheng didn’t just stay in his father’s embrace. Instead, he let out two “ah-ah” sounds, and his entire body actually drifted upward!
…It was true that Xiantian Realm martial artists could fly, but Gongyi Tianheng had never imagined that his infant child could already control himself this way, treading upon the empty air.
The most heart-stopping part was that the direction little Changsheng was drifting was straight toward the Yin-Yang Dragon Fire!
This soul-chilling scene also fell into the eyes of Gu Zuo and Duan Yunbeng, who had followed closely behind.
They watched in horror as little Changsheng’s flight speed proved to be incredibly fast; in the span of a single breath, he had already drawn extremely close to that Wondrous Flame!
Gongyi Tianheng did not dare to delay. He practically vaulted into the air instantly, giving chase. Duan Yunbeng, terrified that little Changsheng would be incinerated by the Wondrous Flame, also rushed over without a second thought.
Gu Zuo was the slowest, but he couldn’t wait for his Big Brother to carry him as usual. His feet left the ground as he took flight as fast as he could.
All three were in hot pursuit, but to their utter disbelief, none of them were as fast as little Changsheng!
No, perhaps it wasn’t that the child was fast, but rather that the Yin-Yang Dragon Fire had, at that exact moment, lowered its own body and charged toward little Changsheng with lightning speed!
Gu Zuo’s eyes widened to the point of nearly splitting.
But in the next instant, his expression underwent a violent change… Because his emotions shifted so rapidly, his face looked a bit distorted.
Gongyi Tianheng and Duan Yunbeng both froze mid-air as well.
Duan Yunbeng, in particular, stumbled in his flight, nearly plummeting downward.
It turned out that while little Changsheng flew fast and the Yin-Yang Dragon Fire descended urgently, just when everyone thought the child was about to “die in the dragon’s maw,” the dragon fire actually lowered its head and arched its neck. It allowed little Changsheng’s tiny body to… splat right onto the black dragon’s face. Meanwhile, the white dragon’s tail swept over, and little Changsheng happily grabbed it a couple of times.
Looking at this scene alone, Tianheng and the others almost felt as if they were witnessing a harmonious family reunion.
In fact… perhaps it really was harmonious?
Little Changsheng wore a radiant smile as he crawled all over the black dragon’s face. The white dragon simply leaned in as well, using its horns to support the child’s bottom, as if terrified that he might accidentally fall.
Gu Zuo: “…”
This really looked like long-lost brothers meeting.
Gongyi Tianheng was also somewhat helpless.
Duan Yunbeng’s face twitched; his mental state was on the verge of collapsing.
Right then, little Changsheng suddenly turned his head and waved his tiny hand at Gu Zuo and the others: “Ah-ah-ah-ah!”
The four eyes of the Yin-Yang Dragon Fire suddenly shifted, its pupils fixing on the trio.
As for its mood… no particular emotion could be seen, but the searing heat that had previously whipped up a tidal wave of flames had now vanished. Although it was still somewhat hot here, it was merely an ordinary heat that couldn’t cause any harm to the three of them.
It seemed… as if the Yin-Yang Dragon Fire had suddenly lost its malice?
Gu Zuo and the others tentatively continued flying upward, getting closer and closer to the dragon fire and little Changsheng.
The Yin-Yang Dragon Fire still offered no reaction.
When the three arrived right in front of it, little Changsheng flailed his small palms, “Pa-pa!” slapping the black dragon’s face several times, looking like he was having the time of his life. The white dragon also turned its head, only to be kicked several times by little Changsheng’s tiny feet.
…Yet, the two of them didn’t show the slightest hint of anger; instead, they seemed to be completely indulging little Changsheng’s mischief.
At this point, Gu Zuo was truly speechless.
‘The attitude these two fire dragons have toward our little brat is just too good!’
Immediately after, something even more incredible happened.
The Yin-Yang Dragon Fire suddenly opened both of its maws simultaneously. One spat out a ray of black light, while the other spat out a ray of white light. These two beams quickly merged together and shot directly toward Gu Zuo.
Sensing not even a shred of malice within them, Gu Zuo thought for a moment and chose not to dodge.
In the next instant, the two rays of light plunged straight into Gu Zuo’s Sea of Qi. They instantly illuminated a lotus seed and formed a new, mottled black-and-white lotus petal.
