Chapter 573: Chapter 572: Magic Bombardment

"Let’s talk about how to deal with that thing," Dorn said, skillfully pulling a small pouch from the bag at his waist. "This is some Fluorescent Powder. If that thing is made of gas, then throwing this powder on it should let us see its exact location."

Kase asked, "You knew we’d run into something like this?"

"I’m a Gray Dwarf. Nobody knows more about dealing with invisible creatures than us," Dorn said proudly. "But once this is used up, we’ll have to buy more. Don’t forget, this is a shared party expense."

"What a cheapskate," Kase teased.

"You’ve got no room to talk, Kase my friend. Outside of mealtimes, when have you ever been generous?" Dorn glanced at the others. "Well, I’ll be. I’m just now realizing everyone in this party seems to be a cheapskate."

Colin interrupted their banter. "I suggest we rest for a while. I need to let my mind recover some energy for Casting. I’ll need at least an hour, maybe more."

"Alright then, let’s get some rest." Dorn set down his backpack.

The party immediately spread out, gathered some scattered wood, and built a campfire.

Dorn set a pot over the fire, then tossed in some jerky, carrots, and cabbage, and finally poured in some beer.

Just then, Colin took a small jar from his bag and opened the lid. Inside was the salt he’d brought along, mixed with some dark brown powder.

He got up and poured a little into the stew.

Dorn saw this and thought it was a little strange, but he didn’t stop him.

Afterward, Colin sat down and began to look through the See Invisibility entry in his Spellbook, reviewing the details of the Magic bit by bit.

After a while, the food in the pot was cooked through, and the aroma of the jerky filled the air.

They each grabbed a wooden bowl and ladled out a serving.

After taking a bite, Ale asked, "Colin, what did you put in here? It tastes a lot better."

"It really is!" Orelia also took a bite. "I can taste fish. It tastes like fresh fish, too."

"It’s powdered, salted Aboleth. I mixed it into the salt, but it makes the whole jar smell a bit funny," Colin said, scooping a piece of jerky into his mouth with his spoon.

With the addition of the salted Aboleth, the stew really was much tastier. At least it had a savory, umami flavor now.

Dorn said between bites, "You had something this good and managed to wait until now to bring it out? You’ve really got some nerve, Colin my friend."

"Aboleths aren’t exactly easy to come by. Of course I have to be sparing with it." After Colin finished, the Dwarf across from him let out a deep sigh, not bothering to say anything else.

After they finished eating, Colin sat cross-legged, closed his eyes, and began using Arcane Acuity to restore his mental energy.

The Magic he had just used replayed in his mind again and again, and his brain, strained from the Casting, slowly began to recover.

「About an hour later.」

Colin pushed himself up, stretching out his legs, which had gone numb. After pounding his calves a few times, he began to cast See Invisibility on himself.

This spell could only target the caster; even with Rising Tier Magic, there was no way to apply it to Kase and the others.

The Magic took hold quickly. Colin got up and said to the others, "We can head over now."

"You take a bag of Fluorescent Powder, too. You’ll be the one to point out where that thing is," Dorn said, handing him a small pouch.

Colin took the pouch and nodded.

The group returned to the entrance of the great hall.

This time, aided by the faint glow of the Light spell, Colin could see the Invisible Stalker inside the hall with his own eyes. Its form was just as it had been before, however, still appearing quite blurry.

"It’s right in the center of the hall. It doesn’t seem to be able to leave. In any case, let’s hit it with something nasty to start," Colin whispered.

The others nodded, and each began to chant a Spell.

After a moment of careful thought, Colin began chanting the Spell for Mind Spear. The Spiritual Light of the Magic slowly gathered between his eyebrows, forming a dot that radiated a white glow.

The Invisible Stalker’s Intelligence wasn’t low, but it wasn’t particularly high either—roughly equivalent to that of a normal person.

Although an Acid Ball would deal more Damage than a Mind Spear, the latter had a chance to temporarily overwhelm the opponent’s mind. That would make it easier for Dorn to mark the Invisible Stalker with the Fluorescent Powder.

"By the glory of the Morninglord, strike down this evildoer!" Orelia shouted, raising her Divine Emblem high as a Light Ball shot forth from it.

The resulting Guiding Bolt struck the Invisible Stalker square in the chest. The point of impact flared, then immediately coalesced into a conspicuous Light Ball.

The moment it was hit, the transparent substance making up the invisible monster shuddered violently. The creature then charged silently toward the entrance.

Colin hurriedly sped up his incantation.

The next instant, a silvery Mind Spear erupted from between his brows, striking the creature’s body dead center.

The monster froze on the spot, like a puppet with its strings cut.

Dorn immediately threw his Mind Dagger.

The instant the Dagger reached the Hunter, it flashed with a silver light, and the Gray Dwarf’s body appeared in front of the creature. He flicked his hand, and the Fluorescent Powder in the cloth pouch sprayed forward.

The moment the fine, glowing dust touched the Hunter’s body, it was sucked into its gaseous form by the swirling currents of air.

The Hunter snapped back to its senses and began to roil in place, but it had no way of purging the glowing powder from within its body.

Just then, three golden Scorching Rays struck the Hunter’s chest and exploded.

The burning flames were swept up by a gale, darting about inside the Hunter’s body before being extinguished by the violent winds.

Dorn, who was right in front of the monster, quickly leaped backward while simultaneously throwing a Spiritual Dagger with a backhand flick.

At the same time, both Kase’s Arrow and the dagger struck the Hunter’s chest.

The instant it made contact, the Arrow was deflected as if blown away by a fierce gust of wind.

The Hunter gradually recovered its senses under such a ferocious assault.

The Fluorescent Powder floating within its body began to swirl rapidly as the monster flew toward Colin and the others. But as the creature moved, it didn’t make a single sound, not even the whisper of wind.

Dorn turned and ran toward Colin and the others, shouting, "This thing is too fucking fast!"

Kase said nothing, dropping his Longbow and drawing his Giant Axe as he charged forward. He entered a Frenzy mid-sprint. Seeing this, Dorn quickly ducked in behind him.
