Chapter 540: Chapter 539: Research Project

"Do you guys know any powerful Spiritual Energy users?" Dorn hesitated for a moment, then continued, "I need to learn more about how to use Spiritual Energy."

"Of course, that’s not a problem." Asvir nodded, then looked at Ale sitting beside her.

Ale fiddled with the teacup in front of her. "I don’t need any training," she said.

A moment later, she added, "Warlocks fight by instinct. When I’m in extreme danger, the Magic Power in my body becomes more active. So, I just need to gain enough knowledge to know how to use it when it surges. That’s enough to enhance my combat ability."

"You’re a daughter of the Orellion Clan; it’s your call to make." Asvir nodded. "As for the rest of you, aside from Colin, a messenger will come to your homes to inform you of the training location. All you’ll need to do is show up."

"Thank you so much for your help," Orelia said sincerely.

The others also gave Asvir a slight nod of thanks.

"Consider this a sign of our approval. After all, countless ’seeds’ in Thousand Masts City are waiting to be nurtured, but very few ever get the chance to be watered," Asvir said. "Just as Thousand Masts City never wants for refugees from distant lands, it also has no shortage of geniuses."

"Alright, that’s all for today. I have other matters to attend to."

With that, she stood and drained her teacup in a single gulp.

Immediately, a deep blue Magic Radiance flared across her signature black robe, and Asvir’s figure vanished in an instant.

Just then, several Priests in robes entered through the main door of the meeting room. Their loose-fitting robes were free of any complex ornamentation, adorned only with a pale golden trim.

These Priests were all quite old, their faces nearly covered in wrinkles.

It was also worth noting that due to Divine Arts and the blessings of the Gods, Priests typically lived longer than Ordinary people. These men were likely even older than they appeared.

Orelia, who was sitting nearby, quickly got up and began passing out teacups, intending to pour tea for the newcomers.

"Don’t mind us, child," one of the older, chubbier Priests said with a smile. "Please, sit back down. Don’t wear yourself out."

Colin noticed that none of the Priests showed any sign of aversion upon seeing Orelia.

’They must be Priests who are on good terms with Edwin. That would explain their reaction.’

"Thank you, Priest." Orelia gave a bashful smile, lowering her head as she returned to her seat.

The Priests approached Colin and the others, then took out bells, Incense Burners, Holy Emblems, and other such items before beginning their Casting.

As they chanted their prayers, Colin felt his skin begin to grow faintly warm. He could clearly feel a light, tingling itch spread across his body.

While the healing was underway, Colin stole a glance in Orelia’s direction.

’The young girl looks fine. After all, the books only said Divine Healing Spells caused Damage to Undead Creatures; they should still work normally on beings like Demons.’

The Priests completed their Divine Arts at almost the same moment.

The elderly Priest who had spoken before said, "And with that, your dry-skin affliction is cured. If you have any further issues, you can come here directly. There’s no need to go through Edwin again."

"Thank you, Priest." Colin gave a slight nod of gratitude.

"It is our duty," the old Priest said with a smile, then looked to Edwin. "We have a few things to go over with you, Edwin. Do you have time to stay for another cup of tea or two?"

Edwin looked at the others.

Colin quickly said, "We can go back on our own."

"Goodbye for now, then, Colin." Edwin smiled and nodded.

The group then stood, left the Divine Hall, and headed toward their apartment.

On the way, Orelia whispered to the others, "Those were the canons who manage the Divine Hall’s affairs and some of the retired elders... I can’t believe we were actually treated by them personally." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

"Hmph, lucky for us we have these kinds of connections," Dorn said. "If any other Adventurers caught an affliction like that, it’d probably be a real hassle. It would’ve definitely cost a fortune, anyway."

With that, he sniffled and asked, "So, what’s everyone doing now?"

"Mister Donkexes gave me a compendium on potions. I want to go back and read it."

"I’m going to the Black Tower to ask Morel about that research project."

"I’m going to the Great Dome to look for more history books on the Ancient Empire."

"I’m gonna go get a pork knuckle. That Chuul and frog meat had no grease on ’em at all. I feel like I must’ve lost weight," Kase said, licking his lips.

Dorn laced his fingers behind his head. "Alright, I’m heading to the sewers to train, then."

Colin shot him a sideways glance. "I thought you were going to say you’d go with Kase for pork knuckle."

"A month ago, I definitely would have," Dorn said, gazing at the sky. "But now... I feel like the Undercity is more dangerous than I imagined. If there’s a next time, I’m going to be the one who turns the tide. Just like you."

"You’d better get to it, then," Colin said with a smile, patting his shoulder.

"Hmph, don’t use that tone with me. I’m much older than you, you know."

"Alright, alright. I’m not twice your height, after all."

"Oh, screw you, Colin," Dorn said with mock seriousness, but he couldn’t stop a pained-looking grin from spreading across his face. "You’ve got a real talent for digs, but you’re still no match for the pointy-eared little princess over there."

Ale, who was walking beside them, shot Dorn a contemptuous glance.

’Colin had to agree with that.’

’When it came to telling Dwarf jokes, no one in the party could hold a candle to Ale. In all of Thousand Masts City, perhaps only the Wandering Poets could give her a run for her money.’

The group returned to their apartment, dropped off their things, and went their separate ways.

Colin made his way to the Black Tower, walking down one of its internal corridors.

Just as he was wondering how to find Morel, the man’s familiar figure appeared at the far end of the corridor.

The moment they were within earshot, the man started to complain, "Why aren’t you taking a couple of days off?"

"I’d just be idle anyway. I came to start Learning Magic," Colin said.

"I know what you’re here for. Follow me," Morel said irritably, then suddenly pulled a rolled-up parchment from his pocket and handed it over. "Asvir told me to give you this map."

Colin took the map and followed him down the hallway.

The Magic woven into the hallway would naturally guide them to their destination.
