Chapter 531: Chapter 530: The End of the Battle

Orelia raised her Shield of Warding, tucking her small body behind it.

As the Aboleth whipped its long tendrils, several ethereal blue shadows appeared around it. These phantoms took on the rough appearance of fully armed Orc Warriors.

They swung their weapons with all their might, doing their best to deflect the dancing tentacles.

However, the Aboleth’s attacks were incredibly powerful. Only one of the three tentacles missed due to the Ancestral Guardians’ interference. The other two lashed directly against Orelia’s Shield. The Tiefling’s small figure vanished in an instant, sinking deeper into the water.

At that exact moment, a point of red light slowly descended from above, landing on the Aboleth’s back.

Immediately after, a scorching light blossomed.

The suddenly erupting golden fireball blasted a cavity in the water. The mucus on the Aboleth’s sides was completely torn apart by the explosion, yet Colin, who was right next to it, felt no impact at all. It was a Fireball Technique cast by Ale using Cautious Spellcasting.

A black shadow then burst through the exploding flames.

Colin took a closer look and saw it was Kase, holding a Giant Axe with both hands.

He was clad in ethereal blue Spiritual Body Armor, and a layer of ice had formed on the blade of his Frost Giant Battleaxe.

The rapidly approaching Half-Orc swung his axe viciously at the Aboleth. The huge Axe Blade slammed into his opponent’s body. The icy shell on the blade shattered, and the Bear Claw on the Axe Blade sank deep into its flesh.

Wisps of cold energy seeped into the monster’s body, and the Aboleth’s movements visibly slowed.

’Now, Colin! Swing the sword! Make this swing count!’

Roaring in his mind, Colin swung his blade with all his might.

The crimson-black arc of fire instantly created a white trail of bubbles in the water, looking as if it had sliced the murky black water itself in two.

A strange sensation traveled up the hilt into his palm. Colin felt as if he hadn’t struck a living creature, but rather a large, tough block of solid rubber.

Colin quickly steadied the blade in his hands.

’Any mistake, any moment of distraction now could cause the blade to be deflected, greatly reducing the damage of the wound.’

Viscous green fluid burst out into the dark currents. The blade sliced smoothly through, carving a huge gash in the Aboleth’s body. It even cut halfway through the spine connecting its body.

The edges of the wound were instantly seared by the flames, turning a strange black color.

Colin, gripping his sword, knew that this single blow hadn’t been enough to finish off his tenacious opponent.

But the Aboleth above him twisted its body. Several of its tentacles coiled together and began to bend backward.

The fish’s body twitched violently, and the tangled tentacles whipped forward.

At that critical moment, Colin felt a push from his side. Kase had swum over and shoved him aside.

The massive tail lashed directly against the Half-Orc, smashing him down into the dark depths. Even though he couldn’t hear underwater, Colin was certain that blow had broken several of Kase’s bones.

At the same time, eight Kuo-toa holding Person-Catching Forks rushed in from all directions.

The Aboleth turned its head to look at the servants approaching it.

Just like with the Chuul from before, faint blue, glowing threads began to seep from the face of one of the Fishmen. The blue threads slowly wound around the Aboleth’s body, and its wounds began to heal at a visible rate.

However, the injury was so severe that the healing had little effect.

But the Aboleth was surrounded by its servants.

’As long as those Fishmen can hold me back,’ Colin thought, ’it’s only a matter of time before this thing is back to full health.’

"Finish it, Colin! Only you can take down that stupid fish now!" Dorn’s voice rang out again. "You have to save Durkin!"

With a flash of silver light, Dorn’s figure appeared at Colin’s side.

The silver light emanating from the Spiritual Dagger in his hand flickered at a highly unstable frequency, like a faulty lightbulb.

Colin saw Dorn open his mouth wide, countless bubbles escaping from it as if he were roaring with all his might. Then, trickles of a red liquid that instantly dissolved in the water began to stream from his nostrils.

Several points of silver light flickered at his side, like stars in the night sky.

In an instant, these points of light began to rapidly expand and take shape, solidifying into silver Spiritual Daggers. The Spiritual Daggers slowly turned in the water.

The number of daggers matched the number of surrounding Kuo-toa, and the tip of each dagger was aimed at one of the Fishmen.

HMMMM—

Accompanied by a humming sound, the Spiritual Daggers instantly pierced the chests of the Fishmen.

The eyes of the eight Kuo-toa rolled back. Their fingers instantly went limp, and their Person-Catching Forks, pulled by gravity, slowly sank to the bottom. The bodies of the Fishmen, however, began to float toward the surface.

Having lost the targets for transferring its wounds, the blue threads around the Aboleth instantly dissipated, as if washed away by the current.

Having accomplished this, Dorn lost all his strength.

He sank slowly into the depths, as if he had fallen unconscious.

Clad in Armor, Colin struggled desperately in the water, swimming toward the monster that was now within arm’s reach.

But the Aboleth, its spine nearly severed, had no way to escape. Its three crimson eyes erupted with a scarlet glow.

The sensation of another mental attack assaulted Colin’s mind.

Colin swung his sword and, with a backhand motion, used Magic Missile to fire three Force Darts, striking the three red eyes before him.

The eyeballs, like shattered glass, developed several distinct, web-like cracks.

The blade began to tremble again. The holy light created by Radiant Sword started to gather on the blade, then was tinged a faint, bloody red by the crimson-black energy that had not yet dissipated.

"You cannot kill me, human."

The Aboleth’s tone was no longer as serene as before; it now held a hint of barely perceptible confusion.

Clearly, the rapid downturn of events had caught it somewhat off guard.

The four tentacles on the Aboleth’s sides lunged toward Colin.

A transparent Shield instantly appeared at Colin’s side as the Shield spell took effect.

Under the effects of the spell and Elf Dance, three of the tentacles struck nothing, but the fourth lashed viciously against Colin’s arm.

A wave of excruciating pain shot from the point of impact straight to his brain.

Colin paid it no mind, instead grabbing the opponent’s tentacle with his free hand to keep from being thrown away completely.

The tentacles that had missed their mark instantly retracted, wrapping tightly around his body instead. But they failed to restrain his right hand, which still held the sword.

As the tentacles squeezed tighter, his Plate Armor Chest Guard began to constrict and compress. Under the immense pressure, Colin could even hear the sound of his own ribs breaking.

Colin seized the opportunity and thrust his sword forward.

The blade plunged straight in, sinking deep into the Aboleth’s head.
