Chapter 529: Chapter 528: The Positioning of Magic

"The rest of you, to me!" Colin shouted. He then fell silent and swung his blade, using his [Sword Dance] ability to begin Casting.

The others hurried to his side.

An instant later, a clear stream of water erupted before them, immediately forming a massive sphere of water.

Colin quickly raised his visor, cupped a handful of water, and brought it to his mouth for a large gulp. The sensation of choking on water immediately made him want to spit it all back out.

But needing to breathe, Colin forced himself to swallow.

A powerful urge to exhale then welled up inside him. He opened his mouth and let out a long breath, instantly expelling the water he had just drunk.

The others, whose breathing was also impaired, copied his actions and began using the [Jade Water Ball] to breathe.

"Help me make a pit."

Hearing Colin, Donkexes immediately began Casting, creating a small pit in the ground. Colin then moved the [Jade Water Ball] over the pit and dispelled the Magic. All the liquid that had formed the sphere poured into the hollow.

Colin began Spellcasting again, tossing his Giant Sword to the ground.

The [Object Positioning Skill] took effect. The Giant Sword spun rapidly on the ground before pointing straight ahead. At the same time, he received a precise mental fix on his chosen object: piles of coins.

The Magic had a limited range, so the location it had locked onto was, without a doubt, the Aboleth’s treasury.

"The Aboleth’s treasury is over there, thirty meters away in a straight line!" Colin shouted to Donkexes, pointing at the stone brick wall below.

The reservoir was a semi-circular space, and the spot he was pointing to was at its very bottom.

Donkexes scooped a large mouthful of water from the [Jade Water Ball] and then began loudly chanting a Spell in the Dwarven tongue.

At that moment, the giant stone hand hanging in mid-air rapidly disintegrated, falling to the ground as a pile of rubble.

The Spellbook hanging at Donkexes’s waist began to flip through its pages at high speed.

The entire cavern began to shake violently, as if struck by an earthquake.

As the ground trembled, the stone bricks at the spot Colin had indicated began to collapse inward, as if the earth supporting them had been yanked away.

Loose bricks and stones tumbled into the darkness below, sending up splashes of water.

This was the Tier Six Magic, [Move Earth].

The Magic itself could create a trench six meters deep out of thin air or raise a large section of the ground. However, it only affected soil, not rock. Furthermore, the Magic was extremely slow to take effect and was virtually incapable of harming any creature that could move.

However, the soil beneath the stone bricks wasn’t very thick, which was why the collapse occurred so quickly.

"I’m getting too old for this..." Donkexes said, still maintaining the Magic. "Langgrin has our [Underwater Breathing Potions], so I can’t help you down there. But I can cast one last Tier Four Magic. It will be just enough to protect your and Kase’s minds."

After Casting several spells that required concentration, Colin’s [Intelligent Barrier] had been unknowingly dispelled. The veteran Donkexes noticed this immediately.

"That’s fine. We still have two Potions left. You stay up here and look after Langgrin. I can tell he’s already struggling."

As he spoke, Colin took out an [Underwater Breathing Potion] and handed it to Ale. Meanwhile, Dorn drank the Potion he was holding.

Now, the entire party had the ability to breathe freely underwater.

"Is Ale coming with us, too?" Orelia asked worriedly.

Her head was slightly bowed, and she looked drained of energy.

Ale patted the Giant Crossbow and Hand Half Sword at her waist and said with determination, "Even if I can’t perform Spellcasting, I can still fight. At a time like this, I have to stand with you!"

"If that’s how you feel, then come with us," Colin said with a nod.

As he spoke, he noticed that Orelia’s Potion Bag was empty.

Although the Spiritual Light still shone at her side, Casting spells beyond her limits twice in a row had pushed the Tiefling’s body to its breaking point. Even drinking a Potion couldn’t completely heal her injuries.

Next, they would have to face the Aboleth head-on. The monster’s control over its environment stemmed from its treasure hoard. The treasury was its final line of defense, a line it would not allow to be crossed.

Colin led the way, leaping down.

The moment they all jumped from the small island, he began Spellcasting, placing [Feather Fall] on everyone.

Gray feathers appeared at their sides once again, supporting them as they descended slowly.

Meanwhile, the crack in the stone-brick wall below grew wider and wider.

Seeing that the crack was now wide enough for the group to pass through, Donkexes, still on the island, began Casting. A cold sensation once again enveloped Colin’s mind as it was once more protected by the [Intelligent Barrier].

The party landed one by one at the bottom of the reservoir, gathering around the gaping fissure.

Colin stared into the viscous, churning darkness below the fissure.

’Underwater visibility is limited. In a situation like this, it’s impossible to rely on sight to target a spell from the surface. That would make Casting incredibly difficult.’

’This underwater cave was clearly excavated by enslaved creatures under the Aboleth’s command. The space inside isn’t small, but it’s not especially large either—at least, it’s much smaller than the reservoir above.’

’In a place like this, it’ll be hard for the Aboleth to evade the party’s concentrated assault.’

’At least, much harder than it was for it to hide in the reservoir.’

"Ale, you stay up here for now. Look for an opportunity to attack. Orelia, you can drop the Spiritual Light. Use [Daylight] instead to help Ale see her targets.

That Aboleth can transfer the Damage it takes to its minions. We either take out its minions quickly, or we take the beast itself down in one swift assault."

With that said, Colin took the lead and plunged into the fissure before them.

The instant the cold, viscous darkness enveloped him completely, a bright light from the surface above dispersed it. Though the light only illuminated a portion of the space, it brought a profound sense of comfort.

After plunging into the water, Colin composed himself and maintained a steady breath.

His Plate Armor and waterlogged Cotton Armor dragged him toward the bottom, but under the circumstances, no one would be willing to shed their Armor and face the Aboleth’s tentacles unprotected.

Colin scanned his surroundings.

Even with the bright light from above, his vision was still swallowed by endless darkness. For a disorienting moment, he felt as if he had sunk into a vast, open ocean far from any land, not a small, water-filled cave in the Underworld.

Countless dark shapes stirred in the black water. He could hear almost nothing besides the gurgling of bubbles.

Just then, a massive shadow appeared before Colin.
