Chapter 526: Chapter 526: Contending with the Monster

Viscous, yellow-green blood trickled down the creature’s facial tentacles.

Colin felt the pincers around his waist loosen their grip. He adjusted his stance, landing steadily with an agility that seemed almost impossible while wearing Half-plate Armor.

Just then, the water beside the island began to surge outward, coalescing into a colossal wave that crashed toward them.

Within the dark wave loomed an enormous black shadow.

The shadow appeared to be over six meters long. Four slender tentacles extended from the back of its head, and several fins, used for maneuvering in the water, grew from its body.

In the murky water, Colin couldn’t make out the creature’s head, nor could he tell what effect his last Flaming Arrow had.

He didn’t have high hopes, though.

Records indicated that an Aboleth could use Spiritual Energy to transfer its wounds to its servants. As long as enough servants were within its line of sight, the Aboleth was practically unkillable.

The Damage from the Flaming Arrow had most likely been transferred away. There was probably a whole school of Kuo-toa hiding underwater for that very purpose.

To finish this thing off for good, they had to inflict a massive amount of Damage in a short time.

Standing nearby, Ale raised her Magic Staff, Casting a Spell.

A blast of frigid wind erupted from the tip of her staff. The chilling air instantly froze the wave upon contact, but under the immense kinetic energy, the ice was quickly crushed to pieces.

But at that moment, the shadow in the water vanished as if blown away by the cold wind.

"It’s an illusion! I can’t use another ’Wall of Earth’! Brace for impact!" Donkexes roared.

He quickly directed the Bigby’s Hand to fly to Orelia’s side.

The Chuul facing the Tiefling wasn’t idle, either. It relentlessly attacked the giant magical hand before it with its claws.

Colin also looked toward Orelia.

She was retreating behind the Bigby’s Hand, Shield raised, to avoid the Chuul’s threat.

Right now, the Tiefling maintaining the Spiritual Light was the core of the team.

’But if the Aboleth wanted to, it was only a matter of time before Orelia’s Spiritual Light was interrupted...’

Colin shook the thought from his head and rushed toward Orelia, ready to defend against an attack at any moment.

But no shadow reappeared in the middle of the massive wave.

Watching the onrushing water, Colin drove his Giant Sword into the rock beneath him with a sharp CLANG.

At that moment, a silver light flashed beside him.

Dorn, who had just Teleported, grabbed his forearm tightly. "Don’t let me get washed away!"

"You should have gone to Kase," Colin shouted.

Before Dorn could reply, the wave slammed into them.

Colin squeezed his eyes shut. It felt as if countless invisible hands were pushing him from the front, his body uncontrollably forced backward.

Then, an endless cold accompanied by a foul, fishy stench assaulted him from all sides.

The water in this pool was clearly mixed with the Aboleth’s mucus.

Colin quickly drew upon the Magic stored in his armor. The armor’s Magic Power and his own physical muscles worked in unison, resisting the immense force before him.

The struggle was so intense that it felt like several minutes had passed.

When the coldness around him finally receded, he opened his eyes. The Purifying Spiritual Light from Orelia had completely vanished.

The ethereal blue Shield Kase had summoned enveloped Orelia.

Under the assault of the massive wave, the Shield was on the verge of shattering, but its continued existence meant Orelia hadn’t taken any Damage.

However, the Tiefling was currently huddled on the spot, trembling all over. It reminded Colin of her miserable state when she was freezing in the North.

"Du-tak!"

Dorn shouted a word in the Dwarven tongue.

Not far away, Orelia flinched, then looked around as if waking from a dream. It seemed she had been snapped out of an illusion, likely because Dorn had used his Spiritual Energy to dispel the one created by the Aboleth.

Generally speaking, in Magic, besides illusions that need to be overcome with the Perception Attribute, there are also those that deliberately simulate a real environment, which the user must overcome with common sense.

From Colin’s perspective, that meant relying on one’s Intelligence Attribute to solve it—which was Orelia’s weak point.

Relieved, Colin glanced at their surroundings.

Kase and Langgrin were still locked in combat with the Chuul.

Kase, in his Frenzy state, had overpowered his opponent. The Chuul’s carapace already had several new cracks, clearly the result of several swings from the Half-Orc’s Giant Axe.

Langgrin, on the other hand, was dominating his opponent. While swinging his warhammer, he continuously cast a few Cantrips and Low-tier Magic. As a veteran Mechanician, it was only a matter of time before he finished off the creature before him.

Donkexes was currently staying behind Langgrin.

He must have relied on Langgrin to weather the massive wave just now.

Dorn, meanwhile, had once again started to roam the battlefield. His Spiritual Dagger would fly out from various angles, precisely striking his opponents’ weak points.

Just then, a black shadow suddenly shot out from beneath the water.

Its massive body was unmistakably the Aboleth’s.

The creature was covered in a thick, viscous slime. Its several fins were spread wide, allowing it to fly through the air like a bird as it charged toward Kase, who was still fighting the Chuul.

Seeing this, the Half-Orc stood his ground, raising his Axe and swinging it at the Aboleth in midair.

The broad Axe Blade smashed directly onto the Aboleth’s head, letting out a heart-stopping, muffled THUD. Kase roared, holding his ground against the charging Aboleth.

Veins bulged all over his body, and his feet gouged two shallow trenches in the ground.

The sharp Axe Blade bit deep into the Aboleth’s skin, drawing spurts of sticky green blood.

"Watch out for the mucus covering it! It can transmit ’Lungs of the Abyss’! If you get infected, you’ll only be able to breathe underwater!"

While shouting the warning, Colin rushed to Orelia’s side. He watched the Aboleth and the Chuul attacking Kase, then began to chant a Spell as sparks of lightning flickered around him.

Just then, the filthy water around the island began to surge and gather once more, coalescing into an overwhelming tidal wave.

The Spell was chanted, and blossoms of electricity bloomed in the darkness.

Silvery-white lightning instantly pierced Colin’s targets. The light exploded, and convulsing arcs of electricity spread across the Aboleth’s massive body, leaving countless charred marks. Both Chuul convulsed, letting out low snarls.

Immediately after, a fist-sized point of light flew toward the Chuul and the Aboleth and exploded, creating a brilliant spark of fire.
