Chapter 1391: Chapter 1390: Return to the Great Brahma Heaven Temple

Upon entering Dingyuan Dao, Master Tucha clearly grew much more cautious, even slowing down somewhat, and diverting more of his strength into concealing his Qi and probing the surroundings.

Because he knew very well that if the monks of the Great Vajra Temple saw him in such a weakened state, they would definitely "invite" him over to the Great Vajra Temple to sit for a bit.

Master Tucha naturally had no desire to go "sit" in the Great Vajra Temple, so he had to be extra careful.

"It shouldn’t be that bad, right? The Great Vajra Temple is in Xizhou of Dingyuan Dao—under normal circumstances, as long as you detour around it you’ll be fine, no?" Lu Zheng asked.

"It’s not that simple. Though the Great Vajra Temple is located in Xizhou, the whole of Dingyuan Dao is within its sphere of influence. Heaven only knows if some monk is traveling the road; if he runs into even one, that’s his death," Si Lingxi explained.

Lu Zheng thought it over and felt that made sense. Back during the flood, when he entered Sanjiang Dao together with Liu Qingyan, they’d seen disciples of the White Cloud Temple active in every prefecture of Sanjiang Dao.

And the village where they’d run into Dongyangzi back then was not within the borders of Jizhou either.

If Master Tucha happened to carelessly run into the Ancestor of the Great Vajra Temple, then the plot would really get exciting.

"Moreover, Dingyuan Dao doesn’t only have the Great Vajra Temple; the rest of the sects and factions, taken together, are also stronger than those of Lingbei Dao."

Si Lingxi shook her head and said, "In this old monk’s current state, even if he encounters an Abnormal Person with a mere one or two thousand years of Dao Practice, he wouldn’t be a match."

At these words, Lu Zheng looked at the scene in the Cloud Palace Treasure Mirror: Master Tucha’s face deathly pale, blood at the corner of his mouth, breathing erratic, Qi withered, eyes dull, expression anxious. He couldn’t help but click his tongue.

"How pitiful. Let’s give him a quick end later, shall we?"

Si Lingxi nodded. "Don’t worry, there won’t even be slag left over."

Lu Zheng also nodded, letting out a breath. "Then I’m relieved."

Right then, Master Tucha had the miserable luck to actually run into a monk.

By a perfect coincidence, that monk was at a critical point in his cultivation. His Qi surged to the heavens, Buddha Light shining up to the sky, and it just so happened to break Master Tucha’s Invisibility technique, illuminating him plainly.

Master Tucha: "..."

Nameless monk: "..."

The two couldn’t help but stare at each other, speechless for a moment.

This monk had nearly three thousand years of Dao Practice. Though he was not a monk of the Great Vajra Temple, he was still a named expert in Dingyuan Dao, so he recognized Master Tucha.

Thus, at first sight, the monk’s expression couldn’t help but change with shock, a bit guilty and unsure.

But in the blink of an eye, his face changed again, turning to overjoyed delight.

The number-three figure of the Great Brahma Heaven Temple, actually gravely wounded, his Qi withered to the extreme?

On an ordinary day, he would of course not be a match for Master Tucha, but he just happened to have the strength to sense Master Tucha’s true condition at this moment.

"Amitabha Buddha!"

The monk intoned the Buddha’s name. His figure moved, immediately rising into the air, flying to intercept Master Tucha.

"I pay my respects to Master Tucha. Meeting upon the roadside, Yuanjing is deeply honored, and would like to invite Master to the White Light Temple for tea and a casual sit. I ask Master to move this way."

Monk Yuanjing was not afraid that Master Tucha might be feigning injury to trick him. This place was within the territory of Dingyuan Dao, and the White Light Temple was not far. Master Tucha might be formidable, but to take him down in merely three or five moves would still be impossible.

Master Tucha’s eyes bulged. He didn’t even pause his flight, simply carved out an arc in the air and continued flying toward the Northwest.

At the same time, Master Tucha’s voice drifted into Zen Master Yuanjing’s ears.

"Many thanks for Zen Master’s invitation, but this poor monk still has urgent matters and must return to the temple. Once this poor monk’s business is done, I shall certainly visit the White Light Temple to disturb you, and savor tea and discuss the Dharma with Zen Master Yuanjing."

The reply was perfectly polite, but the threat and intimidation in his words was impossible to conceal.

"Amitabha Buddha!"

Seeing Master Tucha turn away, Zen Master Yuanjing’s eyes shone. Having no more doubts, he directly soared upward. With a clap of both palms, a Buddha Banner appeared in his hands, engraved all over with sutras, and set at its top was a Luminous Pearl.

In the next instant, the Luminous Pearl burst into ten thousand rays of light, shooting out ten thousand spans of white radiance that poured down toward Master Tucha.

Knowing how formidable Master Tucha was, Zen Master Yuanjing did not hold back, directly activating the Magical Treasure, and also bringing his own power to its peak.

The white light blanketed half the sky, Brahma sounds resounding in waves, striking straight at Master Tucha’s Divine Soul.

In a flash, the white Buddha Light reached the top of Master Tucha’s head, then transformed into a Buddha’s Palm, slamming down.

"Open!"

Master Tucha was forced to once again churn his Buddha Power, striking out a palm ahead.

A mouthful of fresh blood spurted from his lips, but he managed to force open a narrow gap in the Buddha Light Palm.

In the next moment, Master Tucha shot through that gap, and as he looked back he saw Zen Master Yuanjing’s figure streaking toward him at extreme speed.

"Amitabha Buddha! Master, there is no need to be so polite. Whatever you wish to say, the White Light Temple is willing to relay."

Master Tucha’s gaze hardened. His right hand raised, palm turned into a blade. With a single chop, he actually severed his own left arm at the elbow.

In the next instant, Master Tucha grabbed his own left forearm, and with the surge of fresh blood gushing out, he forcefully swung it backward.

A sheet of blood, crimson yet shot through with glimmers of gold, wrapped around his severed arm as it was flung out.

The quantity of that blood was not small at all. Before it reached the white light, it suddenly scattered, transforming into a cloud of blood mist. At the same time, that severed left arm condensed in the void into a Buddha Dharma Aspect with four heads and four arms.

"Om! Ma! Ni! Pad! Me! Hum!"

The Buddha Dharma Aspect chanted the Six True Words from its mouth, its whole body radiating Buddha Light, directly blocking both the white light and Zen Master Yuanjing, and sealing the surrounding void.

By the time Zen Master Yuanjing broke through the Buddha Dharma Aspect’s blockade, he could no longer see any trace of Master Tucha’s figure, only hear the echo of one sentence left behind.

"Zen Master Yuanjing, this poor monk will hold today’s invitation close to my heart and dare not forget. Once tomorrow’s business is done, this poor monk will certainly personally visit the White Light Temple to disturb Zen Master!"

"Amitabha Buddha!"

Zen Master Yuanjing hovered in mid-air, his eyes narrowing slightly, but without the least hint of fear.

The karmic entanglements between the Buddhist Sect of Dingyuan Dao and Western Buddhism had long since become inextricable. One more knot between the White Light Temple and the Great Brahma Heaven Temple was hardly going to make a difference.

...

"Not bad. I thought we’d have to step in and lend him a hand," Lu Zheng said.

"He is, after all, the Guardian Grand Elder of the Great Brahma Heaven Temple. He must have a bit of skill to his name," Si Lingxi said coolly.

On the other side, Master Tucha’s aura declined yet again. This time he truly was grievously injured and at death’s door, flying along on the verge of drawing his last breath, half alive at best.

Luckily, nothing else happened on the road afterward. He smoothly flew out of the Dingyuan Dao Territory and entered the Western Buddha Country.

And the Great Brahma Heaven Temple lay in the eastern reaches of the Western Buddha Country, close to the Da Jing Border.

"White Light Temple!"

Master Tucha muttered as he flew, "White Cloud Temple! Phoenix Mountain!"

"Good, very good, Amitabha Buddha!"

In the next instant, the white clouds parted. In the distance, faint golden light flickered. Master Tucha lifted his gaze, and saw the Great Brahma Heaven Temple already visible far ahead.

He had finally returned!
