Chapter 833: Chapter 50: I Like Group Fights

Dragon Capital, Celestial Principle Academy.

In the canteen’s private kitchen, four big pots were cooking at the same time. Ma Liu’s hands were moving so fast they were almost leaving afterimages. Before Li Xin returned, he had no intention of leaving Dragon Capital, especially now that Xueyin had inherited Principal Mordo’s Celestial Principle Sword and her strength was skyrocketing. Her advancement was too fast, her foundations unstable; at this time she very much needed a Gourmet like Ma Liu to assist her.

Kung Pao chicken, sweet and sour ribs, twice-cooked pork, stir‑fried blood duck, and on the other side of the stove a special steamed egg custard in the steamer. Ma Liu controlled the heat precisely, his cookware flipping nonstop. Under the Gourmet’s special cooking methods, an invisible power seeped thread by thread into the still half‑cooked ingredients, bound together through taste and locked into the food itself.

In the dining hall, Xueyin was sleeping sprawled over the table, her little face pressed against her arm, squeezing out a bit of soft flesh. Her long eyelashes lay flat and obedient, her lips slightly pouted, lip beads moist. If not for the drool wetting half her sleeve, she really would have been a pitifully adorable little cutie, completely unlike the "cold-blooded killer little junior master" the outside world talked about.

The aroma of food yanked her out of her dreams. Her lashes trembled as she pried open her eyelids and let out an enormous yawn. She was already at Four Lives now, and the consequence of advancing so fast was that no matter how long she slept it never felt enough; even her bones felt sore and itchy. She was growing taller, shooting up. She stretched lazily, and her top rode up again, revealing a strip of snow‑white little belly, her navel round and cute.

"Sixth Bro, what good stuff do we have today?" Xueyin called out, then suddenly felt the damp on her sleeve. Without blushing or panicking, she simply rolled up the sleeve in one go—what you couldn’t see didn’t exist.

"Awake?" Ma Liu swiftly dished everything out, grinning ear to ear. He packed a big lunch box for Lin Fei, who was still working at Justice Daily, and brought all the rest over to Xueyin’s table. "Classic Dragon Capital stir‑fries, extra‑super‑large portion of diced chicken, and the sweet and sour ribs you ordered yesterday, twice‑cooked pork, stir‑fried blood duck."

He set the dishes, then brought out a large plate of boiled greens and the egg custard. "This was your mom’s instruction."

Xueyin curled her lips; the greens were redundant. But anything made by Ma Liu—even bitter melon—wasn’t exactly inedible. With a Gourmet’s reputation, any dish you don’t like just hasn’t met the cooking method that suits you yet.

Xueyin had just scooped herself a bowl of rice when a gust of wind blew at the door. "Hey, timing beats being early." Grandmaster Philson plopped himself down at the table, snatched up a pair of chopsticks, took Xueyin’s rice bowl right out of her hands, and dug in.

Xueyin blinked. "Teacher! That’s my rice."

"Hey, I’ve been lecturing all day, I’m starving. Xueyin, go help your teacher get another bowl." Philson justifiably widened his eyes. "Respect your teacher and value the Way!"

Xueyin stomped her foot and watched her teacher eat at lightning speed. Celestial Principle Academy followed reason most of the time—meal times were the exception. At this point she couldn’t care that much either. She refilled herself a bowl of rice and joined the battle over dishes. Hidden among the extra‑large portion of diced chicken were two big drumsticks; she had to get at least one!

The two of them ate like the wind sweeping away clouds. Ma Liu watched with a smile. If Brother Xin were here, he’d probably be fighting over the food the same way, right?

Yet as he smiled, worry surfaced in Ma Liu’s heart. Xueyin’s growth speed was terrifying. From inheriting the Celestial Principle Sword to resonating with the Wish Power of Dragon Capital’s citizens—how long had it really been?

And she was already about to冲击天使...even Divine Favored wouldn’t dare go this hard. He kept feeling that some kind of power was influencing things, but with his current cultivation he couldn’t detect it. More deeply speaking, it was an intuition coming from his inheritance of the Gourmet’s power.

As for mysterious Hidden Powers, someone like him, from an ancient association, naturally viewed them with caution.

Of course, Ma Liu also knew how hard Xueyin worked. Talent was one thing; her demon‑slaying and evil‑purging were her way of digesting Wish Power and understanding the Divine Relic.

This last great battle had made Xueyin understand that to protect the people around her, she had to become stronger. And she had always been the most decisive person since childhood, with a heart free of distractions.

Watching Xueyin’s cheeks bulging as she ate, Ma Liu still felt very comforted. He was currently using the Gourmet path to temporarily assist Xueyin’s advancement. Even as a temporary aid, he could feel extremely solid Wish Power on Xueyin. This meant that when she advanced in the future she wouldn’t be affected by erosive interference. Even among many Hidden Power Secret Organizations full of talent and power, this was extremely rare.

The only thing to worry about was whether these gifts of unknown origin had made Xueyin prepay some sort of price.

Recently, Ma Liu had gone to the Gourmet Association several times, hoping to find some Gourmet solutions in the inheritance his teacher had passed down that could answer his questions. He’d tried several times, all ending in failure.

Ever since Mordo died, Philson seemed like a different person. No longer so taut, he’d gained a calm ease and clarity, and in daily life had become especially easy‑going.

Philson finally ate his fill and leaned back in his chair, watching Xueyin still fighting valiantly against the food. "Xueyin, how’s your condition now?"

Xueyin scooped a big spoonful of egg custard into her mouth. "Mm, this morning I already reached the Peak of Four Lives."

Philson frowned slightly. Even with his experience he felt this kind of inheritance was a bit outrageous. Then he heard Xueyin continue, "Teacher, you don’t need to worry. Divinity shouldn’t be a problem, but I haven’t confirmed my path yet, so I won’t be advancing to Five Lives for now. Brother Ma Liu and Auntie Kathy also told me to spend more time settling at Four Lives." Her words paused for a moment, then she added, "There’s still a whole lot of Wish Power Mordo Principal left inside the Celestial Principle Sword... I think the Celestial Principle Sword might become even more different."

Philson nodded and didn’t interfere. He glanced at Ma Liu. With a Gourmet Elder assisting her, what was there to worry about? Looking across the Dao Yuan Continent, treatment like this was hard to find.

Xueyin wiped her mouth. "Teacher, how’s that matter going? I worked on it for a long time."

Philson smiled. "Dragon Ridge says they’ve tracked down an Evil God stronghold of the Many-Faced God. They’re waiting for you to arrange things."

The aftermath of Dragon Capital’s calamity was still ongoing. Because of some little schemes the Potter Family was playing behind the scenes, the political situation was actually unstable. The Church Court had suffered too great a loss, and at the same time the rise of the Celestial Principle Sect in Dragon Capital was shaking the Church Court from within and making it contract inward. This had allowed some Evil Gods to fish in troubled waters and stretch their tentacles into Dragon Capital.

"Those bastards finally slipped up." Xueyin said excitedly.

The Many-Faced God Sect loved peeling human faces to make human‑skin masks. Once worn, they could change a person’s facial features and appearance, a bit like a full-face cover, but they couldn’t alter height or build—they only swapped faces. The sect members acted with extreme caution; the Night Patrol had surrounded and raided them multiple times but they always escaped, then launched sneak attacks in return. Among the Cult there were experts surpassing Four Lives, causing the Night Patrol tremendous trouble.

...

On the outskirts of Dragon Capital, at the West Mountain Coal Mine, the Night Patrol had already sealed off all routes. Seeing Xueyin arrive with a group of Celestial Principle Academy Scholars, they all let out a breath of relief.

"You didn’t tip them off, did you?" Xueyin asked.

"Nope." Dragon Ridge smiled and nodded. He already knew Xueyin’s style very well. Unlike the captain, who liked to use weakness to defeat strength, Xueyin preferred to use strength to bully the weak.

Xueyin didn’t stand on ceremony and took over command. This wasn’t her first mission. During this period, she’d been slaughtering her way across Dragon Capital, arranging missions with meticulous care and caution, handling emergencies with decisive ruthlessness, like a born Veteran Night Patrolman. Plus, as Li Xin’s younger sister, she had extremely high prestige among the Night Patrol.

"Little Martial Aunt, should I go?" Zhuang Zhidong asked softly.

As long as Xueyin went on a mission, he had to follow.

"Call me senior sister, how many times have I told you," Lin Xueyin said.

Right now the Celestial Principle Academy was actually quite short on high-end combat power. Philson, as the Stabilizing Needle of the Celestial Principle Academy, a Great Angel by promotion, would not easily make a move. At present, the only promoted Angel was Zhuang Zhidong. There were quite a few Scholars who had reached Four Lives, but perhaps because the Celestial Principle School’s foundation was still insufficient, they were all stuck at Four Lives, unable to advance.

"Senior sister, this Cult runs very deep. We should be more careful. It’s safer if I go in," Zhuang Zhidong said.

Xueyin waved her small hand. "They laid the groundwork for so long all for me. What’s the point of you going? My persona is impulsive and arrogant. I’ll take people in as bait. You and Captain Long set up the ambush. Brothers of the Night Patrol, act a bit more convincing. We’re going to get the biggest result at the smallest cost!"

What kind of brother, what kind of sister. Back in the Church Court days, the Night Patrol was forever cannon fodder, but ever since the main unit was formed, everything changed.

The battle broke out quickly. Xueyin charged the fastest. The Celestial Principle Sword was summoned, the Eye of Secret Gaze fully opened. Under the Celestial Principle Sect’s special Secret Technique, she could see wisps of black mist on those Evil God believers—resentment stained on them from killing. Kill!

Xueyin led a squad of Night Patrol deep into the base, killing with a single sword strike each time. She simply liked to be the one charging at the front.

Clang!

Finally, a curved, ghastly white Bone Sword blocked Xueyin’s slash. Two powerful auras appeared, accompanied by sinister, gleeful voices. At the same time, green smoke filled the space. The Night Patrol dropped in pain one after another, losing their combat ability.

Xueyin wrapped her entire body in Spiritual Ability. Within the green smoke were dense tiny insects. The Eye of Secret Gaze spun—Bent Angels!

The auras nearby... two Bent Angels?

"Little girl, finally caught you!" The two Bent Angels stepped out of the darkness, their bodies radiating immense pressure, like torches in the night.

"Just you two?" Xueyin tilted her head, looking down on the two Bent Angels.

"They say the little Saintess of the Celestial Principle School has a big temper and an even bigger mouth. Seeing you today, the reputation is well deserved. Here, your teacher can’t save you. He can’t even sense you. A mere Four Lives—there is only one path before you: convert to my Lord. You can become our Saintess. My Lord is about to descend. You can receive the favor of Divinity. That’s absolutely not something a mere Celestial Principle School can compare to." One middle-aged man, his whole body pitch black, face stiff like a corpse, said in a low voice.

"Otherwise, today we’ll peel off your face," the thin middle-aged man said with a smile.

"Oh?" Xueyin’s eyes rolled. "You lot are just a bunch of sleazy creeps playing with human skin. I really don’t see any future there."

"Heh, that’s just a cover. My Lord—" The middle-aged man said proudly, but was cut off by the short middle-aged man beside him.

"She’s fishing for information. Subdue her first, talk later. Hurry!"

"Junior brother, we’ve got two big fish here. Don’t let them run!" Xueyin shouted loudly.

"This area is off limits!" Zhuang Zhidong’s voice descended along with the majesty of an Angel.

"Hmph, an immature Angel who’s not good at fighting, and a Four Lives brat. Just you two?"

"Of course it’s not just us. Forgot to tell you, I’m a big fan of gang fights."

Dragon Ridge appeared, leading the Night Patrol and other Scholars...

"Look, you two Angels, us two Angels. That’s very fair!" Xueyin smiled and brought out her Celestial Principle Sword.

Dragon Ridge also revealed his true body as a Judgement Angel, but didn’t strike immediately.

The surrounding Night Patrol and Scholars finally revealed their true strength—every single one of them at Peak of Four Lives. Even those lying on the ground got up; they had camouflage cast on them by Celestial Principle Scholars.

The two Bent Angels’ faces finally changed drastically. This was aimed straight at them. In everyone’s eyes, these two Cult Bent Angels were walking, massive chunks of Wish Power. This Wish Power could very likely nurture a new Angel. As for who it would be?

The eyes of the Night Patrol and Scholars present were all burning with a scorching light.
