Chapter 829: Chapter 46

The Black Spade 3 of Shadow Owl has been fully formed, with some members from Dragon Capital, but mostly elite members drawn from Night Patrol across various regions. The information came from Kathy; these are observation lists, which have reached Four Lives or have exceptional talent and angelic traits. After selection, they have all entered Black Spade 3, led by Meng Po and Qi Badao.

Meng Po, as an Angel on the Life Master’s path, a veteran Night Patrol member, and the chief steward of Shadow Owl, has outstanding qualifications, strength, and reputation, serving as a benchmark for Night Patrol. Her disfiguring actions have added to her legend, and no one within Night Patrol dares to disobey her.

Qi Badao falls short in some aspects. As a trusted member of the squad, that certainly isn’t an issue, and everyone obeys orders. However, Qi Badao personally feels immense pressure, because a well-known truth even within the Black Spade team is that as a leader, if you don’t have the strength to command respect from your subordinates, you can’t keep them in line, and rebellion is just moments away.

Night Patrol is different. These seasoned warriors, proud and battle-hardened from across the nation, respect Qi Badao, but that respect isn’t for him personally; it’s because it’s the squad’s order.

Qi Badao himself feels unworthy and ill-fitting.

"Meng Po, perhaps I should just be an ordinary team member. We have several others with both experience and strength suitable for the deputy team leader position, or you could let Captain of Dragon Ridge choose someone from the team to take the role."

In recent operations, either Meng Po or Dragon Ridge led the team, and even the once-little Xueyin has become incredible. He feels like a failure.

In the office, Qi Badao said with a wry smile, "I feel a lot of pressure every day."

Meng Po looked calmly at Qi Badao, "Captain Qi, is someone disrespecting you?"

Within Night Patrol, executing orders is paramount, and anyone who dares break the rules is not tolerated. Black Spade 3 demands even higher standards, placing these aspects as a top priority.

Qi Badao waved his hand quickly; he knew Meng Po’s eyes tolerated no sand, and anyone who dares break the rules will face her fierce methods, "No, I’m trying my best to train hard, but I’ve just reached Three Lives, and you know my situation. It’s like being a Hex Bomb; you never know when it might explode, and I worry about dragging others down."

Ever since the last bloodthirsty awakening, although he rescued Li Xin, the worm inside him has become bloodthirsty, ready to lose control at any time. Kathy found a method in the Church Court to control it. Due to his bloodlust, Qi Badao’s power has skyrocketed, but the time was too short, so Qi Badao’s combat power still ranks low in Black Spade 3.

Meng Po looked at Qi Badao, extending two fingers, "Firstly, Black Spade 3 needs your wisdom and ability to handle matters, which none of us possess. Secondly, you have special potential; staying beside the squad for so long and surviving means you have great fortune; it’s just the timing isn’t right."

"Me, great fortune?" Qi Badao pointed at himself, smiling bitterly, "No need to comfort me; I know my own worth."

Meng Po looked at Qi Badao, "I’m a Life Master; I don’t comfort people. Think about what you’ve been through—who else could survive? Your survival itself is a miracle. I once made a prediction about whether you should take this position."

Qi Badao looked eagerly at Meng Po. An angel on the Life Master’s path makes a trustworthy prediction.

"Great luck." Meng Po said lightly.

Qi Badao was stunned for a moment, then broke into laughter, "Haha, whether you’re comforting me or not, I suddenly feel confident; alright, I’ll get going!"

After Qi Badao left, Meng Po sighed. She indeed made a prediction for Qi Badao; as an angel on the path of destiny, she could see many things not visible before, such as the fate thread connecting Qi Badao to the squad.

Such a fate torrent as the squad is dangerous once involved, especially with this connection, making Qi Badao’s fate unpredictable. However, with the experience of a Life Master, being swept into such a torrent is very risky.

No matter his fate, Qi Badao can only stay within Night Patrol.

Death is inevitable; Night Patrol cares little for this.

She saw another person connected by a fate thread—Zhuang Zhidong, who had silently advanced to angel within the Celestial Principle School, the first among Beijing people. The power of the path is manifesting, with recent battle performances extremely stunning.

This incredible phenomenon is beyond Meng Po’s understanding. From her current speculation, the squad hasn’t attached itself to another deity but is establishing its own Divine Hall. Night Patrol and Celestial Principle School are included, but clearly, they haven’t even reached the angel level, yet this happens. She couldn’t imagine it, but certain about one point—it’s the new path they want to take.

Of course, Meng Po doesn’t dare say anything to anyone; if the Church Court finds out about some powers or authority, it could cause big trouble.

Currently, the squad is in Divine Land, where Night Patrol also has secret agents executing long-term undercover missions. Due to their special nature, telegraph communications only open at specific times; otherwise, it’s all silent. Now, a new order has been issued.

Hopefully, they can establish contact with the squad soon and be of help in their actions in Divine Land.

Something’s wrong with the Moon God’s Court; regarding frequent mysterious events, they show a lack of response, more evidently than before.

Kathy, as the Secretary, is heading to the Shadowy Sea Area to execute a mission, meaning Night Patrol’s greatest pillar within the Church Court is missing, bringing great pressure to Meng Po and others. Luckily, Chen Rutang, the Grand Governor, is currently supporting Night Patrol.

On the vast sea, a fleet of twenty large ships approaches Moncalleta’s Hedan.

Estella stands at the ship’s bow, the sea breeze becoming warm, Dragon Capital far away; Hedan draws closer. Estella restores her original appearance, letting the sea breeze blow her long hair.

"Princess, it’s so comfortable to return to our territory, whereas Dragon Capital’s weather was unbearable. It’s a pity Elder Lan didn’t want to come back to Hedan with us," Celestia said regretfully; she tried many methods but to no avail.

"The Gourmet Association’s Elder makes such delicious food; having a bite is a gain." Estella laughed.

"Sigh, I wonder how Li Xin is doing. I heard from the Adventurer Association that he was ambushed by the creator, who’s ranked second in the Song of Hell, such a terrifying figure. Song of Hell is really hateful!" Celestia said through gritted teeth, wanting to talk tough but lacking confidence against such a dreadful Great Angel Level entity.

"Oh, worried?" Estella suddenly teased.

"What, me worried about him? No way, he doesn’t even like me—I’m certainly not worried, not at all!" Celestia said angrily, while pondering: what’s wrong with her, willing to compromise, but why doesn’t he like her? Was Christie better before—perhaps because... small?

"Too bad, I thought you wished to take a smaller role." Estella laughed.

Celestia’s big eyes rolled, "Princess, do you know where he is?"

"Can’t say specifics, but he’s very safe now," Estella replied, seeing Celestia looking relaxed though worried these past days, she couldn’t resist telling her.

Celestia visibly relaxed, as if shedding a heavy burden, "Haha, I knew it; a mere Great Angel is nothing. I predict Song of Hell will be settled by Li Xin eventually!"

"Oh, you already knew, then why worry?"

"I did not!" Celestia stiffly retorted, eyes lighting up, "... Ahem, how could I take a smaller role? He seems to favor those pale and large."

On the deck, the two women started to jest, laughter echoed over the sea; this trip to Dragon Capital was crucial for Estella. As Dragon Capital’s saying goes, reading ten thousand books is not as good as traveling ten thousand miles—knowledge must be tested in practice to achieve unity of knowledge and action. Life is free, vast; every problem has a solution rather than trapping oneself.

The world is very large, and Moncalleta can’t adhere to convention. She’s not entirely clueless about happenings in Hedan; problems and conflicts don’t vanish, and escape won’t solve them. Life becomes exciting by overcoming these conflicts repeatedly.

Celestia also sensed the Princess’s change; returning to Hedan wasn’t depressing or worrisome but rather carried a confident calm.

Honestly, she really feels the Princess is more capable than the current monarch; however, what the Princess will face upon returning remains unknown.
