Chapter 800: Chapter 17: Fierce Competition

"Captain Meng, there’s talk outside that the headquarters were ambushed by the Song of Hell, and their fate is unknown." A Night Patrol member asked, expressing everyone’s thoughts.

The attack couldn’t be concealed—witnessees saw it, and it involved Li Xin, spreading quickly.

After consulting Kathy the Secretary and probing around the Celestial Principle School, Meng Po found only the answer that they were alive, but no further information. There are many conditions of being alive, and she suspected it was a Great Angel who acted.

All the Night Patrol members fixed their eyes on Meng Po, whose silence added to their immense pressure. The Night Patrol had finally found a leader after all these years, giving them dignity and life. But just as they were thriving, he was ambushed. The Night Patrol knew the headquarters had an extraordinary background, and the attacker must be formidable. Over the years, any outstanding figure in the Night Patrol faced suppression from various forces.

Meng Po looked at them, "You may have heard some legends—I can tell you, they are true. Our leader clashed with the Earth Mother Goddess Pope Aovanti Du. The Bloodthirsty Monarch was so quickly defeated because our leader struck first, severely wounding him. If it were left to the beasts of the Church Court, Dragon Capital would have perished long ago. What can a mere Great Angel do against our leader? But remember, the leader’s identity must remain hidden. We need to grow."

Everyone nodded. Just as Meng Po was about to continue, her eyes suddenly changed. Mist appeared in the basement, and a giant figure emerged from the fog.

The Night Patrol members felt no fear, their eyes sharp as they prepared for battle in an instant, but Meng Po slowly withdrew her threads of fate, stopping them.

It was an Immortal.

The Immortal ignored the hostility, or rather, he didn’t care about anything with his Undying Body, the soul fire he burned with enveloping the entire place with a great pressure. Yet none of them reacted; Meng Po watched the Immortal alertly.

The Immortal slowly extended his hand, holding a letter on it.

Meng Po was slightly stunned and took the letter. Could it be from the headquarters?

The Immortal’s hand remained in the air as Qi Badao immediately approached and placed a Gold Lira on it. Zhuang Zhidong beside him stared wide-eyed. It was the first time he had seen the legendary Immortal.

Everyone focused on the letter in Meng Po’s hand; rumors spoke of an Immortal Messenger from the Secret Castle under the headquarters, to which even the Secret Castle must listen.

Meng Po opened the letter; her pupils, calm before, emitted a strong light. Holding the opened letter up to them, "It’s from the headquarters—he’s in the Holy Land Peak Pool, preparing for the next steps for the Night Patrol!"

Under the lights, pairs of eyes sparkled like torches, and the previously lifeless basement suddenly exploded with vibrant life force. All their eyes shone—they did not fear death, nor any challenge, but they dreaded not seeing hope.

Meng Po finally felt relieved, folding the letter, raising her right hand, "Justice forever!"

All Night Patrol members silently raised their hands in perfect synchrony as if they were one, "Justice forever."

The Immortal beside them also raised his massive right hand, awkwardly folding his fingers, and this moment was etched into the hearts of all present Night Patrol members...

Divine Land, Cyan Dragon City, Martial Heart Sect.

In just a few days, Li Xin had adapted to life here, living very comfortably. Fatty Nine and Idiot Zhu took care of all the work; he just had to show up when the Young Sect Master appeared and flatter him. At first, he thought the two might still try to ambush him, but surprisingly, nothing had happened in the last couple of days.

To familiarize himself with the environment, Li Xin accompanied Gan Jiu to buy food. Gan Jiu was especially enthusiastic, sharing everything he knew as if treating Li Xin like his own child, knowing all the affairs of Divine Land like the back of his hand.

"What, rented?" Li Xin was stunned; the peak occupied by the Martial Heart Sect was rented.

"If you have money, buy; if not, rent. It’s normal. Without Brother Cai’s support, the Martial Heart Sect would never get such a good place," Gan Jiu said.

Cai Qingfeng, the Sect Master’s suitor, or rather the most powerful suitor. After Martial Heart Sect’s fall, disciples with some background or talent switched allegiance; yet, Cai Qingfeng, blessed with talent, strength, and wealth, resolutely stayed.

"The Cai Family and the Fang Family are old friends. Actually, the Cai Family was affected by the betrayal back then but managed well, remaining affluent. Many Cultivation Families are richer than sects, but in my view, it’s all due to Brother Qingfeng’s fondness for our Sect Master." Gan Jiu said.

"Are you saying Huo Dalong has connections with the Cai Family?"

"Yes, he’s the Cai Family’s son-in-law," Gan Jiu laughed. "Back then, those two were luminaries, but they caused great harm to both families."

The former Chief... a son-in-law?

Their stage names are rather grand—a Grand Hall Master of the Hundred Martial Hall and a former Chief Red-robed Archbishop. Their name change might stem from guilt.

Initially, it seemed Old Fang dared not return to Li Long for fear of being targeted by the Moon God’s Court; now it appears the reasons are quite complex.

"Fatty Nine, how do you know so many secrets?" Li Xin suddenly asked.

Gan Jiu’s chubby face froze for a moment, "Rumors, just rumors. You know the two main interests of a fatty: eating and gossiping."

Li Xin chuckled without pressing further. He didn’t want to meddle with those two for now, but he owed Fang Qingning for saving his life. Helping out Martial Heart Sect was a must. Since arriving in the Dao Yuan Continent, this was the most opulent situation he’d ever encountered, and the laws here were particularly favorable to him.

Gan Jiu carried all the purchased food back to the sect and began preparing meals. Divine Land’s food was unique—the top-tier, expensive items were Divine Land’s grains, infused with a trace of Spiritual Ability, quite peculiar and unobtainable outside. Cultivators consumed them, and the second-tier items came from outside, as Divine Land did engage in trade, albeit not openly.

In Divine Land, competition was most intense in Cyan Dragon City and the surrounding twenty-seven paths. Hundreds of sects coexisted with many cultivation families, each possessing exceptional skills and yearning for advancement. Yet, only thirty-six Yellow Level qualifications were available, divided among other cities, so remaining sects fiercely competed. Fang Qingning adhered to the Fang Family’s ancestral instructions to lead Martial Heart Sect back to Earth Level; stepping back to Earth Level first required reaching Yellow Level. The previous Sect Master was meant to undertake this task but perished during a mission, leaving the heavy responsibility to Fang Qingning.

It’s hard to say—Li Xin had observed the sect disciples’ conditions, and though he didn’t know about other sects, he sensed this place lacked competitiveness.
