Chapter 797: Chapter 14: Wish Crystal

Upon hearing about the curse, everyone was taken aback. Such power from the old era posed a tremendous threat to humanity, especially at the level of the Five Great Sanctuaries; it must be quite significant.

"Thank you, Mr. Cancer. By the way, have there been any leads on the previous owner of the Wish Book?" Li Xin asked, since now that they had reached the Golden Sea area, the Wish Book was a matter that couldn’t be avoided, and he was very interested in it.

"It’s not that easy to find, but the Wish Book is indeed set to appear in the Golden Sea," Christian said.

Everyone present was invigorated; hearing it from Mr. Cancer’s mouth added a lot of certainty.

"Over by the Netherworld Sea, the struggle for the Wish Crystal is about to get intensely fierce; pirates, major empires, and secret organizations are all vying for it," Cantona said with a wry smile.

"Did you get the Wish Crystal?" Christian asked.

"Not yet, but there are some leads."

"If we get the Wish Crystal, we could get involved," Christian suggested.

"What is the Wish Crystal?" Estella asked curiously.

"Miss Aries, the Wish Crystal is an overflow of the power from the Wish Book. In the old era, it was also called the Wishing Crystal. It has two uses: one is that, after a certain period, it can indicate the coordinates of the Wish Book; the other is less certain, but it is said that when the Wish Book appears, it can also grant a small wish, although it wouldn’t be very stable," Christian explained gently.

Everyone was taken aback by this information. Cantona and Simmons had been roaming the seas for some time, yet they hadn’t obtained this intelligence. Someone must know about it, but it is extremely secretive, and Cantona even suspected that the Death Church had definitely hidden it.

The Wish Book is something one might encounter only by chance, but if it’s possible to exchange for a small wish from the Wish Crystal at a lesser cost, it would be a great opportunity.

Estella was also tempted. She had never considered the Wish Book, but if she could get the Wish Crystal, she had a wish as well.

Due to the joining of new members, the overall time was shortened, and Miss Aries minimized her share time while introducing a method for Mr. Sagittarius to contact her independently.

"Next is trading time," Estella announced.

"I have some matters to discuss with Mr. Taurus," Simmons said.

"Alright then, everyone, see you next time," Estella said.

"See you next time, Miss Aries."

"See you next time, everyone."

Everyone leaned back into their high-backed chairs and left the Twelve Zodiac Star Disc. Alain glanced at the position from which Mr. Gemini had left, leaned back, and exited the Star Disc, leaving the personal space for Mr. Taurus and Mr. Libra’s transaction.

With his soul returned, Alain opened his large eyes. His daily routine was to deliver meals to Lin Fei, Kathy, and Xueyin. Those three couldn’t eat properly without his food, yet they were still lost in their cultivation. He was deliberately suppressing his powers; otherwise, he would have advanced to become an Angel. But to recklessly acquire such power without understanding his own heart, he believed, was merely repeating past failures.

Brother Li had once said that dark cuisine was a means and could have significant benefits if used along the right path. Yet, he had never been able to comprehend it. In reality, some powers inherently have a bit of an evil nature, and they subconsciously amplify desires and greed. If one can’t control it, using it recklessly can lead one astray. His master could fully control it, and he was just a touch of spirit away from advancing. He dared not be hasty; once he advanced too soon, the difficulty of turning back would only increase.

The new era didn’t matter to him. He wished to tread a new path, a path belonging to the Gourmet Association. This was his duty and his master’s legacy.

In Dragon Capital, he felt a vibe completely different from other cities. It carried a sense of newness amidst the busyness and suppression, like saplings on barren land awaiting a spring rain to thrive. The hidden power within was precisely what Alain longed for, but how could he acquire it?

Gourmet needed inspiration. Every day, he wandered around Dragon Capital, seeking hope. He felt very close, yet just a paper-thin barrier away.

As for the Round Table Conference, he didn’t pay much attention. As an elder of an ancient secret organization, its biggest role was to facilitate contact with Brother Li.

It seemed Brother Li was up to something big again. If needed, he would certainly call on him, and in the meantime, Alain would prepare the meals so Brother Li would have no worries. Behind every great deity, there must be a good cook.

With these thoughts, Alain happily fell asleep, knowing he must rise early for breakfast—an important start to the day.

At this moment, in the night of Dragon Capital, the red moon was gradually obscured by clouds. In the North District’s street blocks, a scream erupted from a house but was soon stifled. A black, gaping underground passage led downward to a vast subterranean tunnel.

This was the headquarters of the Longevity Sect.

The Night Patrol had been tracing this cult for some time, unaware that it was hiding within the residential area of the North District. Residents of several nearby blocks had already been controlled by the Longevity Sect, yet the Night Patrol managed to capture a clue.

A fierce battle raged in the underground tunnels. The cult’s upper echelon was all present. The arrival of the Bloodthirsty Monarch made the hidden powers of Dragon Capital even more active. They were prepared to conduct a blood sacrament on a large scale, not expecting a team from the Night Patrol to break in, resulting in a fierce clash with heavy casualties.

This was a small team from the North District’s Dark Falcon. They thought they had discovered a cult’s den, only to find it was the home base. Hundreds of believers surrounded them, leaving only three members of Dark Falcon alive, all injured.

The Sect Hierarch of the Longevity Sect, viewing the dead and wounded disciples, wore a ferocious expression - they were all his devoted followers. "Flay them alive for me!"

The three remaining members of the Night Patrol were covered in wounds, their faces void of color. The problem wasn’t merely the enemy’s numbers; the cult’s Sect Hierarch was a Bent Angel.

Captain Ma Zhao, a Four Lives, though desperately resisting, found it all in vain. A smile appeared on his face nonetheless, "The time has come. Let’s be brothers in the next life."

With these words, he drew his knife horizontally, "Beneath the moonlit night, justice remains forever!"

"Beneath the moonlit night, justice remains forever!" the two remaining members of the Night Patrol echoed in a low voice.

The sound, like a magical chant, was filled with power and fearlessness, causing their depleted Spiritual Ability to surge suddenly.

"Spread out, they’re going all out, wear them down, avoid a frontal assault," yelled the Sect Hierarch of the Longevity Sect.

These maniacs, pure cultists, cared not for their lives. At least these cultists fought for themselves – what were those guys fighting for!

The three Night Patrol members charged at the Sect Hierarch like hungry tigers. The Hierarch grinned sinisterly and disappeared with ghostly speed, reappearing on the right side, "They’re burning their life force, they won’t last a few minutes, play around with them, they’ll be finished soon... ah."

Suddenly, in the dimness, strands of bright silk appeared. The Sect Hierarch found his body splitting open, followed by countless strands enveloping the underground cavern. In the darkness, Meng Po emerged.

Powerful Spiritual Ability surged from the Sect Hierarch’s body, as muscles rippled, trying to heal the wounds. But the gleaming strands, as sharp as blades, easily sliced through resilient flesh, "You’re... an Angel... how can this be..."

Night Patrol never had an Angel; it was common knowledge.

The three Night Patrol members, upon seeing Meng Po appear, felt their strength drain instantly. Two team members lost consciousness immediately, leaving only Captain Ma Zhao conscious, "Meng Yinxiao, take care of our families for us."

Meng Po’s fierce face remained impassive, as strands held their bodies upright. Meanwhile, the other ends of the strands pierced into the bodies of the cultists attempting to escape. The cavern filled with screams as life forces were drawn along the strands, transferred into the bodies of Ma Zhao and the others.

"You won’t die."
