Chapter 789: Chapter 6: The Golden Scale Guard’s Plan

It might have been under Lang Beichen’s orders, as the Golden Scale Guard staff patiently explained the rules of the Divine Land to him, "The State Lord is the highest leader in our Divine Land. Since you’re from Dragon Capital, it’s relatively straightforward, and not much different from our rules. Because you are an Awakened, these 200 Lira are given to you as a housing allowance. In the Divine Land, all Awakened must have a sect as their backing. Your sect, Captain Lang said, is the Martial Heart Sect, so I’ve registered you with it."

Saying this, the middle-aged staff member handed Li Xin an identity card.

"This card is also your identity certification, so you need to carry it with you at all times."

"Sir, may I ask, where is the Martial Heart Sect located, and what level does it hold in the Divine Land?" Li Xin politely asked, casually slipping a hundred Lira to the other party.

The middle-aged man pushed it back, but there was a smile on his stern face. "The Martial Heart Sect is a very excellent sect, good at sword cultivation and body cultivation."

Leaving the Golden Scale Guard, Li Xin stood on the bustling street, surrounded by the lively cries of vendors. The sun was shining brightly, and it was hot, feeling about thirty degrees, causing him to break a sweat soon. He was still wearing the torn Night Patrol robe, which was made of thick fabric, making it a bit hot even with the holes.

The Golden Scale Guard building was quite grand, with two imposing white jade-carved qilins at the entrance, glaring fiercely.

Li Xin’s stomach growled. The Divine Land used Lira too, and other than not being able to leave, there weren’t too many differences. He decided to find a place to fill his stomach first.

Upstairs in the Golden Scale Guard building, Lang Beichen was watching Li Xin leave motionlessly.

The power to move across thousands of miles is no small feat. Li Xin’s entry into the Divine Land was made possible by an ancient talisman from the Ancient Dragon Race, which are extremely rare. Only a limited number of people could end up outside the Divine Land, and from Li Xin’s recent inquiries, it was evident that the other party was hiding something, though, his clothes indeed belonged to a Night Patrol member.

If he were a Night Patrol member from Dragon Capital, he would most likely have been in contact with Lord Qinglong. The other alternative would be Zhuo Buquan, the ’traitor’ from many years ago, an event so long in the past that only a few still remembered it, leaving room only for ancient remnants as another possibility.

Lord Qinglong went to Dragon Capital as a Peak Pool Envoy, an ancient mission with deep roots, so it’s unlikely that such a precious talisman would be given to an ordinary Night Patrol member. By observing the situation, he shouldn’t be at the Fourth Grade yet, corresponding to the Divine Relic Fourth Life from beyond the land, making Zhuo Buquan a more likely candidate.

If it were Zhuo Buquan, this precious talisman could be life-saving for a Sixth Grade expert—how could he give it away so easily?

Zhuo Buquan and Huo Dalong were once disciples of the Celestial Destiny Sect. Their departure shook the Divine Land to its core, and time has passed. Were it not something special, Fang Qingning wouldn’t have been called. Yet, Fang Qingning, unaware as always, had already taken out their only Guiyuan Pill.

He also had no authority to view the detailed dossiers on the betrayal from those years, as Li Xin, a Night Patrol member not yet reaching Fourth Grade, primarily seemed very righteous. This matter had to wait for Lord Qinglong’s return to decide further.

Li Xin stood on the street, feeling the atmosphere around him. Although the people nearby had the appearance of the Beijing people, there was still a vast difference in temperament. Dragon Capital was busy and struggling, while the people here were enthusiastic and confident, momentarily giving Li Xin an illusion of being in Paradise.

Gurgle, gurgle...

The protesting sound of Li Xin’s stomach arose from intense hunger, prompting him to find a decent-looking noodle shop nearby to sit down.

"Boss, a big bowl of noodles, please!"

"Alright, young brother, sit anywhere."

The boss enthusiastically started preparing the noodles for Li Xin, while Li Xin sorted out the information about the Divine Land in his mind. In Hedan, he had heard some rumors about the Golden Sea. The Golden Sea, located south of Moncalleta, had the famous Shadowy Sea Area in its southeast.

The Golden Sea nurtured the Moncalleta Kingdom, Mosel Kingdom, and many other island nations. Among them existed a highly unique place, somewhere even a flourishing Moncalleta Kingdom was forced to retreat from—the Divine Land.

The people of the Golden Sea referred to it as the Sea King’s realm.

The Divine Land was situated in a secret place in the middle of the Golden Sea, reportedly only accessible when encountering thick fog at sea. The inhabitants there were mysterious, believed to worship the Sea King, one of the three great Sea Lords, possessing the ability to survive in the sea and control the weather, though unlike the Queen of Calamity’s fishman transformation, they did not develop fishman-like gills or other features. In its heyday, Moncalleta dispatched a formidable fleet to conquer it; the Earth Mother Goddess Court even sent two Red-robed Archbishops to oversee it, resulting in one of them perishing, and the fleet suffering heavy casualties, establishing the Divine Land’s unique status in the Golden Sea.

The sea’s people regarded them as one of the three great Sea Gods.

Currently, from what Li Xin observed, they don’t seem to worship any Sea King, but there are various sects. This intrigued Li Xin, for upon entering the Dao Yuan Continent, most of the hidden powers he encountered were related to the Seven Gods or some Old Gods, resembling Western deities from his past life, while he rarely heard of Eastern deities. However, his Nine-character True Words held a very unique power, indicating it aligned with the Dao Yuan Continent’s laws.

Thinking he was a unique traveler, yet with Miss Aries’s reminder, he saw the Nine-character True Words in the Twelve Zodiac Star Disc, making Li Xin ponder if other deities from the Old Epoch existed.

Why did they vanish?

"Young brother, here’s my special braised pork in a big bowl of noodles, 2 Lira. You can get more noodles if it’s not enough."

Li Xin paid, the fragrant noodles whetting his appetite, he ate while giving a thumbs up.

With that gesture, the boss eagerly sat across from him, "Young man, you’re from outside, right?"

Li Xin smiled and nodded, "Is it that obvious?"

"Of course! You look bewildered. Haha, I came from outside when I was young, sailed from Celestial Capital, hit by a hurricane and ended up here, later settling down and living off this skill," the boss mused.

"Really, boss? I’m from Celestial Capital too, wow, a fellow townsman!"

Upon hearing Li Xin was from Celestial Capital, the boss’s eyes reddened, emotions surging, "It’s been many years, what’s Celestial Capital like now?"

Li Xin recounted to the boss, Zhang Yuncai, the changes in Celestial Capital over the years, not hiding that he originated from the Underground City, to which the boss nodded frequently, "Celestial Capital is tough. I considered this back then and chose to stay. Although life is ordinary, it’s fulfilling. Now I have a wife and kids. No more thinking about it."

"Can’t you go back?" Li Xin curiously asked.

Old Zhang glanced around, then whispered, "No, it’s the rule of the Divine Land. Only those from the Celestial Destiny Sect or who receive the State Lord’s permission can leave, otherwise, there’s a risk of death."
