Chapter 158: Chapter 126: Demon Origin

Demon Aura is a power born from the mixture of annihilated souls, a Demon’s Consciousness, and its Spirituality.

It is also a power capable of corrupting one’s Spirituality, but the curious part is that it only affects a living being once they can sense its presence.

Ordinary people perceive the World primarily through their physical senses, and the caliber of their Soul is higher than that of a Low Position Demon. So, incredible as it may sound, a Low Position Demon is generally unable to Enchant them.

By the same token, however, they also can’t identify Demons.

Apprentices and Transcendents, on the other hand, have active Spirituality, making it easy for them to sense the Demon Aura and fall under its influence.

Generally speaking, as long as the exposure is brief or the power gap isn’t too great, this influence is minimal.

But if a Demon targets you directly, or if the power gap is too vast, then it’s a different story entirely.

···

"Seventeen years ago, I heard rumors about Demon Island and came here."

"I was fortunate. I not only collected some Demon Aura but also became a player."

"Or rather, it was precisely because I became a player that I was able to collect Demon Aura."

"That’s because the Demon codenamed [King] was able to spread its Demon Aura to the players through the King’s Game."

"It would use the power of the King’s Game to influence ordinary humans, and its own Demon Aura to Enchant the players."

"In this way, Gutaf could completely secure his throne."

"It was an intricate, interlocking system, all part of Gutaf’s design from the moment he created the game."

"Unfortunately, his plan couldn’t withstand outside interference. The [King] Demon had only just been born and was still very weak, its power of Enchantment limited. That’s why the bloody coup was able to happen."

"Starting in the third round of the game, another devouring power arose, causing the Cards to undergo an Anomaly. The Demon Aura released by the King was then directly Devoured by the Cards, so players were naturally no longer affected by the Demon’s Enchantment."

"If things had continued to evolve, that devouring power might have broken free from the bonds of order entirely and Devoured everything."

"But somehow, the two forces struck a balance once more, even fusing deeply. That’s when the King’s Game entered its combat mode, and the Cards’ Devouring and fusion abilities themselves became a form of order."

"After the game updated, although the King could still spread his Demon Aura through the game, the effect was negligible due to the insulation provided by the anomalous Cards."

"This is why Order Keepers are so difficult for Demons to Enchant."

"I took advantage of this situation to easily obtain Demon Aura, complete my Spirit Awakening, and become a true Demon Hunter."

"After that, to hunt the Demon known as King, I had no choice but to take the path of Card fusion."

"Once you become a Traitor, it’s impossible to completely eliminate the conflict between your Cards unless you can construct an Apostle Armament."

"With conflict inside the Cards, they naturally can no longer insulate you from the Demon Aura. This is also why Traitors are so easily Enchanted by Demons."

"But I’m different. My Spirit Awakening, which I performed using Demon Aura, grants me a powerful resistance."

"This is also why we Demon Hunters dare to hunt Demons. We can even help others purge the influence of Demon Aura."

Yuwen Yong quietly recalled the past. The turmoil in the Royal Palace was growing increasingly violent.

’If the King doesn’t reveal himself soon, this turmoil will continue until a new balance is struck.’

’That could take a very, very long time. During that period, the game would be completely shut down, and the players’ Cards would lose their Superpowers.’

’Only the King, Gutaf, could swiftly quell all of this.’
