Chapter 124 -109: New Law

“I want to leave the King’s Game.”

Inside the ancient metal fortress, Chen Qi summoned the bronze dice and began testing his Wishes.

“Insufficient points!”

The bronze dice were quite obliging, giving Chen Qi a clear response.

‘Sigh, so it’s impossible after all?’

In truth, Chen Qi had a vague idea of the answer even before he started the test.

The various abilities displayed by the King’s Game, and the scope it covered, were simply not something that could be accomplished with a Wish worth 8 points.

But Chen Qi still held onto a sliver of hope. He just wanted to leave the game, not end it.

Yet, even that was impossible.

“I want to completely possess the Card.”

Suppressing his disappointment, Chen Qi continued with the next test.

However, the response was still, “Insufficient points.”

‘This can’t help but surprise me. Does the essence of a single Card exceed 8 points?’

‘In that case, just how high must the value of the King’s Game’s true form be?’

“I want to take away the Red Heart 7’s ability.”

Unwilling to give up, Chen Qi continued testing. The response was once again, “Insufficient points.”

This led Chen Qi to a conclusion: ‘Could it be that all Wishes affecting the game have already surpassed the maximum value of 8 points?’

To verify this theory, Chen Qi spent a full three hours testing, nearly burning out his brain cells.

The truth was just as he had suspected. His 8-point wish was completely insufficient to contend with the power of the game.

He couldn’t even wish to leave the Lanyu Kingdom alive.

In other words, unless Chen Qi could clear the game, he could neither leave the Lanyu Kingdom alive nor escape the game itself.

Of course, if Chen Qi rolled 15 points or more next time, he might be able to fulfill all his previous wishes. At the very least, he could definitely leave the Lanyu Kingdom alive.

‘Looks like I’ll have to give up on the idea of having the Source Ore Devour the Red Heart 7.’

‘Even if I made a Wish, it would be impossible.’

‘But I can still skim some benefits from the Superpower.’

‘The Card’s ability can’t be stripped away or seized, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be learned. The Puppet Threads are just a manifestation of the ability. Taking a few bites should be fine, as it won’t touch the Root of the ability anyway.’

‘This way, the plan for the Source Ore to Devour those ten giant purple metal serpents is feasible!’

‘Of course, I still need to make the necessary preparations.’

The main purpose of Chen Qi’s Wish test this time was to gather all sorts of information about the Card.

Both the Card and the Source Ore were crucial to him at his current stage.

How could he dare let one Devour the other without making thorough preparations?

If he hadn’t discovered through testing that the Card’s essence was of a very high level, he might have given in to greed. If he had rashly tried to have the Source Ore Devour the Card itself, or even seize the Root of its ability, what awaited him would have certainly been a disastrous failure with heavy losses.

This could be considered the latest use for the bronze dice that Chen Qi had figured out.

Using the 8-point wish value as a benchmark, he could gauge a great deal of information.

Only three wishes could be granted for free, but if someone just naively used the bronze dice to make wishes, they must be very foolish.

For Chen Qi, as long as the bronze dice existed, they offered him numerous benefits.

He had to squeeze as much value out of the bronze dice as possible within the limited time he possessed them.

Of course, holding off on making a Wish was not without its drawbacks.

For instance, Chen Qi’s 4-point video viewing privilege had already been revoked.

Unless Chen Qi completed his second Wish, he definitely wouldn’t be able to watch those short videos anymore.

…

‘The next thing I need to do is wait for the Source Ore to fully recover the Energy it consumed.’

‘After that, I’ll use the entire mining area’s Matter Fields as material to lay down a grand formation, assisting the Source Ore in its Devouring.’

‘If I don’t give it a cheat, this little thing really won’t be able to pull off the feat of a snake swallowing an elephant.’

Using the Source Ore to manipulate the Matter Fields of the entire mining area naturally consumed Energy—Spiritual Energy, to be precise.

However, this consumption was borne by the Source Ore itself. Chen Qi was only responsible for giving commands.

As a life form with Spirituality, the Source Ore could, of course, capture Spiritual Energy on its own.

In fact, because of its special ability to Assimilate the Matter Fields of the entire mining area, its efficiency at capturing Spiritual Energy far surpassed that of a Transcendent.

This was also why Chen Qi had tried every possible means to restore the Source Ore—because he could obtain Spiritual Energy through it.

Unlike the incredibly stingy and ruthlessly fickle Card, once Chen Qi had complete control over the Source Ore, he could still borrow Spiritual Energy from it as long as he coaxed it enough.

You must understand, up to this moment, Chen Qi had not been able to capture even a single point of Spiritual Energy.

Well, it wasn’t that he had failed to capture it, but that he simply couldn’t capture it at all.

According to the records of the Earth Master’s legacy, capturing Spiritual Energy was an instinct for beings with Spirituality, as natural as eating and drinking.

Since he couldn’t capture it, it meant his Spirituality’s frequency was too low and his strength was insufficient.

Although there were Secret Techniques that allowed a Transcendent with insufficient strength to forcibly capture Spiritual Energy, that was tantamount to “courting death.”

Herbivores know which plants are edible and which are not; this is an instinct.

Similarly, Spirituality also instinctively knows which type of Spiritual Energy it should absorb and which types to avoid.

Spiritual Energy is just a general term; it encompasses hundreds of millions of different types.

There is a branch of Earth Masters who believe that the number of types of Spiritual Energy depends on the number of living beings in the world.

As many lives as there are in the world, so too are there types of Spiritual Energy.

It was rumored that this branch had come into contact with the [Earth Mother Scripture], which is why this belief became widespread among Earth Masters.
