Chapter 105: Chapter 101: Red Falcon King

A rumor recently began to circulate within the wealthy circles of Talin City.

A certain Executor from the Kingdom had arrived in Talin City and begun his inspection.

So, in a rare display of unity, everyone from high-society celebrities to low-life gangsters was on their best behavior, afraid of getting on the wrong side of the esteemed Executor.

’Is all this really necessary?’

’It’s not like I was planning to lay all my cards on the table and stop acting like a normal rich guy around you all!’

’I can’t believe the Kingdom Central Intelligence Agency is as leaky as a sieve. Taruno only contacted them once, and my whereabouts have already been exposed.’

In the CEO’s office of Chris Tower.

Chen Qi had just finished a call with a wealthy friend and could barely keep himself from laughing out loud.

These baseless rumors were getting way too out of hand.

Speculation was rampant, with people claiming the Executor was here to bust smuggling rings and wipe out the gangs that had infested Talin City for years.

A few of the tycoons were already planning to jointly petition for an award for the Executor and arrange a celebration banquet.

The purpose of the call Chen Qi just received was to get him to join in and chip in.

He wondered if those guys would want to bash their heads against the pavement when they finally learned the truth.

...

"Boss, I never expected the leak to come from the Kingdom Central Intelligence Agency."

"I only coordinated with them once. I can’t believe the news has already made its way back here."

Taruno looked miserable, afraid he would lose his boss’s trust for having messed things up.

He truly hadn’t expected the tycoons of Talin City to be so resourceful, nor had he thought the Kingdom’s CIA would be so unreliable.

"It’s not entirely your fault. The Lanyu Kingdom isn’t that big—thirty million people at most."

"You could probably throw a few bricks and hit a friend of your friend’s distant relative."

"The circles get even smaller when you reach the upper echelons of the Kingdom."

"Don’t underestimate the tycoons here in Talin City. They’re among the top 10 donors to the former Prime Minister’s party."

"The Kingdom CIA knows what’s what. Just let this bunch in Talin City overthink things and guess for a while."

Chen Qi felt his life in Talin City was quite good. There weren’t any clueless fools who needed him to show off and put them in their place.

So, while he had no intention of revealing himself as the Executor, he wasn’t going to clarify these ridiculous rumors either.

’It’s good if it makes them behave for a while.’

Ever since the Dog of Death stopped coming to Talin City, the homicide rate had skyrocketed. It was about time those guys at the police department got busy.

Chen Qi did a quick mental calculation. If his original ambition had been to become the police chief, he’d probably have climbed to the rank of deputy chief by now.

’Choices really do matter more than effort. It’s better to be a player.’

...

"Boss, we’ve caught the Red Falcon King you wanted."

"To catch this thing, we staked out a cliff for three whole days and nights."

"The little guy is just as fast as the legends say. If we hadn’t used a tranquilizer, we never would have caught it."

Back in the office, not only was Taruno present, but the five members of the Hummingbird Squad had also returned.

The five of them, travel-worn and dusty, carried a birdcage with extreme care.

Leiteri shot a smug glance at Taruno. ’Sooner or later, the boss will realize that we, the Hummingbird Squad, are the reliable ones.’

"So this is the Red Falcon King?"

"Not bad. You did a good job."

Chen Qi took the birdcage and lifted the black cloth covering it.

Inside, he saw a small, red, fist-sized bird fast asleep in the cage.

’Looks like the Hummingbird Squad’s tranquilizer is good quality. The little guy is sleeping soundly.’

"Xiaohong, wake up! Time to eat!"

Chen Qi casually opened the cage and scooped out the Red Falcon King.

Perhaps because Chen Qi’s palm was so comfortable, the creature actually turned over contentedly and continued to lie there like a log.

"Boss, be careful! That thing is incredibly fast and vicious."

"In ancient times, many pirates had their eyes pecked out by Red Falcons."

"The tranquilizer should be wearing off soon. It could wake up at any moment."

Although he knew his boss was no ordinary person, Leiteri couldn’t help but give a warning.

The speed of this Red Falcon King had truly left him with a lingering sense of fear.

Leiteri had never imagined such a tiny creature could hunt birds more than ten times its size.

When the Red Falcon King flew at full speed, it was like a supersonic scalpel. The sonic booms it generated could tear through any flesh and blood.

Much of the time, the little creature’s so-called "hunting" wasn’t for food, but purely for the pleasure of killing.

Leiteri had personally witnessed it slaughter over 300 seagulls in under a minute.

No wonder the pirates of old favored this creature; it was a natural-born killing machine.

The soft, adorable appearance it had now was all an illusion.

...

’It’s that vicious?’

’Suddenly, the name "Xiaohong" doesn’t seem to fit anymore!’

"Wake up!"

Chen Qi stroked the Red Falcon King’s little head with his index finger. The creature looked a lot like a petrel, except for a single tuft of hair on its head that was as red as blood.

Perhaps because its cowlick was touched, the Red Falcon King stirred drowsily and stood up in Chen Qi’s palm.

At first, the Red Falcon King was still a bit dazed. It stared blankly at Chen Qi for a few seconds.

Then, Chen Qi saw the little creature tilt its head and look at him with a goofy, cute expression.

It looked almost unbearably cute!

But in the next instant, an incomparably ferocious and tyrannical aura erupted from the Red Falcon King.
