Chapter 341: Pregnant???
Chapter 341: Pregnant???
Maria stared, visibly disturbed. “So you’re saying… you’d allow your husband to take other wives?”
Sofia didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she turned her head slightly, her gaze shifting.. slowly, deliberately until it settled on Razeal.
“If he is capable enough,” she said. “That is the only question.” Her eyes lingered on him, assessing, weighing, as if measuring something far deeper than strength. “But is he?”
Razeal had remained silent throughout the exchange, his expression unreadable, crimson eyes calm, observant. He neither reacted nor flinched, simply allowing her gaze to rest on him without resistance.
But
Something in his eyes made Sofia smile.
She stepped forward, closing the distance between them with unhurried confidence. The world around them seemed to dull slightly as she came to a stop directly in front of him. Lifting one finger, she traced it slowly.. deliberately down the line of his face, from above his brow to his jaw, the touch light, intimate, unmistakably provocative.
“Don’t worry, husband~” she murmured, her voice low, playful, dangerous. “I’m not that easy to win over. And I don’t prefer harems.” Her lips curved upward as she leaned closer, close enough that only inches separated them. “But that also… depends on your performance. Try not to disappoint me.”
Maria snapped.
“What husband?” she cut in sharply, stepping forward and forcefully placing herself between them, shoving Sofia back with a scowl. “You may have accepted this, but that doesn’t mean he has. You’ve been around us long enough.. do you really think he’s interested in women at all?” Her eyes narrowed, protective, almost angry. “He’s going to reject this. So back off.”
Sofia blinked, surprised, her balance steadying as she looked at Maria with narrowed eyes. The air between them tightened..
But then a voice spoke from behind Maria.
“I’ve already accepted.”
The words were calm and firm.
And maria suddenly froze.
Sofia’s eyes raised slightly as she turned, looking past Maria to Razeal. For the first time since the declaration, genuine surprise crossed her face. Then.. slowly her expression softened. Her blue eyes curved into crescent moons, radiant and bright as they locked onto his crimson gaze.
“That’s good,” she said quietly, warmth flooding her voice.
“You what…?”
Maria’s voice came out strained, almost breathless. She snapped her head back so fast it felt like her neck might crack, eyes widening as they locked onto Razeal. Shock flooded her face openly, without restraint.. confusion, disbelief, and something far more complicated tangled together in her expression. For a moment, she just stared at him, as if waiting for him to take the words back, to say it was a mistake, a joke, anything.
But Razeal didn’t.
He stood there calmly, his posture relaxed, his crimson eyes steady, offering no explanation and no retreat. That silence alone was louder than any confirmation.
Before Maria could find her voice again before the storm of questions boiling in her chest could spill out..
“Sofia. Come here.”
King Julius’s voice thundered through the stadium once more, powerful enough to shake the air itself. The sound rolled across the colosseum like a crashing wave, snapping everyone out of the private tension brewing between them. Conversations died mid-breath. Eyes lifted. The entire coloessium refocused in an instant.
“It’s time for the announcement regarding the first prize.”
The words struck with weight.
Sofia exhaled softly, her shoulders lowering just a fraction. “Well,” she murmured, already turning, “seems like we’ve got a problem.”
She glanced back at Razeal briefly, her expression composed but sharp, already calculating. “But don’t worry. I’ll try talking him out of it.” She sounded certain.. too certain for someone who didn’t know how this would go.
She began walking toward the arena floor where her father now stood, her steps unhurried, controlled. As she moved, her gaze flicked briefly toward the woman King Julius had just acknowledged as his mother. Martha was already stepping away from the center, wiping her tears with trembling hands.. but the smile on her face was unmistakably bright, peaceful and fulfilled.
Sofia watched her for half a second longer than necessary, then looked away.
“Yes. I’m here, Father,” Sofia said as she came to a stop before him, preparing to speak
But King Julius raised a single hand.
And fhe gesture was.. Absolute.
As Sofia froze mid-sentence, biting back whatever she had been about to say.
King Julius straightened fully, lifting his chin, his presence expanding until it felt as though the sea itself stood behind him. He turned his gaze outward.. past his daughter, past the arena floor to the countless spectators filling the colosseum. Every floating screen shifted to frame his image. Every sound faded.
“To the people of Atlantis,” he began, his voice carrying effortlessly to every corner of the stadium. “To my brothers. My sisters. My elders. And to the young ones who will inherit this sea.”
The weight in his tone tightened the air.
“I have an announcement to make regarding the winner of the Royal Competition.”
A pause followed.. long enough to build tension, short enough to feel deliberate.
“First,” he continued, “I must apologize.”
That single word sent a ripple of surprise through the crowd.
“Today,” he said, “I Julius Atlas Neptune, the seventy first King of Atlantis will, for the first time in our history, break a sacred tradition.”
Gasps spread instantly. Murmurs erupted. Disbelief rippled outward like shockwaves.
“I cannot allow my daughter to marry the winner of this competition.”
Sofia closed her eyes briefly.
“I do not say this lightly,” King Julius continued, his voice heavy but resolute. “Nor do I say this without regret. But as a father, I must think of my daughter’s future and well-being. And as a king, I must think of the future of Atlantis itself.”
He let the words sink in before delivering the final blow.
“The reason for this decision is simple.”
His gaze sharpened.
“The winner of this competition is human.”
The stadium exploded.
Shock tore through the audience like a violent tide. Voices rose instantly some in disbelief, others in outrage, others in stunned silence. Thousands of eyes snapped toward Razeal all at once, scrutinizing him as if seeing him for the first time.
A human.
A human had won the Royal Competition?
Confusion collided with tradition. Pride clashed with disbelief. For many, the idea alone felt unacceptable an insult to history itself.
Sofia opened her eyes and shook her head faintly, exactly as she had expected. Still, disappointment flickered across her face, brief but real.
Razeal felt the weight of every gaze pressing down on him but he didn’t move or flinched not even any reaction.
He just simply stood there, calm, silent, absorbing the storm without resistance.
“So,” he said quietly, turning his head toward Arthur, his tone level, almost bored, “you said this would happen. What now?”
Arthur grinned.
“Oh, don’t worry,” he replied easily, confidence oozing from every word. “This might look bad, but trust me.. you picked the right person to help you.”
He ran a hand through his hair, posture loose, relaxed, as if the King of Atlantis hadn’t just publicly rejected a sacred tradition.
“You think it was easy for me to collect all the women I have?” Arthur continued, lowering his voice slightly. “You think none of their families tried to stop them? Threatened me? Dragged them away?”
He chuckled softly.
“Compared to that.. This? This is nothing.”
Arthur leaned in closer, his lips near Razeal’s ear, and whispered.. quiet enough that no one else could hear.
“Listen carefully. I’ll tell you exactly what to do next.”
While ..Maria could only blink.
Her eyes followed Arthur as he leaned close to Razeal, her brows knitting together when she realized she couldn’t hear a single word of what was being said. She strained instinctively, tilting her head slightly, her attention sharpening.. but it was useless. The air around them felt… sealed. Muted. As if sound itself bent away from that narrow space between the two men.
Her lips pressed together.
A barrier? she thought. No… not a spell I recognize.
Arthur was clearly doing something his voice moving, his expression shifting from here to there.
Finally, Arthur leaned back.
A confident, almost smug smile spread across his face, as if he had just finished setting a trap and was already enjoying the outcome.
Razeal, on the other hand, turned toward him with a rare crack in his composure.
“Are you sure about this?” he asked quietly, genuine surprise flickering across his face.
Arthur’s grin widened.
“Just follow my steps,” he said casually, brushing imaginary dust from his shoulder. “Don’t miss a single thing. And I promise you..”
His eyes gleamed.
“Even if a god steps down personally, they won’t have any say in this.”
Razeal studied him for a brief moment, measuring the weight of those words.
“And your sister?” he asked. “What about her?”
Arthur waved it off with ease. “Don’t worry. She’ll follow.”
That answer alone was unexpected.
“She’s got more of an adventurous spirit than people realize,” Arthur continued, glancing briefly toward Sofia. “She’s asked more than once to go to the land, to see the world beyond the sea. Father and Mother never allowed it.”
His grin sharpened. “This just gives her another reason to.”
He winked.
Razeal exhaled slowly.
“Hm.”
He wasn’t entirely convinced but Arthur’s confidence was absolute. And if there was one thing Razeal had learned, it was that Arthur never gambled without stacking the odds first.
“…Alright,” Razeal said finally, nodding once. “I’ll do it.”
Arthur laughed softly, satisfied.
Razeal didn’t waste another second.
He turned and began walking toward the arena straight toward the center, toward the King of Atlantis himself.
Maria’s gaze followed him instinctively.
Her confusion deepened as she watched Razeal’s back retreat farther and farther away.
“What did you say to him?” she demanded, turning sharply toward Arthur.
Arthur only smiled.
“You’ll find out,” he replied lightly.
On the arena floor, the tension thickened.
Razeal stepped forward until his presence alone drew attention his footsteps echoing faintly against the stone, cutting through the restless murmurs of the crowd.
“You can’t stop this!”
His voice rang out suddenly, sharp and clear, mirroring the authority King Julius himself had wielded moments earlier.
The entire colosseum froze.
King Julius turned.
His gaze locked onto Razeal instantly, heavy and unyielding. Even Sofia turned, her eyes quite surprise as she realized Razeal had stepped directly into the heart of the confrontation.
“And why,” King Julius asked, his voice calm but oppressive, “would I not?”
The weight of his aura surged outward, pressing down like a descending tide. It was the presence of a ruler who had commanded seas and storms.. an authority meant to crush defiance before it could take form.
But Razeal didn’t step back.
He smiled slowly and very Deliberately.
Then, without breaking eye contact with the King, he took another step forward.. closing the distance.
Before anyone could react, his arm moved.
His hand slid around Sofia’s waist.
Firm and Certain.
The sudden contact made her body jolt slightly as he pulled her closer, her balance shifting as she instinctively leaned into him. Her breath caught.. not from force, but from shock and surprise..
The entire stadium went dead silent.
Sofia’s eyes widened, her mind blanking for a split second as she felt his grip.. steady, protective, unhesitating.
Razeal didn’t look at her.
He looked straight at King Julius.
And then he spoke.
“Because she’s pregnant with my child.”
The words detonated.
They didn’t just echo.. they erupted, tearing through the colosseum like a shockwave, reverberating through every floating screen, every stone pillar, every stunned mind present.
For a heartbeat,
Nothing.
No sound.
No movement.
Then
“What?”
Gasps exploded from the crowd.
Sofia froze completely, her breath locking in her chest as her mind scrambled to process what had just been said. Her face flushed instantly, shock flooding her features as her eyes snapped toward Razeal in disbelief.
Merisa eyes widened.
Maria’s jaw dropped.
Even King Julius stiffened.
The air itself felt like it had cracked.
Sofia’s heart slammed violently against her ribs, her body still held securely at Razeal’s side as the meaning of his words settled in.
Pregnant?
With his..?
Her mind reeled.
Around them, the colosseum erupted into chaos.. shouts overlapping, disbelief turning into uproar, whispers cascading into roaring speculation.
A human?
A princess?
A child?
King Julius stared down at Razeal, his expression unreadable.. but the storm behind his eyes had never been more dangerous.
And Razeal?
He stood there calmly, arm firm around Sofia’s waist, his crimson eyes steady and unflinching.
Waiting.. for success which Arthur had promised.
