Chapter 453: I’m Not That Dumb

Chapter 453: I’m Not That Dumb

“Move! Move farther away from them!” A cultivator shouted as he waved his hand, causing his boat to move sideways.

And thanks to his shouts, the others too began to spread out, widening the distance between them and Warktor. This way, he wouldn’t be able to close in on them and steal their boats.

Moreover, Warktor had a short range within which he could siphon the luck of others. So, as long as they moved far away, they would be safe. Truthfully, they didn’t know, but they were aware that he had mysterious means to kill them, hence moving away.

“He’s also an Evil Spirit.”

Slowly, word spread as the cultivators became aware, realising why he was so different from the norm.

Now that all the boats had gone far away, beyond his reach, and with his boat sinking, Warktor truly had no other way. Normally, he would still have been able to reach the others and snatch their boats.

But, Xuer was constantly attacking him, causing him to focus a lot of his attention on defence. And that wasn’t all. There were also Origin Beasts constantly targeting him from the water, preventing him from travelling far enough.

‘That’s pretty neat.’ Warktor smiled as he stomped the water, instantly raising the temperature of the spinning discs, emitting a lot of steam that blanketed his figure. That wasn’t all, the steam further expanded in radius, preventing anyone from seeing his figure.

Compass Carburettor frowned at such a reaction, noticing that the mist was expanding faster than he had expected, “I see, that makes sense now.”

He then gazed at the figure of Chenger that had been moving at the front of the row of boats, seeing a faint trail of steam that she had been emitting all along, “Indeed, they have joined hands.”

He sighed, motioning for the marine Origin Beasts to swarm the region, already aware that Warktor wouldn’t be dying anytime soon. The other party had been pretty calm throughout the fiasco, depicting that he was on a whole other level as compared to others.

After all, he was someone that had become a powerhouse time after again in the Apocalypse World.

And, unlike the different worlds where one could gain power, the Apocalypse World followed the pearls. Meaning, no matter how strong someone was, if they didn’t have any pearls to use, they were no different from a mortal.

So, to be strong, not only do they have to reach a high enough Stage, but also manage their wealth of Pearls, battling in such a way they always earned a profit through every fight. Only in such a way would they grow and reign supreme.

And, in every loop, Warktor had achieved that. So, it would be delusional to think he could be defeated so easily.

Of course, he must have completed many preparations on his end too.

Compass Carburettor only hoped to reduce his luck a little and obtain a better understanding of his character, and his fighting nature. That would allow him to develop a plan to kill him.

Slowly, the scent of blood filled the air, resultant of the large number of Origin Beasts that were being killed nonstop. Compass Carburettor selected some of the strongest among the Origin Beasts and planted a Blood Vitality Grass inside them, allowing them to absorb all the blood and grow stronger.

At least, they might prove useful on their return trip, if that ever happened.

There was a good chance Chenger and Warktor might remain on the island if things went south until they were ejected out of the Folkan Secret Realm automatically.

After all, there was less than a day left before the Folkan Secret Realm closes.

Surprisingly, the steam spread too fast, soon enveloping some boats in it too.

“Gah!” A cultivator screamed in shock when Warktor jumped out of the water and slit his throat. Kicking his corpse into the water, Warktor took control, rowing the boat towards the front, soon catching up with Chenger.

She was steadily releasing more and more steam, preventing their enemies from seeing them.

“That was risky.” She commented.

“I was just getting a good idea of their abilities.” Warktor smiled, “Ranze is good at close combat and can use dozens of weapon-related Origin Arts. Xuer at present is only able to shoot out ice spikes. She’s able to carpet bomb an entire region but isn’t good at precision strikes like Ranze.”

“Grisha is pretty tricky. She hasn’t displayed the true extent of her strength yet. And considering how she has a good grasp of our character, we’ll need to pay attention to her more.” He then continued, “As for Compass Carburettor, he’s able to control Origin Beasts.”

“Like an enslavement ability of sorts?” Chenger frowned.

“That pretty much seems to be the case, only that his enslavement isn’t limited to Origin Beasts alone,” Warktor spoke.

“You mean…” Chenger’s eyes widened in shock as she slowly understood what was up, looking around to see the other cultivators that were competing with one another to row their boats faster, “It seems…we’ve risked things by allowing so many people to remain alive.”

“Indeed,” Warktor said, “And, I advise not to take action for the time being. From what I could sense from our Luck Values, Compass Carburettor has broken through to the Martial Origin Stage. We’ll be at a disadvantage facing him now.”

“What about his fusion material?” Chenger frowned, “I don’t think he would obtain a good enough material outside of the island we’re heading towards now.”

“If he fused with a somewhat sloppy material, then it’s for the best. But, there’s no guarantee that he would do something so stupid. That doesn’t seem like him.” Warktor said, “There’s definitely more to it.”

The two boats continued to move side by side as silence ensued between the two System Hosts.

“You know…Chenger,” Warktor spoke after some time, “Someone named Compass Carburettor didn’t exist in our previous loops. I hope you aren’t that heavily fooled by the Destiny Luck System.”

“I know,” Chenger spoke in seriousness, “I’m not that dumb.”
