I grow stronger by making my wife happy.
Chapter 505:Hope.
Chapter 505: 505:Hope.
A moment later, two small crystal bottles appeared in his hand.
One contained a brilliant golden liquid while the other held a pale silver substance that seemed to shimmer with tiny threads of light.
Ravenna stared, her eyes narrowing with each passing second.
"What are those?" She asked.
"Medicine."
She looked at him.
"Silver."
"Very expensive medicine," he said.
Her expression became suspicious.
"How expensive?"
He hesitated, then smiled.
"Let’s not talk about that," he replied with a forced cheerful voice.
"Silver."
"Twenty-five thousand points for both of us."
She froze.
"WHAT?" She shouted.
He winced.
"Please don’t shout. My ribs are already complaining."
She stared at the bottles, then at him.
"Twenty-five thousand?" She repeated.
"Yes."
"Silver!"
He laughed weakly.
"Would you prefer I let us bleed to death?"
She opened her mouth, then closed it. For a moment, she looked genuinely conflicted.
He gently placed the golden bottle in her hand.
"Drink."
She stared at it, her brows farrowed.
"What about you?" She worriedly asked.
"I bought two."
He produced another and her expression softened.
"Silver..."
"Ravenna." He looked directly into her eyes. "Money is useful because of what it can do for us. Points are the same. If I save them while we die, then what was the point of having them?"
She remained quiet.
He smiled faintly.
"Besides, I can earn more."
She looked down at the bottle, then nodded.
"All right."
They moved into the shelter of a damaged shop, where Silver explained the effects of both medicines before they drank them. The golden elixir was thick and strangely warm, spreading through his throat like liquid sunlight before an intense wave of heat erupted inside his chest.
He immediately doubled over.
"Oh, that’s unpleasant."
Ravenna, who had just swallowed her own dose, grabbed the edge of a table.
Her eyes widened.
"Silver!"
He gritted his teeth.
"Apparently... healing hurts."
The sensation was extraordinary.
He could feel his fractured ribs shifting back into alignment, damaged muscles knitting together, and torn tissue rapidly reconstructing itself beneath his skin. His internal injuries began healing at a speed that would’ve been impossible through conventional medical treatment, while the persistent pain in his chest gradually transformed into a dull warmth.
[Superior Vital Restoration Elixir Activated.]
[Accelerated Tissue Reconstruction Initiated.]
[Multiple Rib Fractures Repaired.]
[Internal Bleeding Stopped.]
[Organ Damage Restored.]
[Physical Condition Improving.]
He exhaled shakily.
Beside him, Ravenna’s injured shoulder began recovering, and the burns along her arms faded.
She stared at her hands.
"This is..."
"Ridiculous?" He finished for her.
She nodded.
"Completely ridiculous."
Silver smiled.
"Good ridiculous, though."
Ravenna laughed breathlessly.
"Yes."
Once the physical reconstruction stabilized, they drank the silver elixirs.
The second medicine was different.
Instead of heat, he felt an extraordinary coolness spread through his soul energy pathways, soothing the damage caused by his repeated spatial backlash. The stabbing pain behind his eyes gradually diminished, and the unstable circulation that had threatened to cripple his abilities began settling into a steady rhythm.
[Supreme Soul Meridian Restoration Elixir Activated.]
[Damaged Spatial Energy Pathways Undergoing Restoration.]
[Energy Circulation Stabilized.]
[Spatial Backlash Damage Repaired.]
[Warning: Soul Energy Reserves Remain Partially Depleted.]
[Recommended: Avoid Excessive High-Output Spatial Manipulation Until Full Recovery.]
Silver opened his eyes, then slowly raised his hand and a faint spatial distortion appeared above his palm without a hint of pain.
He smiled.
"Much better."
Ravenna examined her own energy circulation, her expression brightened.
"My foundation feels stable again."
He nodded.
"Good."
She looked toward him, then suddenly stepped forward and wrapped her arms around his waist.
"Ravenna?"
She buried her face against his chest.
"Thank you."
His expression softened as he placed a hand against her hair.
"Anytime."
She tightened her embrace.
"Don’t say that."
He raised an eyebrow.
"Why?"
"Because you’ll spend another twenty-five thousand points the next time I get a scratch."
He laughed.
"Depends on the scratch."
She looked up.
"Silver."
He smiled.
"All right. I’ll be reasonable."
She just stared at him.
He sighed.
"Mostly reasonable."
Ravenna shook her head but she smiled.
For the first time in hours, he felt something other than fear, exhaustion, and grief.
Hope.
Not because the system could solve everything, it couldn’t since it hadn’t saved Elias, but it had given him another chance to protect someone who was still alive, and Silver intended to make better use of that chance.
The southern barricade was collapsing when they arrived.
Several Tier Three beasts had broken through the defensive line, forcing the remaining soldiers to retreat toward the final evacuation corridor. The road was littered with damaged vehicles, shattered concrete, and the bodies of creatures that had been killed during the previous hours of fighting. Beyond the barricades, hundreds of civilians were still moving toward the southern highway, their progress slowed by the wounded and the elderly who could barely walk.
Helena stood near the center of the defensive line.
Her shield was cracked and blood covered one side of her face. She was shouting instructions while attempting to keep several frightened students from abandoning their positions.
"Caleb, hold the left side! Rowan, reinforce the transport! Everyone else, protect the evacuation corridor!"
A Tier Three predator leaped over the barricade. She raised her shield, the impact forcing her backward.
She stumbled.
The creature lunged again but a gunshot rang out. Its head snapped sideways as another shot followed.
The beast collapsed.
She turned.
Silver stood several meters away, his handgun raised. Ravenna walked beside him, her sword resting against her shoulder.
For a moment, she simply stared.
"Silver?"
He smiled faintly.
"Miss us?"
Her expression changed.
"How are you standing?"
He glanced at his previously injured chest.
"Good medicine."
She just shook her head.
"I don’t even want to know."
"Probably for the best."
Ravenna stepped forward.
"What’s the situation?"
Helena immediately became serious.
"The final evacuation convoy is preparing to leave, but we still have several hundred civilians moving through the southern corridor. The beasts are approaching from three directions, and the military has lost contact with the western defensive post."
He looked toward the map.
"How long until the last convoy leaves?"
"Twenty minutes. Maybe thirty."
He nodded.
"Then we hold for thirty minutes."
Worry took over her face.
"Silver, there are too many," Helena said.
"I know."
"Some of them are Tier Four."
"I know."
She clenched her fists.
"We’ve already lost Elias," she said in a small voice.
Silver’s expression changed. For a moment, neither spoke, then he nodded.
"I know."
His voice was quieter.
Helena looked away.
Silver continued.
"But if we stop now, everything he did becomes meaningless."
She looked toward him.
He glanced toward the civilians.
"Elias stayed because he wanted those people to live." He tightened his grip on his handgun. "So we’re going to make sure they do."
Helena swallowed, then nodded.
"All right." She raised her communicator. "All Class Four students, regroup at the southern defensive line. We hold until the final evacuation is complete."
