I grow stronger by making my wife happy.
Chapter 500:A new one.
Chapter 500: 500:A new one.
Ravenna slowly turned toward her stepsister. For a moment, her expression was unreadable, then she laughed; a short, humorless sound.
"Of course."
Shirley took a step forward.
"Ravenna, you’re misunderstanding..."
"Don’t, I’m not stupid."
Shirley stopped.
Ravenna looked at her.
"Do you have any idea how many people are dying outside?" She coldly asked.
Shirley opened her mouth.
"Ravenna..."
"Do you?" Her voice rose as she continued. "People are trapped under buildings. Children are being evacuated. Soldiers are dying trying to keep those beasts away from the shelters."
Shirley looked away.
Ravenna continued.
"And you decided this was the perfect opportunity to throw yourself at my boyfriend?"
Shirley’s expression twisted.
"That’s not fair," she said in a soft voice, as though she wasn’t in the wrong.
Ravenna visibly rolled her eyes.
"Fair?" She repeated.
Shirley clenched her fists and her outburst followed.
"You’ve always treated me like I’m some kind of monster!" She said in a cold tone.
Ravenna’s eyes narrowed.
"Then stop behaving like one."
Shirley flinched.
Silver stepped beside Ravenna.
"Enough."
Both women looked toward him.
His expression was cold.
"Shirley, I don’t know what you were hoping to accomplish, but this ends here."
Her eyes watered.
"Silver..."
"No," he firmly cut her off and shook his head. "I’ve tolerated your attempts to approach me because we’re classmates, and because I didn’t want unnecessary conflict affecting the team."
His voice hardened.
"But you crossed a line today."
Her eyes widened.
"I just wanted..."
"I don’t care."
She froze.
He continued.
"You knew I was with Ravenna. You knew I wasn’t interested. And you chose to ignore that." He looked toward the warehouse. "More importantly, you chose to do it while people were depending on us."
Shirley looked as though he’d struck her.
Silver stepped closer.
"From now on, keep your distance unless we’re working together under direct orders. And don’t touch me again."
Her lips trembled.
"You’re taking her side."
Silver stared.
"This isn’t about taking sides." He shook his head. "It’s about your behavior."
Ravenna looked toward Shirley.
For years, she’d endured the girl’s manipulations, the calculated tears, the attempts to turn other people against her, and the constant pressure from a family that had never truly accepted her.
But this was different.
Shirley had tried to interfere with the one relationship Ravenna had chosen for herself, and she’d done it during a disaster.
Her expression hardened.
"Listen carefully, Shirley."
Shirley looked toward her.
"Whatever relationship we had before is over." Her voice remained steady. "Don’t approach me pretending we’re sisters. Don’t use my name to gain sympathy. And don’t ever try to interfere with Silver again."
Her eyes filled with tears.
"Ravenna I..."
"Save it." She stepped closer, right to Shirley’s face. "If you want to prove you’re a better person, start by helping the people outside instead of manipulating the ones standing beside you."
For a moment, Shirley looked genuinely furious but the expression disappeared almost immediately.
Silver noticed, and so did Ravenna.
She lowered her head, turned and walked away.
Neither stopped her.
Silver watched her disappear around the corner, then exhaled.
"Well."
Ravenna looked toward him and he shot glanced at her.
"That was unpleasant," he finished.
Despite everything happening around them, she gave a short laugh.
"Unpleasant?"
He nodded.
"Very."
She shook her head, then stepped closer.
"Did she actually try to kiss you?" She asked, worry in her eyes.
"Yes."
Her expression darkened.
He immediately raised a hand.
"I stopped her."
"I know." She looked toward the direction Shirley had disappeared. "I saw it."
He gently took her hand.
"Ravenna."
She looked at him.
"She’s not worth it."
She remained quiet, then nodded.
"You’re right." She squeezed his hand. "But I’m done with her."
He nodded.
"Understood."
A sudden explosion interrupted them. The warehouse shook and dust fell from the ceiling.
He immediately activated Spatial Sense.
[Spatial Sense Lv3 Activated.]
His expression changed.
"Ravenna."
She drew her sword.
"What?"
"Something just entered the eastern district."
The creature came through the street like a living battering ram.
It was a Tier Four beast resembling an enormous armored rhinoceros, although its head was broader and its front legs were covered in thick, overlapping plates. Blood streamed from several wounds along its flank, and one of its horns had broken near the base, leaving a jagged stump that scraped against the surrounding buildings as it ran.
The beast was fleeing, unfortunately, the evacuation warehouse stood directly in its path.
He appeared at the entrance just as the creature rounded the corner. Several soldiers opened fire, the bullets striking its armor but most bounced away.
"Get back!" He shouted.
The soldiers scattered whild the beast lowered its head.
Silver extended his left hand.
[Spatial Distortion Lv2 Activated.]
A transparent barrier appeared across the street. The creature struck it, the impact tremendous.
Silver felt the force travel through his spatial energy circulation and the barrier cracked.
His expression tightened.
"Ravenna!"
She moved immediately.
Flame Edge
Her sword flashed in the air before a narrow arc of fire struck the creature’s exposed front leg. The beast stumbled, but its momentum continued carrying it forward.
He gritted his teeth.
He couldn’t allow it to reach the warehouse since there were hundreds of civilians inside. He activated Primal Strength and stepped forward, attempting to reinforce the barrier with his own energy.
[Primal Strength Lv3 Activated.]
[Spatial Barrier Integrity Declining.]
The beast struck again and the barrier shattered.
His eyes widened as he watched the creature surged forward. He had only a fraction of a second to react.
[Short-Step Lv3 Activated.]
His figure disappeared.
But instead of moving away, he instinctively attempted to extend his spatial perception around the beast and force its trajectory toward the empty drainage channel beside the street.
It was a desperate decision, one he hadn’t consciously planned.
His Short-Step activation overlapped with the collapsing spatial distortion, and for a brief instant, the energy circulating through his body behaved differently.
Space seemed to fold around the creature.
He felt something shift.
The beast’s enormous body suddenly jerked sideways and its momentum didn’t disappear; instead, the distance between its current position and the drainage channel seemed to compress for a fraction of a second.
The creature vanished from the center of the street, then reappeared several meters to the right.
It crashed into the drainage channel with a deafening impact. The beast rolled onto its side, crushing several abandoned pipes before struggling to regain its footing.
He reappeared near the warehouse entrance, stumbling before dropped to one knee, blood trickling from his nose.
Ravenna immediately rushed toward him.
"Silver!"
He stared at the drainage channel.
"What..."
His vision blurred as a notification appeared.
[Abnormal Spatial Energy Interaction Detected.]
[Short-Step Lv3 and Spatial Distortion Lv2 Entered Temporary Synchronization.]
[Unconventional Spatial Manipulation Successfully Executed.]
[New Skill Formation Detected.]
[Analyzing...]
He swallowed as another notification appeared.
[New Skill Acquired.]
[Spatial Displacement Lv1.]
[Skill Type: Active Spatial Manipulation.]
[Description: Temporarily alters the spatial relationship between a target and a designated nearby location, forcibly displacing the target without requiring conventional movement.]
[Current Limitations: Short Range. High Soul Energy Consumption. Effectiveness Reduced Against Targets With Superior Energy Resistance or Mass.]
[Warning: Improper Activation May Cause Spatial Backlash.]
His eyes widened.
A new skill.
He’d accidentally created a new spatial ability.
