I grow stronger by making my wife happy.
Chapter 434:Rank.
Chapter 434: 434:Rank.
Death Row Valley had changed him, repeated combat had changed him, skill growth had changed him, and surviving had changed him.
Plus those numbers didn’t include the thirty unassigned points currently waiting for him.
Silver continued.
[SKILLS]
Phantom Draw Lv4
Spatial Sense Lv3
Short-Step Lv3
Space Slash Lv2
Advanced Swordsmanship Lv2
Advanced Firearm Proficiency
Poller Trick
Primal Strength Lv3
Iron Bones Lv3
Fire Resistance Passive Lv2
Advanced Field Cooking Lv1
Field Analysis Lv2
Spatial Distortion & Barriers Lv2
Mind Fortress Lv2 ℴ
Linked Awareness Lv2
Soul Insight Lv2
Shared Beast Absorption Lv1
Silver read the list twice.
There were several improvements he hadn’t properly appreciated while trapped underground.
Phantom Draw had reached Lv4.
Spatial Sense Lv3.
Primal Strength and Iron Bones had both developed to Lv3.
Then the system upgrade had pushed several of his weaker supporting skills forward.
He was becoming increasingly difficult to classify.
He then remembered Peter’s classification.
"Tactical skirmisher." He sighed to himself, the sound echoing in the bathroom. "Maybe he had a point."
He moved downward.
[UTILITY ITEM]
Field Camouflage Projector
[RARE ITEM]
Void Tempering Fruit
Silver stopped.
He still hadn’t used it, that was becoming increasingly ridiculous.
But the fruit was rare enough that he refused to consume it without understanding exactly when it would provide the greatest benefit. He knew he had to reach rank three before eating it but just carrying something this valuable around with him was tempting to anyone.
He continued.
[SYSTEM FUNCTIONS]
Affection Detection
Advanced Shop Access
Quest Function
Target Synchronization
Expanded Storage: 30 Slots
Silver’s eyebrows rose.
Thirty.
That was another significant improvement from ten.
He had spent enough time travelling to understand exactly how useful spatial storage was when ammunition, medicine, cores, food, survival equipment and weapons all competed for physical carrying capacity.
Then he saw the last section.
[CURRENT RESOURCES]
Affection Points: 20,873
Unassigned Attribute Points: 30
Silver leaned forward.
This was the dangerous part, AP could wait, he wasn’t buying something simply because he suddenly felt rich.
The attributes required more thought.
He pulled up their descriptions.
Strength was obvious. Agility improved physical movement, coordination and speed. Endurance improved durability, stamina and recovery.
Soul Synchronization influenced his connection with integrated beast souls and the effectiveness with which his body handled their abilities.
Perception worked extremely well with Spatial Sense and battlefield awareness. Mental Resistance complemented Mind Fortress and helped him endure mental pressure.
Silver considered dumping everything into Soul Synchronization.
It was very tempting, but Peter’s baseline assessment had reinforced something Silver had gradually learned.
Extreme specialization created weaknesses.
He didn’t need another thirty points of raw Strength when Primal Strength Lv3 already made him physically abnormal.
He didn’t need to chase Ravenna’s natural speed. What he needed was a body capable of surviving his spatial fighting style.
A mind capable of processing it, and better synchronization with the abilities that increasingly defined him.
Silver began assigning.
Strength: +3
Agility: +5
Endurance: +5
Soul Synchronization: +8
Perception: +6
Mental Resistance: +3
[30 Attribute Points Assigned.]
Silver barely had time to confirm as his body seized. He grabbed the edge of the bench.
"Shit."
Heat spread intensely through his muscles. His heartbeat accelerated, every muscle seemed to contract before releasing, his breathing deepened, bones vibrated faintly beneath his skin, iron bones reacted to the increase and primal strength reacted.
Then something stranger happened.
The room expanded.
Silver could hear water flowing through pipes behind the wall, footsteps outside, someone entering the larger bathroom, the hum of ventilation and the subtle movement of air beneath the stall door.
Perception.
Then his spatial awareness reacted.
He wasn’t even consciously activating Spatial Sense, but his understanding of the area around himself sharpened. He could feel the difference waiting behind the skill.
Soul Synchronization surged.
His two tattoos heated briefly; the space squirrel tattoo reacted first, then the strength ape.
Silver gritted his teeth.
Several seconds passed, then a minute, then another. Gradually, the pressure faded.
Silver exhaled.
Sweat covered his forehead.
"That was more dramatic than expected."
He opened his status again.
[ATTRIBUTES]
Strength: 45
Agility: 37
Endurance: 36
Soul Synchronization: 52
Perception: 41
Mental Resistance: 30
Silver stared in disbelief.
Soul Synchronization fifty-two.
That number looked absurd compared with where he’d begun.
He flexed his hand; the movement felt different and his body responded immediately.
He stood and his balance shifted; his feet adjusted almost automatically.
Silver deliberately stopped himself from activating Short-Step.
Testing teleportation inside the dormitory bathroom immediately after receiving a major attribute increase was precisely the kind of decision Ravenna would yell at him for.
And she’d be right.
He smiled.
"Tomorrow."
Another notification appeared.
[Attribute Integration Successful.]
[Host physical and soul parameters substantially improved.]
[Current Rank remains Rank 2.]
[Rank advancement conditions have not yet been fulfilled.]
Silver stared at the final line; there it was, the confirmation.
Rank advancement had another requirement that he didn’t know what yet. He could investigate later.
For now, he finally showered.
When Silver returned to Room 314 nearly twenty minutes later, Antony was still awake.
He looked at Silver, then frowned.
"Did you get taller?"
He stopped.
"No."
Antony sat up.
"You look different."
Jude glanced over and Dillian did too.
Silver kept his expression neutral.
"I showered."
Antony stared, his eyes narrowing even further.
"That’s not what showers do."
"Maybe you’re doing them wrong," Silver responded.
Jude looked at Silver for several seconds.
"Posture."
Silver looked toward him.
Jude continued, "Your posture changed slightly."
Dillian’s eyes narrowed.
Silver resisted the urge to sigh. He had somehow ended up sharing a room with the three worst possible people for hiding physical changes.
Antony talked too much. Jude noticed everything. Dillian had too much combat experience.
He shrugged.
"My body’s still recovering. Maybe I’m finally standing properly."
Dillian accepted that explanation first.
Possible.
Silver had spent days walking around with residual injuries. As his body recovered, posture and movement naturally changed.
Antony still looked suspicious.
Silver climbed into bed.
"Goodnight."
"You haven’t studied."
"I’ll study tomorrow morning."
"Ravenna is going to wake you at six fifteen, isn’t she?"
Silver turned his head.
"How do you know that?"
Antony smiled.
"You two are predictable."
Silver threw a pillow at him.
